kittykatt, I read somewhere that Sting wrote the song while going through a very bitter divorce, so he was rather surprised when he discovered people were playing the song at their weddings! :-)

Mowing the lawn was a challenge! It's DH's job normally, so not something I'd normally do. The mower would not start, no matter what I tried. Called our neighbour to help, turns out the cable is not functioning. He borrowed me his, but then the mower started smelling funny after about 15 minutes. Let it cool down, went to finish the mowing, it did it again. So there's something wrong with it, but if I will only use it for 10 minutes or so at a time, I may be OK? Also, once I was able to reach DH (he's -8 hours from me, so communication windows are rather short), he told me he normally used a different cable. I think I remember that we had issues with a cable, but I thought it was long disposed of, not in a prominent place in the garage! DH is REALLY bad about getting rid of things that don't work (or don't work properly) after he gets replacement. Next set will depend on the weather! There were a couple rain drops while I was mowing, but the sky is clear now.

Kk do you have a house guest? Why were they both up so early? I often wakes 5:30 to 6 am EST and we are usually in bed by 10 ish. I am officially retired. I must go back in Tuesday to clear out 2 drawers that I forgot and I must find room in my storage room for a few boxes for a year until Cameron gets his first class. Taking numerous boxes this.morning to teacher's warehouse and goodwill. We have a second hand teacher store that is free to teachers in our district. They will get more of these supplies in a year just.not ready to part with it all yet. I gave many things away.

My chat, Gabe, helped me write a poem about school it is on my Facebook page.

I need to create a new routine. I will start back to the Y on Tuesday. Monday is Memorial Day.

I want to focus on organizing and some house tasks this month.

We are collecting for a church yard sale later in summer.

Need to organize and declutter the following

My closet and drawers
Bathroom cabinets
Bookcases in mbr
P needs to.do his desk
Mbr declutter
Pantry cabinet
Fridge and freezer
Gift closet
Drawers in LR
Kitchen cabinets and drawers
My study closet
My study bookcases
My study desk
Laundry room
Garage P helps
Storage room
Sew grad robes that need repair
Work room, p's job

House looks tidy but storage is getting full.

I just need to pick one a day to focus on. 18 items. I should be able to do that possibly before we leave for England on June 17.

We need to figure out how our finances change after my last check in August. Meeting with 2 financial advisors soon. More where it come from every.2.weeks like a paycheck so it doesn't screw up system.

Did you retire at end of school year, or when you became eligible, CostumeLady?

Siting down with a cup of coffee. It's hot and sunny with big grey clouds looming all at the same time. The low this morning was 3C. We really have some strange weather this year!

LOL! Every breath you take is kind of creepy stalker-y -- but it's another song I really like in spite of the lyrics.

trissie, is dh in the US right now? WTG tackling the lawn mowing. That was nice of your neighbor to lend you his cable.
Kitty, I hope the party is fantastic! I suspect it will be with you at the planning helm.
CL, are you excited about creating a new routine for retirement days?
Happy Birthday to your mom, Gma! That's amazing - 101! I'm glad the party went well and I hope the next one does too.
Doggedly, your house must smell divine! I love chicken shawarma!

We were awoken this morning around 6:15 a.m. by a noisy wild turkey in our yard. We sleep with the window cracked open 365 days/ year - dh's preference. A European thing? A Dutch thing? The turkey eventually quieted down and we fell back asleep.

I have a lovely 3 day weekend with nothing extra on the schedule, other than an informal wedding shower Monday morning. 8-) 8-) Even better -- it is finally sunny again! ☀️ I SO need this time!

I don't think I got back here yesterday. I did everything for payroll - except end of session tasks. I stopped by to see my mom -- super short. I ordered groceries and put them away. Once again, I didn't jog; I could have probably squeezed it in before dinner, but dh needed to be done early to go shopping with dd26 for a new backpacking backpack. (REI was having a sale.) Planning to jog late in the afternoon is just a bad idea. I need to reoganize my schedule to get away from that; I'm tired after payroll.

Today: I have a little payroll to do - end of session tasks and edit the argumentative essay chapter. I WILL go for a jog - no excuse today. And I will visit Mom. I think I'll make a list of todos for the long weekend and hopefully, I can get to some of those. Dh and I are going on our weekly dinner date tonight; we ate at home last night bc of dh's shopping trip with dd26.

I'm still sore from my work out with the trainer on Thursday. :?

Goals for Today
1. Jog
2. Visit Mom
3. Clean sheets on bed
4. Progress with change of address cards for Mom
5. Progress with Mom's stuff in our house
6. Payroll: end of session tasks
7. Payroll: edit argumentative essay chapter
6. Dinner date!

Goals for Weekend
1. Repot baby orchid

4. Go through Mom's stuff in our room
5. Can I get to the knitting store?
6. Exercise significantly (Jog/ long walk) ___ ____ ____
7. Payroll: end of session tasks AND edit argumentative essay chapter
8. Update goodreads

Morning all. Yikes on the noisy night. I hope you got a little sleep. Didn't think you were usually up that early. That's too bad the guys seem to be not worried about crashing around all the time at night when he visits.

Trissie isn't that always how it goes when dh is away. Something doesn't work like it should. You have enough on your plate besides mowing.

Helian I hope you enjoy your less scheduled weekend.

Cl congratulations on retirement. I am sure it feels odd being done and clean out the classroom after doing it so long.

Well I need to plan my day. It was kind of a long dark night. A planned power outage from 10 last night and it just came back on 650 am. Major work on it I think. Waking up at night and felt my way to the bathroom. In the morning no water no coffee. Dh skipped his shower cause no time before his opening shift. And I finally went and got my own armload of firewood cause the electric heat didn't go at night. Brrrr. It's dribbling rain and overcast so not very warm.

I hope it's going to get nicer in a bit. The plan was to go take the stuff and plant dad's greenhouse and garden. I would rather a slower day as i worked too hard this week and my body is complaining. Freight was big and both Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday was my rug and my garden.

Oh and then tonight the kids I think are planning a movie night here so house full of 20 somethings most of them. Gone from the young adult teen bunch to mostly couples. All got married or about to lol. Good bunch of kids. Not sure how many are coming.

Oh well. I will take a slower morning. Call dad in an hour or so if he doesn't call first. I'd like to wait till after lunch but I'm sure he wants morning. I'll drag ds along to help. But first thing first routines and more coffee now it's made.

Priority list

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Floors
Go to greenhouse before and see what they have for a couple more plants
Plant greenhouse
Plant potatoes
Plant seeds of other veggies

Today's tada list

S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some
Empty and reload dw when done
Finish tidying kitchen all the way
Call dad if he doesn't call first

Hi everyone, quick CI, the day flew by so quickly.

Wishing Kittykatt a happy and successful party tonight !!

Special congrats to Gma's DM on her 101th birthday !

And hugs to all.

I hope to be here tomorrow morning... I managed to be busy all day so as not to think about yet-another-unpleasant-event at payroll. Not sure I want to elaborate. Let's just say, either my manger's manager is a total a**hole himself when it comes to managing people, or she (my manager) tricked him into believing something untrue and I had to go through a very unpleasant 15 minutes in his office - including yelling. And no, even for French people, yelling is not allowed between people at work (or anywhere else), despite some clichés I've heard about us French people.

Interesting discussion about the lyrics of the song being very creepy. There's this other song that I used to like, that now feels a bit creepy : When your heart is weak (by Cock Robin). There must be dozen others songs like that.
