I am doing fine getting on the board here on the Chromebook, but have not been able to get to y'all via my phone at all. No amount of refreshing or anything else helps. All I get is the error message. Last night, I had no problems on my desktop computer, but I haven't tried that today.
Cathy, DS was born in 1983, and it is unreal how much of his stuff is still here. Of course, there is one good thing about it; DGS is wearing a men's medium shirt now, so soon he will be able to take advantage of a lot of things in ds's closet.
DS left a lot of size large shirts. And the fact that I'm something of a packrat also is evident because dgrands still play with some of ds's toys and the board games that have been here since DS was a child.
Lauralind, my DGS has never been tested medically for autism, but the school testing qualified him for an IEP and as far as I know, he has never actually had to rely on it except occasionally meeting with the school counselor or having state testing in a different classroom. He is very high functioning academically, but as you said, a little awkward socially. He says he doesn't want to play baseball in the upper grades, but we learned tonight that this year's coach may try to join a travel league with this team, and DGS said he would do that. This coach has just been amazing with DGS.
He has come so far, though -- when he was in preschool, his teacher referred him for testing -- he would have complete meltdowns if he had to switch activities -- he would be working on a puzzle or something, alone, and if it was time to go to recess, he'd have a fit! One day (2nd grade, maybe?) his teacher called ddil and complained that he had chewed the erasers off ALL her pencils. Chewing is a huge problem for him -- plastic toys, paper, last year's yearbook, balls, his baseball glove, EVERYTHING has his teeth marks on it! (I told him if he ever had stomach surgery, it would be like that dog that they found 18 pairs of socks in its stomach!) When we found out he had swallowed some small magnets, ddil took him to the pediatrician, and he actually saw a counselor for a few months to try to get him out of this habit. It may have improved somewhat, but it is still a problem. He does have a gastroenterologist now -- presumably because he has random episodes of severe acid reflux -- but all this chewing up and often swallowing non-food junk cannot be good for him.
Anyway -- I talk too much -- I hope testing helps with your DS!
LadyM, if (when) I replace my 2018 Tahoe, I will be looking for another one just like it. I have had to have the transmission reworked on it, but it has served me pretty well, and has 155000+ miles on it right now. It is my second Tahoe, and the first one lasted 10 years, so I'm hoping this one will. (The last one also accumulated a lot more miles than I expect this one to, because of all the trips to College Town and Nashville and Atlanta.) Actually, I hope it lasts a little longer than that -- DGS wants it when he gets his license, LOL. It would certainly not bring much as a trade in 3 years from now -- the interior has the look of a seven year old vehicle that has pretty much been lived in. We all eat in it and dgrands are very messy. (Something else I would like to do if I can possibly swing it financially is to get W*athertech floor mats and seat covers for my next vehicle.)
Of course, if I had a grandson as tall as yours, I would probably upgrade to a Suburban, because there is VERY LITTLE legroom in the third-row seating of a Tahoe.
Well... I haven't looked for the poetry folders tonight. I do not believe I threw them out already. When I search here for this topic, I get a million posts where I'm saying "I need to declutter journals and poetry and a bunch of stuff..." Sigh. Believe me, if I ever tossed them out, I am pretty sure I would have told y'all about it! This absolutely blows my mind. They were in a box, at least three folders, blue, green, red -- separated by color by the young men who inspired them. 
Where they should be, there is a box of letters from penpals, dfriends who moved, a friend in college, greeting cards, etc... two scrapbooks... two boxes of memorabilia... a notebook from high school with song lyrics (favorite songs, not my own) and poems copied from magazines... a n d ... NO ORIGINAL POETRY by yours truly AT ALL.
Where the journals are... just journals. I am at my wit's end. I was up so late last night. I would put the sheets on the bed... look in the closet... put the quilts on... look in the closet... put the pillowcases on... look in the closet. Y'all get the picture. 
I bet Elizabeth Barrett Browning never had this problem.
