Watched some of the procession for the CDA fire fighters with flags on the over passes on the freeway.
Very emotional day.
Some mail came for LH... sigh...
Ate my cheese cake.
It's getting to hot to be outside now.

Did some knitting glad for hearing the birds.
Finished that project I was knitting on.

I use bag balm on my hands for dry skin.

Dh and I both laid down and had a nap. I guess we celebrated having a day at home together. Almost everything is closed, so I couldn't go anywhere or do anything. Tomorrow I have some errands to do.

I did a small load of laundry and now there is a blanket in the washer. I've also taken out a bag of garbage.

All that I really need to do is clean all 3 litter boxes. Gee, I wonder why I left those for last.

Vergerwife…happens to the best of us☺️

I forgot to mention.. I use a deep cleaning oil on my face, not soap. I use Estée Lauder night repair and then my moisturizer. I have very, very dry skin.

vergerswife, too bad we missed your post, but we'll look forward to hearing from you. You have been thought of often.

Nancy, I'm sure it was a very emotional and sobering event to view. What a sad thing.

Congratulations to Twins' Dad on a new phase in life, and happy retirement.

Managed some Desk Day today. Got more bill paying done by phone.

It was an easy laundry day, but still, it's complete.

Found out it is not recyclables week after all, but the trash is out and waiting.

Ds and dgdC came to see us and we had a fun visit. Ds started yesterday in getting his 4-year degree in Fire Science. He already had the 2-year along with so many certificates and training courses, so this will only take a matter of months, not even close to a year. I've been lobbying for the 4-year for a while - want him to have as good an education as he can. He's still young. He doesn't understand why I am so pleased that he will be taking courses about the world, about psychology, but that's exactly what I want him to be learning/gaining. Their household news is that they have put up an above-ground 18-foot pool and the children love it.

They say my voice is almost back to normal.

At the six-month mark of 2025, I've started back to my circular habit tracker for nutrition.

Happy Canada Day to our neighbors to the north! Hope y'all have a fun day, Cathy!

Yes, vergerswife, you are in my thoughts and prayers... and those firefighters' families, Nancy. And (((HUGS))) for you. Anniversaries are difficult.

WTG to Harriet's DS, continuing his education! AND, I am so glad to hear of more normalcy for YOU, Harriet!

I hope the dentist appt went okay, LadyM. Even a normal cleaning is stressful for me. You did great getting so much food ready to eat, BTW. I admire how you do that!

Rose, it is good that you and Sweetie have such a good understanding and that he is willing to talk to you about future things you will need to know. I don't think my dh would have reacted the same way in this situation. I think he had a feeling he wasn't going to be here for the long term, re: dgrands, although he did often say he wanted so badly to see them grow up; he wanted to dance at dgd's wedding. But I think somehow he knew that wasn't going to happen. BUT... he also seemed to have an attitude that I would be fine, and was sorta in denial about things I might could have used some instruction on. But I made it through tax season and I'm still hanging in here, so maybe he was right.

Our Independence Day is Friday, but I doubt I will do anything out of the ordinary. We used to take the dgrands to a huge fireworks show in Next Town. They still have the fireworks, but DS has about decided it is too much trouble. The traffic is unreal. It is kinda sad, though -- this used to be a huge thing and it had been going on for 58 years -- they had a beauty contest that was a preliminary to the state contest, major bands would play, President Reagan even came once to speak. They gave out a couple of awards to citizen-heroes and there were activities for the kids all day, food trucks, etc. Today's paper said there will be nothing at all this year except the fireworks. I shouldn't complain -- I never went to any of the events during the day -- I just don't like the crowds and the heat. Apparently, a lot of people feel the same way; the newspaper article said attendance had really been slipping since Covid.

When I was growing up, the plant my dad worked at had a big 4th of July event that we always attended. I loved that. They served bar-b-que, and had well-known entertainers, along with all sorts of games for the kids -- like the games at the fair, pick up ducks or "fishing" for a prize, stuff like that. They also had a big playground with different kinds of swings and things. LOL -- they had a merry-go-round that you sat on and your feet would dangle below, and someone would push it and get it going. When I was little, I thought that thing was HUGE. I took dgrands over there once, and I was so amazed at how small it was!!! The fireworks there were also the best I've ever seen, but that might be a trick of the mind, as well. One of the last years we went, OG came and sat with my family, so I have some special memories from that 4th of July celebration. (These might be a trick of the mind as well. I wonder if OG showed up today, would he still seem bigger than life to me.)

ANYWAY... today, I have basically hit the wall. After two nights in a row with basically no sleep till daylight, today I slept pretty much all day long.
DGS woke me up at 11:00 a.m. and said he was about to leave -- DS and other granddaddy were coming to get him and they were going to eat at a new Cuban sandwich shop they had discovered. DGS thought he would be back to spend the night again, but I haven't heard from any of them since he left. They ate supper at the other grandparents' tonight for dgs' birthday.
I finally got out of bed, but slept on and off while lying on the couch for most of the afternoon. It was 6:00 pm before I finally roused myself enough to go get the paper and supper for myself. I'm going to take some of the kids' melatonin tonight to see if maybe I can get myself back on something more of a regular schedule.
I may go to the church tomorrow to help the pastor with the bulletins. She asked for volunteers last Sunday, until we hire a new secretary.
I do NOT intend to go until after 10:00 because that is when the children's group will leave for the trampoline park. I have very mixed feelings about chaperoning the children's activities. One one hand, I enjoy talking to all the other ladies who will be going, but OTOH, it's a long, noisy day and social anxiety gets in my way. I told DS and ddil last night that DGD would want to spend the night tonight, but to tell her no, because DS needs to take her to the church activity; they won't ask him to stick around to chaperone.

My allergies have been bothering me today also. I was trying to cut back on my shots, but that may not be a good idea. Or it could be that, shots or not, I'd be having trouble. They cut hay last weekend across the road from me, and they could be cutting hay in my front yard right now! The grass in my yard is as high as the grass in the pasture -- it's the same grass. Living in the middle of this pasture, the weeds/fescue?/whatever it is -- just blows its seed into my yard and it looks horrible!!! Plus we've had enough rain that people are beginning to consider building arks again... SMH... it has been great for my new little trees, but it is awful for the yard. And Thursday will be 3 weeks since the man mowed. PLUS, the fire ant (pest control) man emailed today and if he gets here before the yard man, he will complain about the grass, I am sure. He made a note of it once before. He's from the same company that wanted to do $4000 worth of work under the floor. Sigh.

Boy, I can't do anything but complain, can I? I will try to do better tomorrow.
Tomorrow is another day.
