I want to say we have jasmine on our property - but I'm not sure it grows this far north. We have something with similar looking flowers with a really wonderful smell in the spring.

kitkat, I hope you got your coffee maker descaled so you could get some coffee this morning.
Hope time with your mom and dad goes well. Also hope you get some rest time today, Lauralind. Is your sister going to join your get together?
Thank you Bama! I'm taking a coffee!
Enjoy reading time, L Ann.
I hope your day at payroll is going well, FFB.
That's a great habit to hold on to, Kitty! I hope you had a pleasant walk.
Is the Rideau Canal opened for skating, Doggedly?

Christmas Tree disposal: One of our local high school men's lacrosse (I think) teams raises money each year by picking up trees and disposing of them for you. (Our city collects them and chips them into mulch used in the parks.) We've already paid and have that date set up for Sunday, Jan. 4.

I'm drinking coffee and watching the sun rise over the little lake where our bnb is situated. There seems to be fog on it each morning. Yesterday, the sun eventually burned it off. It was a very pretty sight! I'm not sure there will be much sun today so we shall see.

Yesterday, dh and I planned, shopped for, and cooked dinner for 9 adults. No, it hasn't let up - we're continuing to cook for the masses. LOL! I shouldn't count -- but I am. That was the 7th time in 1.5 weeks we've cooked for 7-10 people, with some help from dd30 and dd27 on a couple meals. There were a couple smaller meals for 5 people as well. Anyhow, our friends the Ss came to visit with their daughter A last night, and it was lovely to see them all. This happened at ds+F's home. Of course, I also got to hold little I some more. ❀️ But by the end of the evening, I was pretty tired and socially drained. Goodness - I will need some days to be a hermit to recover. SO glad I have the next session off payroll.

AND. . . yesterday, there was a little drama at our home in Michigan amongst those who are staying there. RH and KE have continued to use M's bathroom, even though we moved them upstairs and told them to use that bathroom, which is much newer and much nicer in the opinions of everyone in our family. I even cleaned the nice bidet so they could use that if they wanted. Apparently, RH was even using M's toothpaste which irked her more than their using her bathroom. :? She and dd30 were furiously texting about all this in the morning. (Dd30 and M work for the same org; dd30 is M's supervisor for one of her roles.) The outcome was that dh sent RH a text asking him and KE to use only the upstairs bathroom, explaining that M is renting the room and the bathroom from us. *sheesh* We've all concluded that RH is a little immature and coddled.

I've discovered that I ordered the wrong size knitting needles for my next knitting project. I may look into a craft store here so I can buy the correct size.

Dh is on a sibling reunion zoom call with all his sisters right now. I love hearing the Dutch chatter next to me. :D

Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- dress to jog? (Or jog later?)

Later:
- make the bed
- pack up everything to spend the day at ds+F's home: lunch, gifts, entertainment stuff
- buy knitting needles?
- go to ds+F's home
- jog/ long walk
- lunch at some point
- deskwork: email EP, email ML, work on making med appointments
- help ds+F - Dh and the girls will do some handyman type projects; maybe I can clean?
- open gifts with them at some point
- dinner: dd30 will go get Filipino chicken + sides (this is a GF restaurant)
- duolingo
- read?
- other things?

TaDas!
- up; coffee while watching the day lighten up around the foggy lake
- checked bank account; property taxes haven't hit yet

Hello everyone!

FFB, how nice that you get to appreciate your neighbour's plant too!

L.Ann, does DD32 have a new year's Eve event this evening?

KitKat, I hope you can get your coffee maker descaled!

Enjoy your coffee and got chocolate, Bama!

Laura, you're going to have a lovely family time tomorrow!

Dogged, my Freddie can't have milk as it upsets his tummy (lactose intolerance?). But he is fine (and enjoys!) a little live Greek yogurt to lick off my finger. I use the plain Greek yogurt, with no sugar, sweetener in or flavouring.

