Hello, all!

Haven’t done much today but for some dishes — and spending some time reading the book club book for this month (“The House of Silk” a Sherlock Holmes mystery — apparently authorized). Book club meets in a week; my electronic copy will return itself in four days. Someone is waiting for it, so I won’t be able to renew it. Good thing about ebooks - no need to find time to go to the library; bad thing - you can’t keep them past their due date.

DC ended up going to the hockey game with DH last night. The decision was made for us by it turning out to be a 6 pm start. DD gets off work at 6, and someone (me) with a license needed to pick her up, or she’d have to walk home in the dark. The game, sadly, was a loss — the other team’s goalie was goalie of the year last year, and apparently he earned it — he let in one goal out of 45 shots.

Fate has decided DH’s birthday present: He left his dress shoes at school, since he wore boots on the retreat. Well, he’s said something earlier about his dress shoes getting worn, so we’ll head out to get him a new pair. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so it doesn’t matter how late we get there. Oh! There’s still the matter of a cake or pie! I’m not sure what he wants; I’ll have to ask as soon as he gets home. The day after getting back from a fairly physical retreat, he’s out raking yards with the Scouts. Apparently having a birthday has not reminded him he’s getting older. His body might, though. I think tomorrow he might collapse as soon as we get home from church.

Good luck with the catapult to LadyM’s DD. How nice to have an artillery expert on hand!

blessed, it seems like the needed amount of help for your mom must vary a good bit — she’s been doing well of late, but it sounds like a turn for the worse is inevitable. Will the agency provide someone else then?

We have a daybed as well, Twins, and when we need to make it up, it’s most often with the sheets from when the kids were small. DD will have a friend staying with us for her birthday (coming in from out of town to celebrate), and she said we’ll have to make sure to use the Strawberry Shortcake sheets then.

Oh, Harriet! Low-fiber for a whole week? The doctor DH and I had just had us go on a clear diet a day and a half before, and that was annoying enough. (It did make the prep a bit easier, though, I think.)

I think the whole-house vacuum has earned you a rest, Cathy!

I wonder what Nancy is up to today? She’s usually here by now. There she is! So glad your mood has improved!

Well, now that I’ve written a novel, I should get back to reading one! Have a great day, everybody!
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

dish washer emptied from last night :D
dishwasher filled with dishes from around the house and turned on :D
turned dryer on for the 4th time - I didn't take them out yesterday, or the day before yesterday and the cloths wrinkled again 8-)
had a good talk with dd older. :D
mom is tired already and is back in bed (exhausted)

found out dr. Henry Louis gates, rev. dr. zina jacque and tom wicklam will be talking at our local area: Barrington White House. I am going to try to get tickets for dd's (me?) but I am sure that they will sell out fast. it should be an interesting discussion. it's expensive but might be a good christmas present https://www.barringtonswhitehouse.com
dh is taking the recycling out.

hello d mystery hello
enjoy your book club! sounds interesting.
sorry your hockey team lost - the other teams goalie sounds very talented.
Happy birthday to your dear husband!!!
re: agency - it's a lack of them talking to us and their staff. dd older contacted them this morning about it and they said that they sent a notice for the month (yesterday they mailed it out). I know it's hard to staff companies (as we are not the only ones that have run into situations like this). The helper that comes during the week told them that she only ones to work every other Saturday - they told her she had to work every Saturday - it isn't fair to the helper. Hopefully after dd spoke to them that they will be more on top of things. They need to talk to their staff and to us instead of just deciding for everyone without acknowledgment from us/staff.
your dd is having a birthday also how exciting!
have a great day

hi d lady
I agree that these assignments are huge - it should be done at school with help from wood working adults. - it's to show how it works - seems silly when they insist families do these type of things.
yay on a lovely Saturday morning
lovely balance! savor it! wonderful!
so happy your dh is feeling back to normal.
how nice to catch up with friends!

hi d Nancy
yay on catapulting the spring summer clothing in the basement
yay on calendar stuff
how fun about the books
yay on doing dishes before posting

hi d cathy well done on vacuuming - I am sure your kitty will be happy to come back in after having a lovely vacuumed floor.

hi d harriet! I saw the whoosh of you being catapulted into your day! yay!!!
the pens sound lovely - I will look into them.
I am sorry you have to go through the low fiber diet before colonoscopy.
rice paper is also not my favorite - nothing to it!

hi d twins have fun this weekend!!!

hello d everyone.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

We had to rush over to ddolder's house. The freezer (bottom) door of the refrigerator could not close because something had fallen behind and was blocking it. WonderBoy and ddolder were several counties away at a university event. Her two youngest couldn't figure out what to do so she had them take everything out of the freezer and she called us.

HRH laid down in the floor with a wire clothes hanger and the youngest dgsJ (so skinny, thank goodness) worked from the other side. It took so long, but finally J pushed a frozen pizza box over toward his Grandpa and HRH was able to get the clothes hangar hooked into a corner of its box and pull. A lot of ooomph finally got it out of there. The door would finally slide back normally. We got all the frozen things back inside and their mother can make decisions further when she gets home.

Dd had found a YT tutorial that she thought might help, but that turned out to be a waste because when you got into it, you realized it must be a completely different model.

What a strange day.

