Morning all. Hmm maybe the harvest time of those veggies makes it unheard of. Those are mid winter times great for areas like kittykat where there is minimal snow that stays. I've never even seen seed for such...
Frenchie that is so unfortunate timing ds7 was sick on the holidays. Definitely takes the enjoyment away. I hope he's better now.
Helian can you keep up with all that social activity today? Make sure you take some rest time to recover. I know very minimal info on that disease.
Gma and Bama thanks for all the useful info. Might be somewhat different in Canada but similar I am sure. I actually almost wonder if dad had the right paper and it didn't have to be completely legible mom could be given a pen and shown where and she might get it. He says she can't. I feel like she understands way more than given credit for. He is still of sound mind and in charge of his own decisions. We just see the bigger picture and he is very hard to help. He wants poa. I do wonder if I could get it for both of them now. Then it's useful later? But I don't know if that would help. Too much I don't understand. And yes that is my plan. Find someone from church or work with experience. The thing is I see cases where mom or dad is alone and the kids are caring. Not so much where both are alive and the husband or wife is and the kids are next. If that makes sense.
Sunday. And it should be a warm one. Church and then see what comes of the day.
Basic routines first.

Re: Salsify Sunday
I fell asleep as soon as I worte that post!
welcome back from holiday, FFB. How I loved reading to/with ds. It'a a wonderful activity! We had short illustrated books and some chapter books that were geared to that age. What does he like to read with you? t really helaped his reading skills in school.
Glad you got on the right antibiotic, helian.
Laura, the POA quits when the person dies. Then it is the "executor of the estate" that becomes responsible. It is good to have POA for both mom and dad, individually, for future. And singing authority on checks for when they need help paying bills. You can assure your father it does not give you ownership of the money just to have signing authority. You can be "owner" by making it joint account, which is different from signing authority. Then the money is nor frozen upon death. Mother has me and one sister as joint owners, which gives signing authority plus protects the account if mother and I would be killed together in a car accident (certainly hope not!) And yes, I think, with you, that she can understand enough to sign her name. ("Mom I need you to sign this document so that I can help Dad take care of you")
Nwo it's time for me to get ready for church.

Re: Salsify Sunday
Thanks for the knowledge and start to the day, kittykatt. Another thing I’ve never heard of. The older I get, the less I realize I know. In my teens and 20s I knew EVERYTHING!
Welcome home, Frenchflybebe! I’m glad you enjoyed the trip, sorry ds was sick. Looks like you’re going to be busy now with the school year starting up.
Helia, what an interesting dynamic with you and dh. It must work well as you two are doing great. And you do more sick than I do well lol.
Have a great Sunday, LAnn.
Laura, good luck with everything. Maybe you could get dad to sign papers for HIS future which would cover care for your mom as well when he becomes incapable of doing so… might make an easier transfer of care when the time comes. I do understand his way of thinking, getting older and having to give over a lifetime of what was his responsibility to someone else he raised. It’s hard for me to believe my girls would do what I want when the time comes, I think it’s just from being the mom for so long and now they think differently than I do…would I want them deciding for me when I might want something different. Everything will work out in the end.
Gma, have a good day.
Slow morning here, I sent dh out to get breakfast, crispito and bacon. Will decide how we spend our Sunday as we go along. Nothing is pressing for today other than the same stuff as always so not sweating it.
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥

