We went to Costco - what an adventure on Saturday, especially pushing one of those pallet carts! Chairs are nice and we bought two for the porch. Putting them together will give dh something to do next week that isn't work, too! He also bought some acrylic bins to organize the garage freezer at Michaels also, and I had an enjoyable walk through there.

We have storms coming in again within the hour, and severe T storm watch until 8 p.m. I think. Storm last night blew through right as we were heading to temple, and dMillie did not like the thunder. I hated to leave her but thankfully it was over quickly, and we came home directly after services instead of trying to eat out. Neither of us were that hungry. I told him I'll have a grilled chicken salad tonight - we have leftover chicken, also leftover grilled pork chops for him.

I walked the dog as soon as we got home so that's done. No going out in rain and storm to walk later.

Dh leaves early in the morning for the memorial service in NY. His NY first cousin and wife are meeting him at the airport I think and putting him up, and they'll all go to the service together. DD may join them and is invited to sleep over at their house if she's rather not take trains etc. back home.

I'm continuing to work on setting up the refrigerator and getting food prepared. It is going to take me a couple of days to get the ready-to-eat food restocked. We have zero protein and zero carbs ready to eat. Right now, the food is going out faster than I am preparing. Eventually I will catch up and be back in my good prep routine. I just sent DS16 to order and pickup 3 pizzas. That should buy me a little time.

Cathy, so sorry to hear your ability to get in and out of driveway/roads will be blocked for a while. Hang out here with us. I know that "in advance" anger - especially for a man sometimes it's very hard to just accept something and be glad it will be temporary. I certainly hope the proceeds go to wise choices. Maybe in future, completely different routes will prove to be the pick for the event.

Twins', that would be lovely if your dd could be a part, too. I'm glad for the reconnection your dh has had with family.

Oh dear, Twins' is anticipating bad weather. I'd better check our forecast.

Another task that has been needed is done. I clipped my fingernails, which were longer than ever before, I believe. Interesting to me that because fingernail cells are among the slower growing cells, they are so much less affected by the treatments that target fast-growing ones. Hoping that this will improve my hand dexterity or at least be one less thing to feel awkward. Typing might be feeling better, actually, though the tingly-ness of what we hope is temporary neuropathy is still there.

Checking weather, yes it will be raining here this evening and tomorrow afternoon. They're not really using the word, "storms", but I see on the radar that Twins' is catching storms for sure. Hopefully, rains will be cleared off by the time of our trip out Monday, but the humidity and wet ground will certainly be with us. The humidity level is giving us chilly evenings inside - new AC certainly works fast. then we find ourselves uncomfortable, and it's about to be summer!

Next grandchild birthday gift is purchased.

HRH is playing a multi-player game with faraway friends online and they seem to be having fun. Also, he has been teasing me a lot. Whew. He feels better. I hope upcoming appts with drs are informative. He lost weight while I lost weight, and gen prac dr questions my idea that could just be sympathetic, or just because he had no one to eat with. Hmmm... .. He is down to our wedding day weight, after dating and trying to look nice then, lol, and generally being more than a quarter-century younger.

I've been child-free for about 3 hours. DGD will be here tonight (probably soon) because she and dgs swapped nights (so he could get two nights in a row like she had.) Sigh. They do try to keep it equal. SMH. (They are out with ddil's family for supper, celebrating ddil's brother's birthday.

Since dgs left, I have
* watched Auburn lose the super regional baseball game to Coastal Carolina
* finished vacuuming the hard floors in the center bath, den/dining room, kitchen -- still need to do laundry room and master bath,
-- AND rugs/carpet in the rest of the main areas of the house. This is just the quick WHB "hit the middles" vacuuming. But having my front windows open, I did see dust bunnies elephants in a few corners, etc, and I did a little spot cleaning in a couple places.
* typed the church minutes and emailed to pastor and those who need to see this
* TRIED to troubleshoot printer to no avail -- all it says is "low paper" but I have filled the paper as much as it will hold, and it has the blue light which means "connected -- ready to use" but it obviously is NOT ready to use.

Cathy, there used to be a Jesse Owens 10K that went right by our house. (Olympian track star Jesse Owens was born here.) Our church youth would set up a water station in our driveway so IKWYM about being "trapped" at home! They discontinued this race some years ago, but apparently they have renewed it as of this year -- I didn't know that, didn't see anything about it until the results were in the paper a few weeks ago, and they honored a deceased runner who was one of the leaders in getting it started to begin with. If it went by my house this time, I certainly slept through it.

Twins -- we had a severe thunderstorm warning a few hours ago, but it is clear and sunny right now. Rain is supposed to start up around 10:00 pm tonight and continue through most of the day tomorrow. Hope your dh and dd have a good visit with family, even though the circumstances are sad.

