I've been busy washing blankets and bedding. I also baked a spice cake for dessert. Easter should have dessert of some sort. Dh and I both had a slice while it was still warm.

I have the second load of pyrex in the dishwasher/spa. Considering I have 8 large pieces and they all have lids, I'm happy that it only took 2 loads. Now the clean ones look so nice and shiny. I'm glad I did them.

I have one more blanket to do in the washer.

I've got the carrots pre-boiling before I put them in the oven. I found out a long time ago that they are much better if I boil them before they get baked. Turkey thigh is marinating in the fridge.

Happy Easter to everyone that celebrates.

I have been to family brunch it went well.
One of the two things I good dessert unopened went with Dgd to her next thing she was to bring
a dessert and did not have to cook for that! Yea!
The beverage I took was a fav. so left the rest of that there for hosts & hostess to enjoy this week.
Brunch was excellent.

Came home and walked ddoggo around the block was all she would do.
I brought her home and did the rest with out her.
Neighbors are grilling and hiding eggs.
Looking forward to some more knitting time tonight.

Weather has been pretty good so that helped.
We had some hail & sun I out now.
Got my steps in.

Another "normal" weekend, busy with dgrands, and with dmom a little bit -- she is doing okay, but not quite as energetic as she hoped. Her right shoulder is really bothering her, and she cannot get another shot from the orthopedic doctor until her appt on May 1. She did not make it to church today, so our little family attended our own church and went out to eat afterwards.

Harriet, were you talking about the flower cross? In my childhood church, we never did that. I will never forget my first Easter Sunday as a Methodist -- after weeks of the cross standing in the sanctuary with a purple cloth over it, suddenly we arrived and it was COVERED in white lilies. Such a stark contrast from the weeks of Lent. I am still touched by the difference we see each Easter, but sometimes now we just have an arrangement at the cross beams of the cross, not a total covering of it.
And of course, today was our first Easter without dh. This has been a tough week. Even though it's later than it was last week, it has been a long week of remembering how much dh seemed to enjoy last year's Holy Week services, and uncharacteristically, he wanted to stay for lunch each day and mixed an mingled more than he ever had before. Sooo many people said his singing was the best he had ever done. And Easter was the last day he attended church; 12 days later he was gone.
But I guess we've been through all the "firsts" now -- at least the annual firsts -- there will be things that happen with the dgrands that will be milestones for them, and we will wish he could be here for them, but we've gotten through all the holidays.
This afternoon, I took the dgrands to see King of Kings, the animated story of Christ. It was good. DGD had seen it last night with DS & ddil, and she wanted to go back today. DGS did not feel like going last night, but wanted to see it today. It was good, but I was so sleepy. I don't do Sunday afternoon activities very well.

I am watching The Sound of Music. I saw it the first time when I was four years old. I wanted a wedding gown like Maria's. LOL... I did NOT have a train like Maria's. , and certainly not a wedding ceremony that resembled hers. I do love this movie, though. Of course, this was the golden age of movies for me -- the original Mary Poppins is still one of my favorite movies. Dmom says when we left the theater, I kept walking backwards trying to see the final credits. I even sang "Supercalifragilicious" as a solo at my kindergarten graduation! (If I had to sing in public today, I would be sick at my stomach.)

Harriet, you (and HRH) will be in my prayers for the coming week. It does seem like everything happens all at once, doesn't it? But I am sure one of your children will be happy to accompany you through tomorrow and whatever other days you will need a driver (or just moral support.)
I have to take my dmom to the eye doctor tomorrow. Early morning for me -- I am supposed to pick her up around 9:00 a.m.
I probably need to be helping out more with her housework also. She has a housekeeper every other week, but a lot can pile up in two weeks.

Nancy, I have got to follow your example and get some steps in before I go to bed! I'm so glad you enjoyed your family brunch!

Cathy, your meal sounds delicious! (All my Pyrex is the cornflower pattern also -- some for wedding gifts, some I inherited from dh's aunt and his dmom.

LadyM, I was thinking about you when I saw the weather reports last night. I hope DD and LordM start feeling better soon!

Blessed, my dbro also hates the Florida drive, just as Harriet was talking about. He just will not drive home at all. It's supposed to be 9 1/2 hours for him, but I hear what y'all are saying about the traffic down there. You and your mom, and your whole family are also in my prayers!

We are supposed to have rain all week -- it may not start until after we get home from dmom's appt in the morning, but I'm pretty sure dgrands' ballgames will be rained out tomorrow night. Tuesday, I hope to show up as moral support for Dcousin who is going to divorce court. Finally. She has said she would like for family to show up to sit with her. They have tried mediation and ex is basically stupid so he is waiting to see what the judge will give him. I can't believe it will be better for him this way, but stranger things have happened. Wednesday, I don't have a lot to do, except church Wed. night, and Thursday is relatively slow day except for dgrands ballgames (with 50% chance of rain still in the forecast.) Sometime this week, my Sunday School class will be preparing a meal for funeral of one of our members -- she died Saturday night, but arrangements have not been announced yet.
I also must get the oil changed in the Tahoe and it would be nice if I could color my hair this week.
