Good morning / good afternoon, Helia and L.Ann.

Helia, you sound as though you're having a lovely relaxing time with your friends and the homemade food sounds delicious!

How is Little Bit 's ear today, L.Ann? ( Or maybe you don't have her on Saturday?)

I had a lovely walk through the valley park and along by the stream. I met Dog walker A with B, her little dog, who I haven't seen for ages, so we had a little catch up.

Then I walked through the estate on the way home and past the house that had a garage sale a couple of weeks ago, (they have recently sold their house, so will be moving soon) and has now arranged the "leftovers" on the front lawn with a "Free, please take!) sign by them. There was very nice set of three stainless steel saucepans with lids, that decided they were coming home with me. The bases underneath were fairly disgusting, with a thick layer of burnt on grease, but they responded well to scrubbing with my silver scrubbie and Barkeepers friend, and are now in the dishwasher, so we'll see how they come up.

I don't think we actually *need* another set of saucepans (except for maybe another small sized one?), and they aren't quite as good quality as our existing set, but they are still nice and they certainly weren't cheap! I'm sure someone at church will know of someone who needs a good set of saucepans, or DH's amateur dramatic group is supporting.the local food bank as their charity for this year, so they may know of someone.

I'm now going to have a few minutes in my front garden, then do something in the kitchen before the sun gets round there.

Good for you for not cluttering your kitchen with pots you don't need, kittykatt!
helia, a picnic lunch in a state park, how lovely! Are you going home, or just moving to a different location?
hi there, L.Ann! Is it your summer deep cleaning session that makes you declutter in the kitchen?

I'm back! The unpacking is definitely happening outside, there's grass, mud and ants in everything :-) DBD has been showered, then bathed, fed, and is now getting reacquainted with her toys while I am having a cup of coffee. The first of what I think will be 6 loads of laundry (2x lights, 2x darks, 1x colors, 1x sports towels, swimsuits and other stuff that should not go into dryer - it's easier to separate it as I am unpacking then to go through wet laundry trying to figure out what is black panties and what is black swimsuit bottoms!) is in the washer,

TaDas
- 15 on finishing touches in DBD's room
- 15 on laundry
- 15 in twins' room
- pick up DBD
- lunch
- last load of stuffed animals
- linens transferred to drying rack
- unpacked enough to make first load of lights
- load of lights No. 1 in washer

ToDos
- midday routine
- 15 on laundry
- 15 on unpacking

Braindump

- pay bills (water, hotel bill for DH and the kids)
cleaning
- clean twins' room
- clean office
- spiff up master bedroom
- spiff up master bathroom
- spiff up DBD's room
- spiff up DS13's room
- spiff up kitchen
- spiff up downstairs hallways and bathroom
- strip and remake all beds
laundry
- load of lights
- load of colors
- load of darks

That is a marathon laundry session, Trissie! And how wise to unpack outside - mid, grass and ants definitely do not belong indoors.Did DBD enjoy camp?

I've spent some time in my garden, and I'm now prepping lunch for tomorrow. I also need to bake a cake. Maybe cherry cake? It takes quite a while to bake, so I can hoover downstairs and dust the sitting room while it's in the oven.

Kittykatt, that makes sense and I have some sympathy for your DH's confusion over sizing. The plus size stores here tend to flatter their customers by putting a lower size on larger clothing, so when I go shopping I have to wrap the garment around my hips to see if it's worth even trying it on. And I am completely defeated by sizing for foundation garments.

Trissie, imagine your girls being old enough to come home on their own on public transportation. The years just whizz by us. I can't imagine what it is like for you, looking at your dkids and realizing "Yes, you are actually old enough to do this."

Oh, I love shepherd's pie, Kittykatt. (We can anything that looks like shepherd's pie by that name. It could be seal meat and we would still refer to shepherds.) You get a break from cooking tonight. Extra time in the garden?

helia, I got to see Rocky Horror in the movie theatre, when we were throwing toast in the air and putting newspaper over our heads for the rain scene. I experienced Monty Python's Flying Circus the way that you experienced Rocky Horror: I couldn't watch it myself, but I was surrounded by people reciting the dialogue over and over.

Good morning, L.Ann.

trissie, you have enough laundry that it makes sense to separate the loads. I started out separating loads into whites, light colours, darks, and odd loads like bedding. Then I read that this system that I was raised with was based on natural fibres and pigments that ran in the wash, but that new clothes don't normally do that. Since I'm one person, it helped a lot to combine all the colours and just separate whites and odd things from the main wash.

I try to do a quick declutter of at least some areas when I do my seasonal cleaning, Trissie. I am always surprised at how many things I am willing to get rid of each time I go through cabinets and drawers. The kitchen is my last room for summer and then I won’t start again for a couple of weeks. I don’t have Little Bit on the weekends, kittykatt. We are going to the movie with her and her mom though later today.

Hi Dogged! I just divide my laundry by person so it is easier to put away. Every now and then I do something separately.

Dogged, while syntetics are safe to wash together, cotton (and especially organic cotton) still bleeds, especially the first couple washes. I even use color catching sheets for all the color and dark loads and they rarely come out white! Of course, with four kids there's constantly some new attire and weird stains and all that, and while it may take a week to gather enough for a load of colors (now that the twins hate pink), there's enough darks to do two loads a week even in our almost industrial sized washer (don't know how washers are classified in USA/Canada, here it's by the maximum weight of a load. Normal size is 5 kilos, ours is 9 kilos).
L.Ann, it sometimes takes several times of looking at a thing before you finally admit to yourself that you really don't need it!

My list is a rinse and repeat, and probably will be for some time.

That makes sense, when you are doing laundry for multiple people, L.Ann. Do you still separate out the whites? WTG on your ongoing decluttering, instead of saving it for one overwhelming project. I might get there one day!

trissie, I suspect that there is not a lot of natural fibers in my closet, which is why washing everything together is working out for me. You really need the larger sized washer/dryer, with the amount of laundry that you must get through.

I have been wandering around the government web site, which can be a big time suck, but it was worth it. I found my Record Of Employment to confirm that my previous employer had sent it in, and found enough information in it that I don't think that I will have to ask them to send me my last two pay stubs.

Today there are most of my favourite radio shows, so I won't be doing anything noisy or out of the apartment until 2:00 pm. There's still plenty to do here.

Saturday
Cleaned up after Germane
Gave Germane her Benedryl
Put away dry dishes
Gathered the recycling that was drying on the counter
Put away dry laundry
Put away small drying rack
Wandered around govt web site until I found my Record Of Employment.
Checked it.
