Re: Sicilian Orange Salad Sunday
Good morning
Happy Mother's Day
Kittykatt, orange in a savory dish, I’ll have to try it.
Featherball, I’ve ordered red and white clover seed on Amazon and both have come up. That buttermilk tip sounds interesting… it serves as fertilization and pest control?
French, I need to avoid the news, seems it’s always negative.
Helia, enjoy your brunch.
Dogged, enjoy your beautiful day.
LAnn, hope you have a good day at home.
Hi Peaches.
Dh got us breakfast, now I’m just lazing around until something comes to mind to do. He mentioned thrifting so maybe later… Both girls live out of town and I have not heard from either. They’re both doing their own thing and probably not even up yet. One showed me a picture of flowers she got me but we don’t have plans to get together until next weekend so I told her to enjoy them for me. I can’t have them anyway, she knows the cats would destroy them and they’re probably toxic so idk what she’s thinking lol. Silly kids.
Good news is no messes on my clean floor this am. That’s a win in my book!
Enjoy your day!

Re: Sicilian Orange Salad Sunday
I hope you had a good trip, trissie. I can't believe the weekend is over.
Hi Peaches.
Enjoy the low-key day, Bama. No messes on the floor sounds great!
Nice you could walk with a friend, L Ann.
That's smart to do the laundry while everyone is out, Doggedly.
Mom was more sleepy than yesterday. Maybe she used up a lot of energy yesterday. But she did feed herself her breakfast. I helped her drink some water and an ensure.
Back home, I had a nice brunch with dh and the girls. Dd26 made homemade carrot cake cupcakes, one of my fav kinds of cake! She piped the icing so prettily on their tops! And they were super tasty!!
Coming back through. The weather is gorgeous - sunny and not too hot, 67*F. I'm going to get ready and jog next. I need to jog off that cupcake!
Next:
- back exercises
- change into jogging clothes
- jog
Later:
- make the bed
- snail mail bills
- change to jog
- jog
- spiff main bathroom
- tidy living areas
- 3:30 - 5:30 host CG2
- 5:30 - 7? host dinner?? (Only if someone else can get food.)
- after dinner clean up
- duo
- update health apps
- payroll: start prep for AAS D9
- payroll: start exam prep
- can dh help me order shelves for Mom's room? (She needs more storage space.)
- WF run?
TaDas!
- up; coffee
- email deletions + weather website
- communication: Mothers Day greetings replies, email from Mom's Dr. reply, coffee date reply
- s2s and self care
- reclaim kitchen
- darks: folded and p/a
- gathered things for Mom
- visited Mom - she was more sleepy today but did engage a little
- 11:30 - 1:00 brunch with dh and the girls
- kitchen tidied
- surfaces in living room and kitchen tidied

Re: Sicilian Orange Salad Sunday
Waving to trissie, welcome back from the cottage, and from your weekend. I hope you enjoyed it properly while you were there.
L.Ann glad you were able to walk with your friend. Does your friend live far away or is it easy for you both to agree on a walking session like maybe "meet me in 30 minutes" ?
helia yes it's fresh fish, from local fishmarket, and fished in a "respectful" way (caring for the environment), more expensive than fish from the supermarket but it's a pleasure to eat it. I hope you can be productive and still enjoy some social events !
Bama yay for no messes to clean !
Doggedly cooking fresh fish is really easy, at least imho. You have to ask someone (fishmonger) to "empty" it first, especially if you're not used to dealing with fresh fish. Then you rinse it and put in in a baking dish with maybe a few drops of oil, and in the oven for maybe 10-15 minutes - unless it's a big fish like a 80 cm salmon from a Canadian river, then it's longer. The hard part is not the cooking but the eating, since then you have to sort out the skin and the fish bones in your plate. if you have a great fishmonger they can prepare your fish by giving you only the fish fillet, even easier to cook. Salt, pepper, and enjoy. The best way to learn to cook something is to watch a few youtube videos first (not tiktok!), then try the one that seems the most doable.
Fresh fish can be expensive unless you buy the fish at the time of year when fishermen catch plenty - it depends on the species. Or you have to have friends who enjoy fishing then it can be very cheap
Hi Peaches!
Feathers some of our plants can be very resistent
I hope you get strawberries as tasty as ours. We ate some of our strawberries this week for the first time of the year.
Sunday is almost over. As always I tried to decide what I wanted to get done with my "free" time but didn't find a clear answer. Played with the kids, some gardening, some organizing... It's not wasted time anyway.
TADAs
homework with kids
things I needed to do
time for family games
gardening
TODO
make a to-do list for the week ahead
things I want to do - what are they ?
online banking thing before bed time
work on letter to DF J-- that I started weeks ago ?

Re: Sicilian Orange Salad Sunday
Bama, that is so funny about your daughter buying you flowers that you can't have for Mothers Day and showing you a picture. I think that this will be one of the stories that you laugh about in future years.
Hi, L.Ann. Enjoy your relaxing day at home.
Welcome back from the cottage, trissie.
I have heard that the competition for the laundry equipment is ferocious on Sundays, helia, so I feel very lucky to have gotten both washers on my own floor. I only need one dryer, so I can share the laundry room with someone who just needs a single load.
I'm glad that you have such nice weather. I have beautiful sun, and I'm hoping that it warms up enough that I can open the patio door. Not yet...
That does sound easy, FrenchFly, and pretty close to how I am cooking the triangle fish, LOL. I am very far from the ocean and I don't think that we eat the fish in our rivers due to pollution, so we don't have great fish mongers. Our salmon, for instance, is most often the Atlantic salmon species that was fish-farmed in B.C., causing damage to the B.C. species of salmon, and then transported halfway across the continent to us. It's not the best place for seafood, LOL.
Hi, Peaches
I am going to have to play today by ear. There are things that I want to do, but if I don't get some of the organizing under control, I will run out of floor space to set up the drying racks for the laundy. I still have the handtruck set up as 4-wheeled cart piled up with food to put away. I was hoping to get to Reitman's to use my birthday coupon during their 30% off sale, but it's looking less likely.
