Good afternoon.
Sending warm thoughts to you all, especially while you all deal with different forms of stress, loss, pain that is life. I’ve tried to cuops and see some struggles. I don’t have wise words but know that you’re in my thoughts and my hope is you find joy in some small thing today.
For Gma, my dmil kept wanting to go home even when she lived at home, where she had been all of her adult life, (before we had to admit her to a nh) so I’m thinking that “home” is more of a feeling to us, not a physical place, like you mentioned, when your mother was independent and did as she pleased. I hope you can relax when you go to the cabin.
Dogged, did you quit your job? I may have missed that. I hope you get a nice summer break and find a better fit in employers when the need arises.
I’ve been a lounge lizard with spurts of energy this weekend. I don’t like to get out on a holiday weekend like this with crazy traffic. I took everything off the porch, hosed it down with a cleaner to get rid of mildew, as well as the furniture, it looks wonderful. I’ve put some back but we’ve been getting daily thunderstorms (which I love) that have slowed down progress. Slow and steady wins the race as some say. I’m telling myself that so I don’t feel rushed.
I’ve done my morning chores and am sitting with whitener on my teeth for a short break, then I’ll focus on the kitchen and laundry for a bit.

L.ann, so sorry to hear about dd32. I hope getting started early with abx will get the infection back into control. You have so been looking forward to vacation, and it is so needed.

Hi, everybody, I again don't have time for individual greetings.

My planned weekend at my cabin is now altered. Elderly friend death was announced at chruch this morning. funeral is on Friday. I was planning to go to cabin on Thursday. well, that's not going to happen now. I will have to call them tomorrow and tell them they have to find someone else for the hour that I was going to volunteer on Friday. Last time I planned a "day off" dlittle dog got an eye issue that needed treatment 5 x a day, so I gave that ticket away too. The quilt auction is Saturday, so I think that I can make that. And I was planning to use the cabin internet, plus the peace and quiet, to do my online continuing education to renew my license (which doesn't come due until November, so I have to be done by end of Oct).

I'm home from church, want to eat something, do a lol for Mom, then go see her, and bring more pictures. I found some from a vacation taken on a rented houseboat, early 2000s. She will enjoy reminiscing (and I hope not badger me to take her home)

Tomorrow I have my own osteoporosis injection, then take dfBS to see her Dr, and if there's time, to go to a retirement party. I may just have to send a card and miss the party.
Story of my life.... Is this what adulthood, retirment is supposed to be? I liked my childhood! It was fun.

Hi, Bama. Speaking for myself alone, I would prefer refrigerated thoughts to warm ones, packed with an ice pack. It's a little warm here. I think they said Humidex over 40 C. But we've just had a good hard shower and the wind looks like more might be on the way, which should help. I'm enjoying the rain too.
I have handed in my notice at work, but still have a couple more weeks to go before I'm done. I'm old enough to qualify for the govt pension and, while it's not enough to live on, it will let me drop down to part time work. My current employer doesn't do part time, so I'm taking the summer off and then I'll look for part time work in the fall. If I can't find part time, I'll look at shorter term full time like seasonal work or contract.

I paid all of my bills and then went and lay down for a while. I've had one of my rice and veg bowls and I'm baffled but I just want to go back to bed. I think that I actually might put the timer on and see if that satisfies that urge and I can get on with things after that.

We're home from church. Dh went to visit my mom and then work in a coffee shop. I've had lunch, made a groc. list, and made a Kroger order. Next, I'm going to get the fresh produce items at WF. I'm cooking for 8 people tonight, but it's a simple, yummy, and lo-cal recipe.

Dh thinks I'm crazy to plan to walk in the hot temps. I don't know. . . It would be good to be active each day, and I dislike walking in a circle on the gym's track - or on a treadmill. Hmmm....

I fell into quite a deep sleep and now feel energized to start my day. I stepped out of the kitchen to see Germane taking credit for the air conditioner's misbehaviour: a long trail of water from the overflowing drip tray to Germane's pee pads. Germane decided that it was close enough to pee on the pee pad that she deserved a treat. She got one.

Thank you, helia. I think that the change in the balance will make all the difference to me.
It's great that your DH will visit your dmother. So often this falls on the wife alone. It's good to see.

Thanks for all of the good wishes everyone. My fingers and toes are still crossed! One of the reasons I walk so many times, helian is because of the weather. My goal is to do a mile at a time which puts me around 25 minutes as I am not super fast. I walk even if it is hot and humid although in temps in the 90s I try to do at least some early morning and after dinner walks.