Harriet I luv the freezer adventures!
I've been on a jaunt in the smaller rig, found a flea market type sale.
Scored a special cup for my a.m. juice in red sort of looks like carnival ware only a diff. color.
Bought a book to re-script my future sounds intriguing.
Left two books to de-clutter at the book swap shelf did not see any that interested me still a win to get those two
out of here.
Scored a non electric coffee pot blue enamel for my prepper collection!
Spent under $10.00 for the win!

Got a 14.21 lb. squash at the store and some snacks for kids for grands or church & more eggs.
Plus a brownie mix. Might go to Dgd or to the food bank collection day in a few weeks.

Back from our walk and I'm happy to report I'm 3/4 of the way done with my daily steps goals.

[I did not watch a whole TV show yesterday.]
I think I need to make out a menu list.

I've spent some time in the kitchen
** Bourbon chicken & rice
** Cabbage cooked both red & green so pretty.
** Egg omelets
** Pepperoni pizza with cheese stuffed crust is in progress. I tried something different with the pizza this time and am curious to see how it turns out.

I don't know if I would say I "catapulted" into the day, but on second thought, maybe I did.
Up at 9:00 -- I know, but that is early for me -- and got Dgrands ready to go to the birthday party. It took the better part of 30 minutes just to get the tangles out of dgd's hair!!! It's very silky, straight, and about shoulder-blade length. It's not super thick, but oh my goodness, it gets tangled sooo badly. Last night, we washed it while she took her bath and I even put conditioner on it, then sprayed it with the detangler spray and let her sleep on it wet. It seems she has usually had better luck getting it combed out after it dries... but boy... it was a mess this morning.
Anyway, we then went to McD's for breakfast, and rode around a little bit -- went to the cemetery -- just killed time till it was time to drop them off at our pastor's house.
After that, I rode around awhile... wanted to see the fall foliage, because that was something dh always wanted to do during this time of year, but I couldn't get far into the forest. Just saw on FB that there was a wreck on that highway and electric company was up there replacing a pole. I rode around where we had our first "date," and just reminisced for a bit.

Back home, I am proud to say I made the bed and straightened up the kitchen -- a lot of PUPA.
Then, I am not proud to say, I got lost in the internet... watching Steve Harvey videos and different things.
I need to do a little more before I settle in to watch the game. (AU/Vanderbilt). DGrands will be back in an hour or so and I'll take dgd home. DGS will stay with me.
helper told the office that we didn't need help but we can do it. I wished that they would have asked us.
Wow, blessed! Looks like they would have checked with y'all. What's to keep lazy helpers from calling in all the time? SMH... (but I do understand that it is somewhat more relaxing to have only family in the house.)
I told DGD we would put up my tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. She will be spending Thurs.-Sunday with me, I think, so we'll try to do that while she's here. (DS, DDIL, and DGS are going to the AU/Alabama game and it will probably be a night game. They decided they want to leave Thursday after we eat, so they can have Friday to do stuff in College Town.)
Oh -- ddil loves matching pj's for herself and the dgrands. DS is like your dh and balks on her.

I am so glad dsil and DD are helping dd14 with the catapult, LadyM -- and sooo glad to hear LordM is doing "normal" things!
Her other friends don’t have anyone, so they’ll end up having to write the 400 definitions instead.
That is just sad. I tried not to do things like this -- of course, English doesn't lend itself to a lot of projects like this. I did have them interview a parent/grandparent/etc one time. I think I made it clear that it could be anyone over a certain age.
Good thing about ebooks - no need to find time to go to the library; bad thing - you can’t keep them past their due date.
Amen to that!, Mystery I've started using my Kindle app a lot, but pretty much limit myself to the .99 books.
:D at Strawberry Shortcake sheets. The last time dh's cousins stayed with us (two men and the wife of one of them) we told them they could choose their own bedrooms, but the one that stayed in ds' old bedroom would get the dinosaur sheets.

Waving to ALL. Hope y'all have a great weekend!
Tomorrow is another day.

the helpers we have - have been good and they really. care about mom! they make sure that she is bathed, brushed teethed hair etc., making sure she has clean pull ups etc. and make sure she is fed and watered. The weekend girl is so social with mom and takes her on walks twice a day. - the only thing is not keeping mom active (one) - it's easy for her to let her be awake and watch tv - as we are home then we expect to keep mom busy. we have to be the ones to keep things going for fitness and brain activity during the week - I think she doesn't think about it so much and those things can fall through the cracks. (again she is lovely to mom and cheers her on and loves her during the day - she loves mom's feisty, do it herself energy that is back. . I will ask dd if we had to pay for today. if so then we will have to be credited.

d Lucy hope your d grands enjoy the birthday party. (my dd older had to braid her hair for bed so that it wasn't tangled)
hope you get to see the colors soon!
where did you go for your first date d Lucy? I would love to hear.
yay on straightening kitchen = pupa - and making bed - that's great!
how fun for them to go to the game and how fun for your d granddaughter and you to put up your tree.
so funny about the adults choosing the dinosaur sheets - so cute!
waving to you have a great weekend d Lucy

sounds delicious d lady!!!

hi d Nancy
hope you had fun at the flea market d Nancy!
yay on being 3/4 of the way done with your daily steps

d harriet - freezer adventures!
what a wonderful man to help the grands by laying on the floor trying to undo the freezer blockage.
yay on taking care of that for your family.
in a way it is an adventure! 8-)
it is always a joy to be here with you!
