I had something nice happened to me while we were getting our coffee at the shop.
An older gentleman came up to me and said… Do you watch the Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone to which I answered yes. He said you look just like his girlfriend on the show who happens to be Dana Delaney.
To say, I was flattered as an understatement, especially since I had been to exercise class and been sweating for a while. I had this happen to me one other time when someone came up to me and told me I look like Michelle Pfeiffer that was in my younger years.
It sure was a confidence booster to the 75-year-old woman this morning. When I went out to my car, the gentleman was still standing there and said to me… I hope I didn’t offend you, but I just couldn’t leave without saying something to you.
Made my day to say the least!!!

RRose isn't it nice to hear a compliment!
Speaking of which... I thanked everyone that had anything to do with my care at the hospital last Friday. Sadly one nurse said that she rarely gets thanked. Same with the 3 people in the CT scan area. All 3 of them said thank you for thanking us. Same again with the nurse that looked after me during the overnight shift. When I left at around 1:30, I thanked her for helping me and she smiled from ear to ear. I think health care workers are heroes.
Later...
I have managed to clean 2 litter boxes and empty the bathroom and kitchen garbage. It's all outside in the bins.

The decluttering effort is complete for the day! With a 50-gallon sack filled, that project is officially DONE. ****celebrating the small moments of success*****
I can see real progress happening. It was easier today than yesterday because I'm not arguing or second-guessing myself as much. I've set up a "maybe keep" area outside the room. Once I finish sorting through the stuff in the hot tub room, I'll decide what to do with the "maybe keep" items.

what a lovely compliment d rose
I will stop by again - still in the pantry - what a waste - I have to change my thinking re: having extras - I did that during covid and I don't cook enough to keep so many things. dh will take things to the food pantry as they are good for another year.
I also have to tell dd's to only order what they will use for a recipe - I can't tell you how many Japanese flavorings etc. asian, oils/vinegars and snacks that I had to toss.
When there is too much - I never know what I really have or need.
my overplanning or buying is out of fear
I had 10 orzo packages - keeping two and giving the rest away
last year when dd younger was in town she was making sourdough bread etc. all the time - I bought 5 of the flours , some bread flour, whole wheat, pasta flour, pizza dough flour, rye flour - all had to be tossed out. I had them sealed but they were past the throw away date.
I can look at it as a failure but I am looking at it as a learning opportunity. now I realize my hoarding of items is fear based.
I realized that I used to can before, froze things and always had multiple of bought canned items.
Now that I am older; I am not entertaining, I haven't been socializing for a while, dh does not eat meals - (he loves the same thing everyday - processed foods.) I am, at the moment, keeping things simple, I am not cooking through cookbooks or recipes. d mom will not eat most meals I make as her pallet has become very simple, dd's fend for themselves. If I cook - they rarely eat or figured it out for themselves even though they love it. dd younger makes meals for four days (for herself).
rules for family: shop for what you are cooking (not extra), keep basics and buy when you need to, buy one or two cracker/snack boxes and if you open it (put it is a sealed container). re: all the spices and exotic items - only what you use. don't buy on a whim unless you have a plan.

Cathy and Nancy, I was sorry to hear you both had difficult nights.
I had an oddity happen in the night in that I came up with a way to combine two of the used items I purchased yesterday to make a new garment. Hope I remember all the smart thoughts I had, lol.
Kittykatt, thank you for the input that HRH could just consider smaller-section ice trays, but he had already gone ahead and purchased the machine to make ice. The difference is that just making individual pieces smaller doesn't change their consistency. Still very hard ice and not the softer, (chewable, if you will) nicer "pebbled" ice that is what is served at drive-throughs, restaurants, etc., or for snow-cones that he used to make for the grands using an old-fashioned ice chipper/grinder before we moved.
It came this morning, and he has already put it to use. It doesn't make much noise and rather quickly makes the ice. He had it with his iced tea today and is pleased, I think. Yes, some counter space is taken up but not so bad.
I just hung up a drip-dry load of laundry.
We're beginning to wonder if we should call the electrician and let him know we'll be away Friday. He was so sure we'd be first on his list when he got back from his trip, but we haven't heard anything, and he should be back by now. If he waits until Friday to either come or make a plan, he'll be surprised.