Helia, I'm sorry about the drama going on at home, but it sounds as if your DH has sorted it out decisively, with thanks to your DD30. So glad your getting plenty of cuddles with little I.

Hi, Peaches!

My kitchen is now clean and I've been for a nice long walk in the sunshine. DH had a good time with his friends. Matilda and Jude have both been on my lap (separately! ). DH is now flicking through channels and I've been occupied filling in the "pothole notification" form on the council's website. At the start of the process it warned that the interactive process may not work very well or even at all(!!!??) and it did take several attempts  before I was successful. I think I'll read for a little before feeding the kitties.

I think that the canal is open now, helia. I read yesterday or the day before that it would be open Dec. 31st, and it's about -10 C. I'm happy for the organizers. They have had such a hard time of it, with the warmer winters.
That is a lot people to cook for! I used to help prepare meals on that scale in my last foster home, but I've only cooked for myself for so many decades that I wouldn't know where to start now.

Hi, Peaches

I was leaning toward Greek yoghurt, Kittykatt, though we are charged a shocking amount for it here, so that I can use it as sour cream and use up any part that Germane doesn't eat.

I am happy to say that I have won the battle of the Inner Brat and am all clean and sparkly, and it's only 2:00 pm. The day is alive with possibilities. :D

You got this, Bama.

Wednesday
Cleaned up after dog
Breakfast for Germane
Set up bathroom heater
Showered/washed hair
Quick scrub of tub

I woke up and went immediately to my first project of the day: scrubbing the wood floor under the couch. I had moved it away before I went to bed. Now the couch is vacuumed, including all the cushions top and underside, and put back in place.
Winter weather is intruding on my inside work as there is (was) remnant of last storm still on my driveway and sidewalk, but I went outside to remove it befoer the temp drops to 0 F later today.
I've got a small day book that I am recording my daily successes with my house, so I can remind myself of the progress. It wil lfeel so good to have a clean and tidy house!
Kittykatt, Jasmine is an annual here, and so fragrant, I love it. Did manage to grow a nice plant one summer.
Glad to hear that Eurpoe has received my Cristmas cards. I did mail them well before Christmas.
Helia, you have ahd a very bery full Christmas, it was fun to hear about your celebration. (I don't konw how to spell Sinter Klaass) And I hope you enjoy the baby! It will be quite a while before there is one in our family!
Laurlind, how is it going for you, with your parents, now that you are home again?
L.ann, I am putting things up because it is a celebration of clean and tidy! I believe that the Dala horses can stay up, to celebrate all my 8 Swedish greatgrandparents. (Ancestry . com says I am a pure-bred  a rarity these days. )
Peaches, good to see your list.
FFB, I hope the children got some new toys for Christmas to enjoy.
Taking a coffee or tea break with Doggedly, Bama, and kitkat then back at it. Maybe put The Nutcracker CD on for listening. Strauss waltzes offer energy too.

Gma, big WTG on getting the floor scrubbed before you had fully woken up. It's all that I can do to stagger to the kitchen and bathroom, LOL.
I think that it is astonishing that you are pure Swede thousands of miles from Sweden! I guess that there is a very high percentage of Swedish ex-pats in your area?

Wednesday
Cleaned up after dog
Breakfast for Germane
Set up bathroom heater
Showered/washed hair
Quick scrub of tub
Dug out the container of split pea/lentil soup mix. I want to make broth from the scraps in the freezer and then add the soup, but this package says that I can have soup in an hour if I just add water and cook it on the stove…
Put away the laundry drying on the line
Put on a pot of soup
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed slow cooker liner
Washed egg pot
Washed dishes
Put more in to soak
Dumped the broth from the dog’s vegetables into the soup as she has stopped drinking the broth
Cleaned glasses
Much stirring of soup
Washed small slow cooker liner and soaking dishes
Washed dog’s water bowls, filled them and dumped dishwater
