Re: Tibetan Mastiff Thursday @ TDD - C&C
So much going on. I am describing myself as weary - not the kind of tired that sleep fixes.
I'll just set the timer for 15 mintues, do "stuff" in the Kitchen, then head to NH for mother's care conference, then return to her house so we can watch the owrkeres and plant some flowers.
And listen for the timer to go off so I can continue with ddog's eye routine.

Re: Tibetan Mastiff Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Hi, all. It is my one day off. My next weekend is my last before my trip to visit db, so I have taken some time to go through a bin of random stuff to find things I would like to bring on my trip. I seem to have bought a lot of small nylon bags or pouches for packing, so I want to get them washed and dried in time for the trip. I still have to do my two loads of clothes, though, because my crappy shift combined with the new rule locking the laundry rooms at 10:00 pm has put me behind on laundry. I haven't figured out the logistics of how to hang the extra laundry to dry yet. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Thanks for starting us off, trissie. Tibetan Mastiffs are beautiful, but I always laugh when I see their pictures. European people said "I need a dog to guard my sheep. It should be big, powerful, and white so that predators can't pick it out from the sheep." Tibetans said "I need a dog to guard my sheep. It should be big, powerful, and look like an adult lion with full mane to freak out my neighbours."
kittykatt, I hope that Freddie quickly gets over his tummy troubles.
Hi, helia. Another busy day for you.
Hi, CostumeLady. Dungeons and Dragons looks like such a fun game. I hope that your DH enjoys himself.
L.Ann,I am picturing your camelia-pruning as a Cirque De Soleil act, complete with trapeze and contortionists.
trissie, would it be possible for you to get some extra help around the house while your DH is away, like a cleaning service or mother's helper?
Hi, Peaches.
You are spread very thin, Gma. I hope that you find a break in there somewhere.

Re: Tibetan Mastiff Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Dogged, you generally need time (lots of it) to find reliable people who will do things that will save you time, and time is the one thing I am kinda lacking
LOL at the description of how Europeans and Tibetians breed their guarding dogs
L.Ann, I am sure you will find something else to occupy your time!
gma, you always work so hard, no wonder you are exhausted!
I am too. Exhausted, that is, don't know if "I am working so hard"
Dinner was lovely - slow cooker pork roast braised in milk with mashed potatoes, peas and corn, and there's plenty leftovers for lunch for me tomorrow. I need to clean up after dinner, get DBD ready for bed and oversee that DS packs his clothes for the scout trip and sends off his programming homework. And then handle the strawberries!
TaDas
- weed out DBD's pants/leggings drawer
- spiff up master bathroom
- finish dinner
- load of jackets
ToDos
- household evening routine
- DBD's evening routine - bath, speech therapy, meds, reading in bed
- oversee DS13's packing - as long as he selects his clothes, I'll handle the rest (I shouldn't, but he's too busy with homework...)

Re: Tibetan Mastiff Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Hello everyone!
I'm glad you safely survived the camelia trimming, L.Ann!
How long will the big kids be away for, Trissie?
I hope you manage to get the "bare essentials" washed in time for your trip, Dogged!
Freddie seems to be a lot better in himself today - thank you. We're going to keep him on the GI food until after the weekend, and then hopefully try again, introducing his usual diet food very slowly. If this doesn't work, then I'll keep him on the GI food until his next appointment on the 24th, and mention it to the vet
Enjoy breakfast with the ladies, CL!
I'm glad your DMum is eating and drinking well, Helian.
Gma, you are doing so much for everyone else. Please try and find some time for you (maybe you could make an "appointment" with yourself, and honour it like you would an appointment with someone else?)
Hi, Peaches!
Finally sitting down, with Matilda on my lap. It's been a full day. I left home early, having g got the house "engineer ready" and had time to hoover the car before church - I parked under one of the big trees in the churchyard , so was sheltered from most of the drips. Then I walked to the vet to pick up Fred's meds, Jude's laxapet and flea control. This took almost an hour, due to the vagaries of their (brand new!) computer system.
Church was good, but we had to leave almost immediately after the service, due to the funeral which was taking place in the church at midday. So, DF PM and I went to the community café for coffee and lunch and chat ... and more chat.
On the way home I stopped at the post office at the community shop to drop off a parcel. The engineer arrived soon after I got home, and it was a very successful visit. Everything is safe and in working order, and I was congratulated on the cleanliness of my cooker!
And he wants to come back again next year.
Waitrose has delivered, the groceries are PA and everyone apart from Freddie has been fed. He demanded a snack when I got home, loudly proclaiming he was starving and wasting away to nothing,
so I'll give him his supper later.