Re: Salsify Sunday
LOL, that sounds more useful and easier to live with than the picture that I had for bush hog, Bama.
Thanks for starting us off, Kittykatt. I have never seen any of these vegetables in our stores, but I have heard of them. Only because I watched a Youtube video entitled something like "Medieval Vegetables That We Should Grow Today."
Hi, Gma. I'm glad that you got some extra sleep in, however you got it, LOL.
Welcome home, FrenchFly. I'm sorry that your DS7 was ill. I hope that you all got to make good memories the first week.
All good things, but helia you are not well. If you need to take time out to lie down and let your immune system work on fighting off the Lyme Disease, please take it. Your friends will surely understand.
Hi, L.Ann. Good advice.
Lauralind, we don't know a lot about Lyme Disease because until pretty recently, it was unknown here. In the 80's and 90's, people in Southern Ontario were starting to get it, but couldn't get diagnosed in Canada until the disease was so advanced that they were permanently disabled. Doctors had been trained that this is not a disease that we get here, so they didn't test for it. By some time in the 80's, people who suspected that they might have it were travelling to the U.S. to get diagnosed and then bringing the test results back to show their doctors. I believe that by now, we all understand that this is now a Canadian disease as well.
Hi, Peaches.
Hi, Bama. What is crispito? I learn so much here! Hooray for a leisurely morning.
I have an achieved goal to report. I still look around the apartment and see only clutter, so feel that I am wasting too much of my summer off, but today I started washing the dishes and ran out of dishes to wash. I finished up the water by taking dishes out of the cupboard of dishes waiting to be rewashed. I can actually join the exalted group of people who can keep up with dishes. No Mount Dishmore. It feels like a big deal to me, who always felt like Alice running as fast as I could just to stay in place.

Re: Salsify Sunday
Little Bit starts school after Labor Day, FFB. She will go to the church preschool 5 mornings a week and then next year she will be in kindergarten in her local public school. She is super excited. You can do a poa before you need it Laura. I have one written by a lawyer for both medical and financial for me. My daughters can use them when needed. I did them at the same time I did a will. One of mom’s accounts I could sign checks on using my power of attorney once it was approved by the bank and the other account we were both joint owners of. DD32 has them too that I use because her speech makes communication with doctors difficult.
Little Bit went home. So now I need to figure out what I want to do. I definitely need some me time! I seem to have gotten poison ivy on my hand somewhere. The only place I can figure is when I pulled a few weeds around the patio. I do know what poison ivy looks like so. Am not sure what happened.

Re: Salsify Sunday
Lann do you have stinging nettle there? That's another one that can be itchy and sore and maybe more in where you were weeding. At least here but I don't think we have much poison ivy. Completely opposite end of the continent tho .
So many of these things we should have done when mom first started declining...
I'm off to church im a bit too

Re: Salsify Sunday
L Ann, oh no on the hand! There is also poison oak and probably others. I hope you have some lotion or something. I'm not looking forward to taking the doxy med. I don't want to take it with chocolate milk because of the calories. I've been eating some nonfat plain yogurt after taking my evening antibiotic. Maybe that would work? Instructions say to take it with 8 ounces of water and not to lie down for 30 minutes.
FFB, I'm knitting a small baby blanket for dgbaby.
I've never been to Maastricht!
Hi Peaches.
I'm really not actively sick, Bama. My sinus headache has cleared as have the fevers. I do feel tired - and I feel the headache is coming back a bit.
Big WTG with being caught up with the dishes, Doggedly!!
Hope you had a good morning at church, Lauralind and Gma.
I'm home finally having some lunch. I'm going to take my evening supplements now bc I can't take them 2 hours before or after the doxy.
After lunch, I'm going to type up and print out the chapter for CG2 today. I'm doing it for dh because he is late to a meeting bc we stopped by the pharmacy after church to pick up my Rx. He agreed to that -- but never told me he had a meeting at 1. . .
THAT would have been nice to know.
Next:
- copy and print out chapter for CG2
- back exercises
- make the bed
- start a load of towels
Later:
- walk
- towels w d f pa
- payroll: finish tweaking AIR exam draft
- run dw
- unload dw later
- do I need to get anything from WF? --No, M is getting something.
- 3:15 otd to CG2
- 3:30 - 6-ish CG2
- 6 - ? host Sunday dinner for up to 8 people - and 2 puppies
- take new antibiotic with food
- after dinner clean up
- update health apps
- duolingo
- lists for the new week
- knitting progress
- payroll: grade final exams
- payroll: gradelink week 3
TaDas!
- up; weighed self
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website
- morning antibiotic (still amoxicillin -- will get the new one today)
- s2s and self care
- kitchen tidied
- church + coffee hour
- pharmacy: picked up my Rx
- lunch

Benadryl lotion is working…. Sort of…. Helian.
Lyme disease can be really debilitating so it is great that you caught it early, helian and antibiotic issues are a small price to pay.
