Mocha brownies sounds great, Doggedly!
Games, cards, and puzzles sound like fun, Smile! We make our sweet potatoes half and half - half the pan with just butter and salt, half with brown sugar and marshmallows. Different people in our family prefer different types. :) I like them either way but not too too sweet.
Thanks for the covid info, L Ann. Glad your crew arrived safely.
Enjoy church and coffee with your friend, Kitty.

This is the first time I've ever tested positive for covid, so it's kinda momentous. I may have had it while in Israel -- without a cough? -- but we didn't test as we didn't think that was possible there at that time. I think I already feel better than I did yesterday.

Our plans are up in the air as it's not clear if the Cs are coming or not. I've offered to sequester myself in the bedroom. If they're not coming, we'll eat at a normal dinner time. If the Cs decide to eat with us, they need to leave by 4:30 pm to go to their next event, which means we'd need to eat at 3, which is an awkward time.

Today: It's a holiday so I'll be doing some cooking! I'll mask myself while cooking and wash my hands a lot. (Dh will do a lot - probably more than me.) I'd also like to work on the memorial thank yous and washing and bagging Mom's last load of clothes, maybe making the final decision on a few items - keep or give away. I may indulge myself and get out one of our magic puzzles to work on. :D I'd like to start a new knitting project; I might order a pattern online. And a walk would be good.

Looking ahead, next week is a bit busier than usual with some extras - bday lunch with my friend B, an extra payroll meeting for which I need to prep to talk for a short time, a Christmas gala Th night in the big city, and my payroll's holiday party Saturday night - which is always a lot of fun!

- make the bed

- coffee
- conversations with dh

β˜€οΈGood morning!
Happy Thanksgiving! πŸ¦ƒπŸ½

I ordered an advent guide yesterday so looking forward to that. Love seeing all of the wise women here with helpful advice.

I’ll take all the food, I love sweet potato anything. I never understood jello salads but I’m even coming around to those. :P

Running a little late, heading to the pow wow. Dd1 is driving down for it. It’s about 2 hours driving for her, it’s 4 hours to come home and she has class tomorrow so just coming for the pow wow and heading back. She may come home this weekend to visit. Gotta pack dd2 up as she is leaving from there to go back. She has work tomorrow. I have frozen meals for her to take back. Need to get those packed.

First up is heat up sausage cheese balls for breakfast, feed critters, and whatever else needs doing. Have a good day.

Hi, Peaches.

Bama, you have unlocked a new life goal for me: sausage cheese balls sound amazing! Let's drop the pretence that we are eating a sandwich or a pie, we are eating the filling, baby!

The brownies did come out very well, helia. Brownies are my strategy to access chocolate despite our out of control prices. Even if the cost of cocoa goes up, a container of cocoa takes me a lot farther than spending the same money on chocolate. For the mocha, I just added an equal amount of instant coffee crystals as cocoa powder. It gives a nice mocha flavour, and every so often a burst of bitter coffee that counterpoints the sweet. For my next batch, I have some old dates to finish up, and I am thinking of chopping them up and adding to the brownies.
It must be very difficult to plan a holiday dinner when you don't know how many or when. I'm glad that you are not trying to prepare it alone, especially when you are not well. I hope that the COVID passes quickly.

That is great that you can work both families in for Thanksgiving, Smile*Lee. I hope that all of the visits and travelling goes well.

Hi, Lauralind. Have a good day at work.

Have a good time with your dfamily, L.Ann. I hope that DD32 gets over her COVID soon.

Thank you, Kittykatt. How is the fruitcake coming?

I am up an so far there is no snow or rain. I can see quite a wind, but if I rush Germane across the wind tunnel parking lot tucked under my arm, I can walk her on the sidewalk behind the windbreak hedges. If the weather holds.
My main goal for today is to pick up my order that is waiting at Lee Valley Tools. While I'm driving in that direction, I can go to the butcher that sells local eggs if the weather is not too bad.

Oh, it's Thursday. I should buy some more dog food for Germane, as it is seniors day at that pet store.

Hello, everyone!

I'm glad all your family arrived safely, L.Ann.

Enjoy your breakfast Smilelee!

Laura, the lunch is next Thursday- so only a week away!

I'm glad you're starting to feel better, Helia. I hope everything works out for the timing of your meal.

Bama, what's jello salad? I have a vision of lettuce leaves embedded in jelly, but I don't think that can be correct!

Dogged, I'm making progress with the cake. The dried fruit is currently soaking in brandy (I'll leave it overnight), I've found the cake tin to bake it in, and lined it. Tomorrow I'm planning to weigh out the rest of the ingredients, mix everything together and bake it.

Hi, Peaches!

It's been a good day, a lovely service a.d cake with coffee today. DF PM was a real help getting the lunch money counted, bagged and into the safe, ready for the treasurer to deal with.

This afternoon I finally pruned that last rose, did some weeding and swept the patio. I've weighed out the dried fruit for the Christmas cake, and it's now soaking overnight. Hopefully I'll get the rest of the ingredients weighed and mixed tomorrow . Waitrose have delivered and the groceries are PA, and everyone has been fed.
