I hope you're having the low-key day you desire, FFB. Sorry about Ds9's friend A.
You are extremely kind to your workmen, Kitty! When we had contract workers in our home all day for months working on a renovation, I offered coffee a couple times - but it was never taken. LOL! They got their own coffee and lunches, etc. from other establishments. I think it's a cultural thing.
Your house must smell good, L Ann. 🍞 You're inspiring me; I have a mix for GF bread I'd like to try. Maybe for dinner tomorrow night. Baking is kinda therapeutic and relaxing.
I'd love to see your window boxes of flowers sometime, trissie. That sounds like a really fun evening for everyone!!
That's so helpful that your dad can drive again, Lauralind.

I think people don't plant here until late May. Since we don't plant, I don't really know, but I think the very last frost date is late in May.

The sun is shining and we're forecast to reach 56*F today! I'm running an official 5K race tomorrow at 8 a.m. but I might go for a short easy jog today, just because I haven't jogged at all this week. It's been a doozy of a week. Thank goodness I have nothing on the calendar today -- but that does not make today low key. There are several things I need to do as this is my most available day before I travel to Illinois to help move my mom. (Tomorrow, I'm scheduled all day from the race at 8 a.m. until the end of hosting Sunday dinner (around 9 pm) with a 2 hour break btwn. church and CG2. Monday, I will be at payroll 1-5 because I have an extra meeting + need to get sub plans in order after class. I will also have payroll prep in the morning unless that somehow happens today or tomorrow - not seeing it happen tomorrow.)

Main Goals for Today:
1. Shopping for small items for Mom.
2. Good progress setting up Mom's room
3. Payroll - finish 2 exams for exam prep

- tidy the bedroom; my clothes are all over the place - I just got a Stitch Fix + an order

Next:

- short easy jog (don't want to tire myself out before the run tomorrow)

Later:

- make bed
- Tarjay for small items
- lunch
- gas car
- help transport items to NH
- help dh set up dresser (He will put some parts together here instead of bringing all his tools to NH.)
- label all Mom's items
- deposit them in her room
- payroll: AR Exam draft ready for review
- payroll: LBBR Exam draft ready for review
- dinner: tuna pasta (fr. freezer), green salad

Good morning ~ trissie ~ kitty ~ L.Ann ~ laurlind!

A little light bulb went off in my head late yesterday afternoon. Yep... my license plate sticker expires at the end of the month. This is the second year in a row that I haven't receive it in the mail. Scrambled out of bed this morning and got to the DMV about 7:40 - ten minutes after it opened. Was in and out in 5 minutes. Our DMV has done a fantastic job streamlining services there. It helped that I got in before the crowd. Got my sticker, washed my car, gassed up, and got groceries before 9. Go, me! Took a break when I got home. Now I need to unpack/put away groceries and do a quick spiff in the house. I'd like to have all that done before G gets home.

Ooh everyone is busy I see !

Smile I'm intrigued by the license plate sticker system too. You're productive very early, probably if you had started later it would take you longer for all those errands !

laura I see your day is going to be full. Wishing you the best energy for all you have to do.

Hi L.Ann, you remind me I need to clean my windows, with something like windex but not the same name. I hope you have a good time at dinner with family.

helia looks like your Sunday will be busy, especially after running 5K. I'm not caught up on posts but I see you're making progress towards having everything ready for your DM - if I don't post till then, sending you my best wishes that all goes well for her and for you.

Hi Peaches!

trissie sorry you didn't find the trees you wanted. As for MrNG he's now fully in job search mode, his business doesn't really take-off, he will maintain his activity because he may sign consulting contracts later on, but right now he's not making money with it. FInances are a bit tight as a result, we haven't booked things for the summer and it will probably be low-key camping somewhere in France - which suits us fine, but DS9 is asking for variety and going abroad, as he has friends telling him about travels and taking planes and such...

Back from an afternoon in a park we used to visit when living at previous house - a bit going down memory lane, when kids were very young and DS6 still a toddler. Now back home and it will be family movie night with store-bought pizza and some lettuce.

TADAs
spend time on the internet instead of being productive in the morning
kids fed lunch, I cleaned up
read stories
packed a few things and went to park at S---
now back

TODO
decide which movie we will watch
put frozen pizzas in oven, prepare lettuce, maybe carrot sticks
enjoy family movie night
maybe do "one more thing" before going to bed

FFB, our finances were very limited when ds was growing up, so our travels were limited also. We started telling ds, We don't choose to spend our money that way" instead of saying "we can't afford it." It gave him (and us) less sense of financial hardship.

trissie, that sounds like a very fun party, and i'm happy you could sleep in this morning.
Kittykatt, your knowledge of flowers amazes me. And that fact that you are able to grow them, keep them alive, even more!
I guess I won't be planting anything this year - digging is not an activity for my foot in its current state :( But our earliest palnting time is somewhere between Mother's day and end of the month, to avoid frost. One year we had a blizzard the last weekend of May. That is unusual, but not impossible.
Smiles, we can get ours by mail also. FYI for others, there are some states that require emissions testing, others taht don't. It's not a national standard. (Our national constitution [paraphrasing] says all things not specifically given to the federal government belong to the states. that's why we have laws that vary so much among the states)

My student brought her paper to me last night. Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and they need it back, make revisions, and have it in by Easter Monday! This is a tight time frame for me! I usually require a week to read and recommend revisions, then they should have a week to work on it. However, the advisor just gave it back to them, so I'll work with what I've been given. I emailed first thoughts on the first section that needs additional work and citation, so they can work on that while I work on the rest. (I'm feeling good that I am indeed able to improve the writing some :D )

Coffee and scone with one of my df's who just retired from her teaching career was delightful. She's taking care of her mother also. But her mother is independently living. DF goes there to set up meds and be present during shower for safety.
Which reminds me, I have a shower stool somewhere, which will make it easier for me to get out of my tub. I need to look for it. Somewhere in my house or mother's - that could be lots of looking!
And I need to head to visit mother so we can write out Easter cards today as well.

1 more hour of editing, then I'll head to mother.