Nancy, I always sorta panic when the boards are down. I'm glad I slept through all that!
Monday has always been my laundry day, but I may have to re-think that. It would be best to do WHB on Mondays, because that will be the day dgs is most likely to be with me, and he minds his own business and is pretty independent of me. He says he wants to be here all the time, but he doesn't need me to be actively playing with him all the time, like dgd does. I try to keep reminding myself, she is growing up so fast, and she's not going to want me with her all the time for long.

Cathy, I would have loved to go to our library book sale too, but OTOH -- WHEN am I going to get through my "to be read" pile already. I can imagine myself just having paths to walk through between the maze of books. I've got to stop playing games on my phone and start reading real books.

LadyM -- I can relate to keeping teens/preteens fed. But this is an example of how well dgs and I manage things -- he let me sleep late, finished off a box of Cheerios, and didn't concern me for food until much later, when he asked if I would fix a frozen pizza. DGD would be begging to go to McD's. Of course, dgs has his moments when nothing but Subway will do, LOL. I think he would be happy to eat there every day.

YES. DGS and I went out on the porch during the storm, and it was so hot out there, when I came in I had to put on a sweatshirt because it felt so cold in the house.

lucylee, that is frustrating about getting things nearly done and having the printer act up. Hope it cooperates soon. I like Subway, too. We also have Firehouse but do not find it quite the value or as accommodating to allow one's own choices. I was pleased to hear, actually, that your dmother called just to chat - that's nice. I hope she feels well and optimistic.

One more little tada - I washed my hair without asking for any prepping or finish-up of bathroom at all from HRH. I wash it at side of bathtub most efficiently rather than sink, and I got up and down fine.

With that done, laundry load in progress and drip-dries will be easy to hang.

There is a world (?) famous cancer hospital in Toronto called The Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital. This event this weekend is an annual event called "The 2025 Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer" and this is the first year they have been anywhere close to our neighbourhood. It isn't a problem for me, but my dh gets mad about the strangest things for the strangest reasons (in my opinion). He gets furiously angry at "things" like the weed whacker, his computer, putting on his shoes, trying to hook his trailer up to his truck, and it results in tools getting thrown around the inside of the garage if he happens to be working out there. Dh and I have discussed this and he has told me numerous times that his anger is never directed at me, my actions or in my direction. He has gone to anger management courses in the past. I have no fear of him, but I fear for him, if you know what I mean.

Right now he is peacefully watching a football game and the team he doesn't like is losing badly, so he's happy about that.

Today Kathryn has been on my mind, and her annual trip to the lake north west of where she lives.

Our weather people continue with their drama mode. I can certainly understand Cathy DH anger because it would be so easy to join him (although for a different reason). We are regularly told (4 times this week) to prepare for >>insert drama mode description of horrible storms <<< and then nothing happens. We get a few drops of rain. Last night I just ignored them and went to bed and slept well. DFriends were saying "call me if it really does happen". There is a high probability that someday bad weather will really happen, but we are worn out from the fake & drama predictions that we quit paying attention. So yeah. Anger is an emotion that feels familiar. This is some of the weather predictions for tomorrow -
** Tomorrow evening has the chance to be Very Bad. Threats include up to baseball size hail as well as a tornado possible.
** Straight line winds to exceed 100mph
** A few tornadoes, destructive wind gusts of 80-100 mph, and very large hail are possible.
** Large hail, straight line winds over 75 mph, and isolated tornadoes
** Huge risk upgrade to a level four, this is for the threat of damaging winds 80 to 90 mph. With that the risk of damaging hail up to the size of baseballs and there is a tornado risk.
And finally an honest Meteorologist without drama stating the facts.... The computer models having a hard time figuring out what exactly is going to happen tomorrow. The exact timing and placement of storms on Sunday is still uncertain. Let’s wait and see what tonights data looks like before jumping to conclusions. Just use common sense and you are fine folks.

Goodness, LadyM, I hope the amazing predictions are as clearly unnecessary tomorrow and your area is safe. Once we had a local tv station that promised to keep track of how many times their weather reports were correct (by some set standard or another) and how many times incorrect. They took it very seriously for a while and maybe more people watched their station, I don't know. That was years back.

The laundry is done and hung up without asking for help.

I do notice that HRH is going to need a reminder to always clean out the dryer lint trap/filter.

Dd26 sent photos of her evening out tonight at some very nice restaurant I've never heard of - someplace old and historic. It is their wedding anniversary tomorrow. Can't believe it's been a year.

We watched some tv tonight together and HRH decided to go to bed early-ish for him, to hopefully keep feeling better with enough rest. I'm a little perplexed that what he ate today almost all came from Har dees (fast food chain), brought by his brother. I'm pretty sure we can't credit heavy fast food for feeling well - not in the long run. He did eat one peach with me.
