Gma, so tickled (is that a regional expression...?) to see you did find the Heathy Habits forum. But sorry you didn't realize it was there for a while. It's a puzzlement sometimes, why some forums turn out so busy (like HH) and some that once we would have thought were going to always be busy (like PDA and Computer) lose traffic completely, so that perhaps the list is longer and sort of "hiding" others. Some are seasonal, of course, like Household Notebooks and Planners, which will likely fill up soon as newly published '26 planners start beckoning for the new year.

FrenchFlybebe, scissors and glue always remind me of the let's-get-it-done moments/method I'd often have to take for creating newsletter or even bulletins when I was a church secretary. The world was saying, "use the word processor" or "the computer will do it" back then, but "I. T." wasn't even a thing, and neither was "user friendly". it could take sooooo loooong when I was on deadline. But I could grab scissors and glue stick (maybe magic-tape) and have a page mocked-up for the photocopier in no time, line drawings included. All this while whichever amateur (but sweet) helpers were scratching their heads over technology (and sitting at my desk to do it, lol) - still trying to figure out why pages of text weren't lining up with the folds or edges! Many times, it was scissors and glue that got me home in time to meet the school bus, knowing the stacks I'd left behind were done old-school-art but still looked just right.

FFB, so glad to hear that DS9 has a nice teacher this year. I thought of him a lot last year. Great that the teacher retired! I hope all works out for dh and a nearby internship. I used to scheduled kids music lessons at times that overlapped with each other so I could just get it all the driving done in one outing.

My girls always had craft projects going on and scissors and glue were mainstays. In fact, scissors would always disappear in this house, and I would keep buying them. I got so frustrated that I started labeling scissors by writing "MOM" on them with permanent marker. With the girls moved out, they've all resurfaced, and there are about 10 pairs of paper scissors in our house now. I suppose I could declutter them.

Things with my brother and niece are going OK. He's loud and a bit inappropriate, but nothing super awful yet. He did loudly complain about prices at the restaurant we went to last night - to us AND to the server. Even after we told him we were paying. Some items were high, but we didn't think they were outrageous. Then, he really liked his cornbread muffin and stopped the server to ask him if a white boy had made it. Ugh. Dbro is half African American, and the server was African American, and he was trying to bond with him I think. Just a taste of what he's like. More today.

Dbro and dniece just got home from breakfast out. The plan is to go visit my mom around 10 a.m.-ish. I need to get a WF run in beforehand so I can get the crock pot started by noon. Dbro and dniece also want to go to the apple orchard. Perhaps this afternoon? Or right after seeing Mom? I'd also like to see if I can get in a jog and do some payroll. The girls are joining us for dinner.

Today's forecast is cloudy with a high of 64*F. Nice running weather!

It looks like we're hosting CG2 tomorrow. And there's a family meeting on zoom at 1:30 (dh's family) to discuss dates for a family huttentocht - a hut tour in the Alps next summer. We're having trouble settling on a date that works for everyone interested. SO tomorrow is completely scheduled (10-12-ish church, 1:30 -2:30 family meeting, 3:30 - 6-ish host CG2, 6 - ? dd27's bday dinner -- I think we're not hosting and I don't think we can), and I'll be pretty fried by the end of the weekend. Thank goodness I don't have payroll on Monday.

helia, last year, when I cleaned out kids' rooms over summer, I discovered a total of SEVENTEEN triangle rulers (I tried to google them, but apparently this thing, which is the staple of school geometry, a triangle with a central line that allows easy drawing of perpendicular lines - like https://sevt.cz/centropen-trojuhelnik-s-ryskou - is not common in USA?) Put them in a box, didn't buy any this year in the back to school sales, because, I mean, come on, not even my kids can break/lose 17 rulers in a year, only to discover we were down to TWO when kids started assembling their school supplies earlier this week!

Yes, Harriet, we are the generation that used our knowledge to check what the computer did, rather than using the computer to check our work (or do it for us). And I remember my mother using that weird tray of jelly to print things for Brownies (pre-photocopier.)


LOL at the vanishing scissors, helia. My df used to have the same problem, to the point that I was going make a scissors holder that said "You have to be this high to use these scissors" (like an amusement park ride). But then my df started dating a man who was shorter than her, so I didn't dare in case it seemed like it was a dig at him.

That triangle ruler was in my geometry box, trissie, but I don't remember ever using it.

Morning all. I'm pretty sure I loved scissors and glue when I was little. Somewhere there is a cassette or something that recorded my little voice playing with paper. Daahh paper lol. Then there was my not 2 yr old dd hiding under the table snipped off a big chunk of her hair lol. Just before she was supposed to be in my aunt's wedding....

Anyway this is a busy place. First off I too am relieved for a good school year for your boys frenchie and that ds 7 doesn't have to anticipate that mean teacher.

I hope the rest of the time with your brother stays ok helian. And that he gets a pleasing visit with mom. For his sake.

I am not going to comment on everything cause First priority is a soak and if I don't get there soon I will not or it will get too late. My body is a bit overworked. I do wish there was a way to fix the work schedule a bit for long weekend weeks. Truck comes Tuesday. Bible study is about to start so I'm not giving up my Wednesday. Means all too often I get the rest of freight on my own. My wrists and elbows are paying the price but some of it has to do with Caspers jolt on my neck. I have another massage booked for Wednesday.

I need a non physical day off. I guess I dug potatoes Wednesday and did a bunch of raking with the landscaping.

Today's plan. Soak... get dh to put up the rails in the craft room. Probably go see the motorhome at dad's. Not sure what else. Soak and basic routines first. Some music prep. Music was half chosen last week for tomorrow but I will wait for her final list. And then see what else.
