Running through.

Just heard that baby I is now in the NICU with some trouble breathing and unstable blood sugar levels. Sounds like the hospital has it under control, but F is understandably very upset. Ds is the calm stable sort, but he is probably stressed too. I is maybe technically considered a preemie? She was born at 36 weeks.

We're getting ready asap to go back to the hospital.

Thinking of you and all family, helia!
Yes, baby I is a preemie, though late preterm - but what she missed on was the final weeks where babies "stockpile" fat and iron and other things from their mom's body. The twins were moderately preterm and they both required some initial intensive care (and we did supplement iron and some other vitamins till six months, I think), but it was really just days before they got the message that it was up to them now :-)
It's hard on the mother, though, if she didn't expect this. I knew we were up for a bumpy ride with the twins, so it didn't really bother me, but when they took away DBD to NICU unexpectedly, I didn't react well at all. And I really, really didn't want anybody around other than my husband and I really didn't want to talk to anybody about it (as I was hardly holding it together and having to repeat it would push me over the edge). So maybe do ask DS what F would prefer, those hormones right after birth do mess people up in weird ways.

Awwv. It's tough. Dgs j was exactly 37 weeks just full term. Thankful he was fine but even then there was a chance of nicu. I'm sure she will be just fine. She's in the safest place right now but it certainly is scary. I do remember the worry of ddil in her finally days of pregnancy. And right after.

I'm being really lazy right now. Had my soak. Ds is still in bed. Maybe I should get my crochet out. I think I may have done 20 or 30 chain stitch of the 200 some I need. It might take a few tries to get the pattern to start but afterwards it's just a simple chevron with variegated yarn. Unless I decide to use some black.

My kitchen is a bit disastrous. The rest honestly needs to be just simple straighten and then a quick whb and it's pretty good. Hmm do I crochet first or just get up and do something.

Ok I'll take your advice trissie.

Crochet for a bit
Finish s&s both baths
Put away laundry
Tidy Master bedroom and laundry room some

My oldest granddaughter ended up in the NICU the day after her emergency c section, helian. The baby turned blue and was whisked away. DD41 was told it was common with C-section babies since they hadn’t had some kind of fluid pushed out during birth. The baby was fine after 24 hours but my daughter was a mess while she was in the NICU. Just fyi it wasn’t an issue with her other two csections. Hoping all is well soon.

I can have some very helpful advice, lauralind! What are you crocheting? that's a skill I never mastered.
L.Ann, I guess that with the prices hospitals in the USA charge, the trend would very much be towards shortening of the hospital stays. I tried to google it and the USA average hospital stay is much shorter than Europe.

TaDas
- make a batch of grape syrup
- 30 on ironing / mending
- afternoon routine
- load of darks sorted and running
- honey garlic chicken in slow cooker

ToDos
- another batch of grape syrup
- put away laundry
- 15 on general pick up

It's exciting times in the Doggedly household. I found a recipe for making brownies in the breadmaker. Well, you start them in the breadmaker and finish them in the oven. Most of the ingredients are the ones that I use for bread, so I already have them. I'm willing to forgo the vanilla extract this one time. I wasn't sure if I had baking soda, but found it in the pantry. The hard one to find was the cocoa powder. I was sure that I had some because I remember using it for microwave mug cakes. But it eluded me. I searched three times over the course of the morning, and just found it. The last mystery: is the 8" square glass cake pan with the visible flaw that my db bought in the 1970s in the discount store in the apartment or buried in boxes in the locker? Found that too with the baking pans. There shall be brownies.

Back to CUOP when there is progress. And possibly brownies.

Yum. Brownies. I've never heard of them in a breadmaker before but easy I'm sure.

Trissie it's another blanket. Just cause. I was going to make it for the bed in what is going to be the craft room but we'll see maybe it will make a couch blanket for ds and ddil.

Chain is done now to get the first row done and find out if my count is accurate. The one thing I did learn. I think my tension is finally right on the last one but the chain has to be lose. I've done it too tight before and it sinches the end tight. Counting the first row till the pattern is correct is the hardest. Some of the other stuff I've made I've done way too loose and it stretched and sagged out.

Hi, Peaches

Hi, Lauralind. Tension is something I have never mastered, and my lazy response is to stick to small items like flowers and pot holders, LOL.

Oh, no--I'm starting to get the connection errors again. I hope that persistence will allow me to post.
