I was just looking at stories about that child, LadyM -- after you mentioned it, I mean. I couldn't tell from these stories -- did he run away from the parents or did they abandon him somewhere along the way? I couldn't figure out how he became "missing." So glad this story has a (somewhat) happy ending -- he is alive and will be placed in a safe home -- maybe with his biological father?
Well, it has been sunny today here but brrrr... in the low 40s and windy. (I know that probably sounds kinda "balmy" or something to some of you.
(However, this was a matter of opinion. DGD took off her sweater in the restaurant after church, and she was sitting there in a sleeveless sundress. SMH. After we ate she wanted to go home and change clothes, and came back outside in a sweatshirt and shorts, took off the sweatshirt and wore only the T-shirt and shorts while she and I walked to the road to take the garbage out. I told her people would call DHR on me for child neglect! She must just be very hot-natured.
She stayed with me while DS, ddil, and DGS went to the football banquet.
After they picked her up, I ignored her advice to NOT SLEEP and took a much needed nap. But it was probably too long again, and I'll have trouble sleeping tonight, just like last night. She told me to go to bed at 11:00 pm. I told her if I did that, I wouldn't be able to watch Daniel Boone.
There was lots of confusion re: church this morning. Schedule for new Bible study was apparently printed wrong and it will start NEXT week. However, we in my family did not know this until about 10 minutes before we were supposed to be there, when my SS teacher cancelled our regular class because he was sick. DDIL taught her class and I sat in on it with her to see how she generally handled the class. No one was there today but our two, and next week, DGS will go to the adult class with her. But she said the other two "regulars" should be back next week.
We had a visiting preacher today also, and were supposed to have Communion, but apparently that got re-scheduled also. Pastor expected to be back next week (after having thyroid surgery) but now she expects to miss another couple weeks. Lots of strain on her vocal chords from the surgery.
I'm watching That Thing You Do right now, on the Wonderful World of Disney. It's the Tom Hanks movie about the rise of a boy band in the 60s. It's pretty good. I remember wanting to see it when it was in the theater but for some reason we never made it.
Oh -- tomorrow I am supposed to have lunch with Dfriend. Remember last time I woke up about 10 minutes before we were supposed to eat? Good grief. I have already set my alarm for 90 minutes before ETA! I also have alarms set for bedtime routine and lights out. (I have been known to ignore these also, but I'm not planning to do that tonight!)
Cathy, you've done a lot! I washed dishes that were in the sink, and I did my allergy shots, but otherwise, I have been pretty lazy today.
LadyM, I am so sorry the bedroom re-set didn't happen. (((BIG HUGS))) for dd14.
OH -- supper! I had chicken and dressing, saved from Thanksgiving. It was very good. I have one more serving in the freezer, and one or two more servings of the Labor Day chicken stew. Comfort food on these cold nights.
I don't have my word yet, LadyM. I'm torn between JOY and SURRENDER. JOY, because I certainly need more of it, and I need to think about bringing joy to others. SURRENDER because I do need to surrender a lot of things to God -- anxieties and fears, memories, worries... just a lot of things.
I am also thinking I need to make paperwork a focus for the remainder of the month -- specifically, tax info. I know I did it on my own last year, but I'm still nervous about it. I mean -- I didn't file my own taxes

I'm just nervous about getting all the paperwork together for the accountant.
I have a CD coming due in October of this year, and dmom keeps telling me I should break it up, put some of it in a shorter term savings so it will be more accessible if I need it. But right now, I draw a good interest check from it every month, and I don't want to give that up. Of course, who knows what interest rates will be in October. Any thoughts, Twins?
Waving to ALL of you ladies! Hope your week starts out GREAT!
