Balance. Rest. Something fun.
I agree!

Our day started early with DS16 out the door to spend many hours planting wheat. This is DS16 first year to do it, so his excitement level was high. Yesterday the boss showed him how to get everything ready - went to coop and bought the wheat seed, planter hooked up to big tractor and setting checked. However, like most farm tasks the weather dictates when and if things get done. DS16 started planting but the big tractor was sinking too much in the plowed field, so he stopped and will let the field dry out today. He will try planting it again tomorrow.
The boss leaves today for a fishing trip in Canada so DS16 will be doing it on his own. eeeks! DS16 asked me if I have ever planted wheat and I told him about my experiences from the years we used to do it. However, what combination works with one tractor and field will be different using different equipment and field size/shape. With the boss gone, DS16 is just going to have to do his best and realize he will make mistakes. If he plants the same field next year, he will know and do better.

I can feel my stress level dropping as Dh returns to normal.

I have been to the garden every hour since daylight. It is glorious weather to be outside. It truly brings me such joy to just walk around and piddle. Feed the fish......pick & eat some red, ripe strawberries as I am walking around.....brush the herbs to spread the smells - basil, mint, dill, etc.....decide which of the dozens of flowers to cut and bring indoors......there are endless ways of finding something to enjoy. This morning I planted 3 kinds of cucumbers in the newly cleared raised beds. Earlier this year those beds were growing broccoli, onion, garlic, mustard greens and potatoes but they were harvested.

we left the tv running when we went to bed - not good

we had to work together to get mom up and clean.

we had a lot of biting, kicking, pinching, spit at us and a lot of "go to He.." double hockey sticks but at least she talked nice to dogs
She was in bed until 10 am and we had to clean her up. we were really gentle all morning giving her lots of time. We finally had to get her up and were gentle but mom's brain sees it as an attack.
we took her outside and she ate - loving the dogs but angry at us but no longer biting us or kicking us
now we are getting the silent treatment and the side eye when I asked if she was done with breakfast - ;)

she did this yesterday afternoon and then I got her back again.

I can't imagine how foggy and scary her mind is in these moments.

restarting the day-!!! "I've got a new attidude ;) ;) ;) :D
she is sitting outside with us and I need to work

I will make an appointment with dd Youngers neurologist for mom. I would like to see if we where her brain is in her alzheimer journey.

Dh was in his chair on his phone forever and I sat down on the couch to read. Things quiet for awhile then he needed a grocery list, and after couldn't let me just read. He's gone but I'm stewing and need to get over it.

I am starting timer at 2:15 to clean things up, prep for tonight, and finish a.m. routine (s2s too.) I'll probably go a couple of rounds if he doesn't manage to interrupt me. I'm prepping a short "honey do" list for him.

Two sets of dneighbors over tonight, will be fun. House doesn't need that much but there's more I can do, so I'll get busy.

Oooops, as usual I started working with out posting.

I freshened the powder room, cleaned up George foreman grill from last night's use, and cleaned kitchen sink to ungunk it. Got oral care done, straightened our bathroom and MBR. Not done in MBR. Started short list for dh, who is still not back. i assume he's out looking for collectible bourbon while he's going to get groceries. I turned down the a/c a bit. I need it.

So I'm going again, this time to include s2s, finish MBR and bathroom clean up.

hello again - we have mom back again! this one was longer than usual. Cheerful and with it. I wasn't sure if she would come around the other side of the moon, (this time).

d twins I understand that - hope you get some time to read!
How about a long honey do list
have fun with your neighbors tonight! yay on your work!!!!

she is taking a rest even though she didn't eat lunch - she had some coffee ice cream. (her favorite)
I heard her say "this is nice" about having cool sheets on her bed.

once she rests I will go outside again -
my drip system is having problems -

last night mom and I watch MHZ "the French village" Alsace and Lorraine. Mom liked it a lot. I have to figure out how to get it on my Apple TV.

mom rested for an hour - and woke up on her own.
she is eating right now.
dd older helped me get he up - mom wanted to be up and got her legs over the side.
I did a bit of deadheading - I wish I had more time.

praying that dd orders license comes in so that she can travel to Florida on Wednesday. The state said that they shipped it.

I have to balance my day better. and find a way to do it with mom when helpers are not here.

I haven't done the simple basics yet but I did work outside for a bit.

DS16 has 3 friends here. They are about to load up and go for an adventure at nearly city.

I'm in a weird eating mood. I almost never eat a sandwich but decided today I wanted one. Then I decided to make brownies in the air fryer. So simple! I did weigh and record everything I ate so I stayed aware.

104F is the feels like temp today. I am starting to get used to walking outside and it feels like a hot oven. Tomorrow is 102F and then it drops down into the 90's for the next week.

DH helped me catch the rest of the fish and move them to the bigger water feature in the garden. The smaller water feature was getting too hot for them to survive.

Ugh. I did my usual again. Music prep is done. Honestly I have slowly gotten a little ways but nothing is done. Digging rocks out of the area i want for flower bed. Only abou 6 or 7 feet left? But I can't finish it in one day. Didn't go to the greenhouse. No motivation to be there. And I have done nothing in my house other than a little kitchen work.

I dig myself into a hole of discouragement. Dh did what he wanted this morning in a thorough mowing and trimmed while I was doing music. His hobby is reading and mine is hard to find but gardening tbat barely works. Crafts that I can't find a start on. I want to finish something but it's hard to motivate me to clean and organize when he is just reading. Eventually he came and helped me with the Digging some. And decluttered his office drawers looking for the stud finder. Which he realized now he might have used at church?

I think I'm going to make coffee. Take something out for supper and at least start over with routines.

How do you all work around the slump of discouragement?

it does sound hot d lady - hope you get some relief soon!
hope your ds enjoys his fun with his friends.
well done on moving the fish

Give yourself some grace d Laura - your discouragement may be a bit of depression, exhaustion and/or trying to do too much. When discouragement hits me, and it does, I find doing only 2-3 simple things in that day helps.I also come here!!! You work, you have a family, you are a busy woman! Don't forgot to give yourself time - 1/2 hour even for just you. You can only do so much - be kind to you! I am truly proud of you!

waving again - mom and I watched the Arc de Triumph on MHZ - mom was very engaged with it and she would talk about it as we were watching it.
What a difference from this morning! This was a very hard morning and early afternoon.

Dd older is never on mom's bad side and she was surprised by what happened. Mom usually will agree to do what ever dd older wants. dd younger reminded dd older that on the weekends, that dd older is more of a caretaker.

in about a half and hour I will get mom ready for bed.
she ate an apple and had half a bottle of water.
