helia, yes, I was working from home today. Since most people are either off already or not in the mood for working, nobody was bothering me with new requests (well other than the colleague who is the cause of me having to work today at all - but that was agreed in advance and she is as desperate as I am and it's not her fault that things are being done last minute, and I have a favor to cash later :-) ) so I was making good progress on that front as well!

Well, that was a close call! I was taking the baking tray with the cheddar cookies to the garage (we don't use it for parking, because the van doesn't fit in there, and since I leave later and come earlier than DH, I end up blocking the entrance to the garage as I have to leave my car in the driveway), and saw DH parking! Told him I was taking stock of the freezer there before shopping tomorrow :-)

Hi, all! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We have lovely Christmas snow coming down, and I have the half pointsettia that I bought for myself and then broke, the Christmas arrangement that I bought as a housewarming gift and have to replace because the flowers are dropping petals. I'll keep that one and buy some other flower to bring with me. I had intended to be finished shopping by today, but need to pop across the street to replace the flowers. Other goals for today: wash hair and do laundry. We'll see how much of that I get done, LOL.

Thank you for starting us off, trissie. I was trying to think of what Christmas food starts with M and couldn't think of one, but you are playing 3D chess while I am playing checkers, LOL.

I'm glad that the preparations for Christingle are going well, Kittykatt. And I hope that your dneighbour finishes what he started on the fence before he boards the plane. If he doesn't at least get him to give you the paint can so that you know what to buy that will match.

Last working day of the year feels great, trissie! Sorry about the family drama. Especially at this time of year. WTG on all of the things you got done on the home front.

If the gingerbread men don't work out, helia, keep a toy dinosaur on hand to take responsibility for the wreckage. I saw a cute tableau online where the dinosaur had half of the gingerbread house's roof in its mouth. Your dkids are too old to blame it on Elf On The Shelf. ;)
I can picture how frustrating it must be to be responsible for hosting when you are not included in the decisions.

Hi, L.Ann. I hope that things go well at the doctor's appointment for DD32.

Hi, Peaches

☀️Good afternoon!
Just wanted to peek in and cuops, looks like everyone is busy, busy.
Party was awesome. Dd1 was here a couple of days, she left today. Dd2 got here yesterday and is staying awhile. Today is dh’s bd. I fixed breakfast, we sent dd1 on her way, chilling a minute before we go to the casino to eat and play. It’s what he wanted for his birthday so who am I to say no. I enjoy both.
Sending good vibes to you all as we are in the midst of the holiday season. 🎄🌟✌️
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥

Hello everyone!

Trissie, that's so sweet that DBD wanted to make cookie for her Dad :D

Helia, I would be upset (in fact I *have* been upset ) when people come to stay without checking with me first.

L.Ann, I can imagine that Little Bit is the perfect age for Christmas!😀

I'm glad the party went well, Bama,. Happy birthday to your DH!

Dogged, I think it's difficult to keep flower arrangements alive this time of year -indoors is often too hot and outdoors is definitely too cold!

Upstairs is now clean and tidy. I'm not sure whether S has done any more to the fence or not - it's getting to the point where it all looks ok to me! I've chopped and prepped the red cabbage for Christmas Eve - it should be fine in a cool place with all the vinegar and spices. And Ive chopped more veg for Christmas Eve - that should also be fine in the fridge. The ham is out of the freezer and thawing in the (cold) oven. It's in there, as Freddie and Matilda discovered it in less than a minute after it was first sitting on the worktop!

I received several wonderful Christmas cards today. Thank you to those who sent them :D
Cooked rice pudding which will be delivered to dfBG. His daughter is coming from out of state tonight. it's their favorite. Went to a thrift store to get a Christmas bowl to put it in. All Christmas was on sale and i paid all of 80 cents (for the Europeans, that is less than a dollar.) I also am in the process of baking dfBG late wife's sugar cookies to bring to them as well. Plus 4 loaves of cardamon braid, which are going to other df's as Christmas gifts.
IO did manage to have milk boil over, so had to take apart the stove and clean it up in the middle of everything.
Braids #3 & 4 are in the oven. When they come out, I will turn up the heat and bake the cookies.
I sure am making a great mess in the kitchen! It feels good to sit down for a few minutes while the bread bakes.
