The garage overhead door went kA-POW! when I pressed the button to raise it. I've put in a call to local OH door people to please come look at it.
The aerobic septic people are supposed to be showing up today also.
I have 3 hours before leaving to take DD14 to her physical therapy appointment. Hopefully they will both arrive before I need to leave.

DH is not having a good mental day. I need to be observant almost every minute because he isn't aware of normal doings.

TaDas here centered on getting ready with things finished here, ready for trip out.
Windy and cold - outside the windows there is lots of motion in trees and for ivy, too.

Ds called to say he's just been informed this a.m. of plummeting temps over the next few days being lower than expected.
He and dgsW will be here after work and school, considering putting a heat lamp into our well house.
I hope we are back home by then.

blessed, I put rolls and biscuits into a baggie and sometimes any larger just-baked bread, covered, into the microwave overnight for the least air circulating but avoiding cold of fridge. When I want a softer biscuit, I wrap with a moist paper towel to microwave and often it will seem just like the day before. (This is also the advice of some bread brands on their packaging.) Rice can be redeemed in a similar way, but lining a ceramic bowl with moist paper towel, putting in the rice, covering and microwaving.

Back from an errand got new tire pressure censers put on my
truck so glad for the perfecting timing no one was ahead of me.
They had them in stock too!
[Last time I had to wait for them to get some in.]
Did some laps in the building while I was there for some steps as I waited.

Also glad I had lunch before I left.
Chicken salad & soup.

I'd almost decided to take ddoggo with me but then
changed my mind and left pooch home that was a good choice.

We walked around the back yard and I did a pick up.
Got my a. m. steps in today as well.

I got the trash can rebooted with stuff in the utility trailer I had
set aside to go for next week. Some smaller pieces that would fit.
Yea! Left half a can for house stuff too.
Got a few things that did not fit me in the bag to go when I got to the donation center & will
have that to de-clutter as well.

I have been cooking for ahead - of the week - cabbage rolls are in the oven
baking potatoes bc I ended up having 2 russets
green beans ready to go in
extra rice for freezer
made meatballs to fry at another time - in freezer on a baking sheet - I will put them away later.

now to do dishes - I might make us some soup for the rest of the week.

I ended up having a nap that I felt was too short. Dh napped on the bed for a lot less time than I did. He will nap after he eats.

I ended up walking to the mailbox with numerous layers on. The only place on my body that was cold when I got back into the house was the small area where there wasn't anything covering my face.

We are going to eat a bit earlier than usual. We are both hungry. Tonight we are going to try a new-to-us frozen entree. Chicken Pad Thai. Because the package is so small (less than a pound) I will be making some plain boiled rice to have with it.

cabbage rolls are put in a container for tonight and for the freezer
green beans are done
rice is put away
time to clean the sink, the stove, etc. I will make soup another day
mom is changed into pjs - helper went home
now mom is cutting up some papers - good
time to reheat dinner - sweep floor and vacuum and rinse.

Hello to everyone!
I don't have a lot of ta-das for today -- have been out of the house a lot and busy with non-household tasks.

I had my teacher group meeting at 11:30. I called the library before I left to make sure that the GROUP (not me, individually) was noted on the memorial book I had bought a month or so ago for dh's memorial. The treasurer of the group brought it up at the meeting to tell everyone that I had paid for it myself. I told them it was nothing -- less than $20 for a paperback book, and I would just consider it my donation to others that have been bought and one that needs to be bought -- the vice-president's husband passed away within a few months after dh and she has not picked a book yet for him. They all agreed that my choice -- Auburn's Unclaimed National Championships -- was the perfect book to memorialize dh.

After the meeting, I went to the post office, then came home and the pest control lady came at 2:00. She and I had a nice visit while she Sh the house.

After she left, I called my daunt to make sure she was home, and I went to see her and stayed there over an hour. I had ordered her a sweatshirt like my own that she had liked so well. She had one like it that caused me to order mine, and twice I have heard her say she wished they had it in red. I decided I wanted another one, and when I ordered my second one, I looked and they did have a red one, so I just got it for her. They are from Wmart and cost about $16.99. I figured I could "splurge" on that much for her! She seemed really pleased with it. I enjoyed spending time with her.

I stopped and got supper before I came home and so here I am now, watching college basketball and wrapped up in my blanket.

I am a little bit worried about this weekend's storms -- they are really predicting a lot of "wintry mix" and warning of power outages that could last for DAYS.
I do not have any heat except electric, and I have never faced this prospect without dh. I am really considering going to Tr*ctor S*pply tomorrow and getting a propane heater... but I see that they advise cracking a window when using those indoors and they say do not fall asleep with them on... so... I'm scared of gas and carbon monoxide poisoning anyway. (I do have a CO2 monitor, but it still makes me nervous.) We have never needed one since we've lived in this house, but before we built this house, we did have an ice storm that lasted about a week. My dad brought us a propane heater and set it up for us, gave us instructions on how to use it, and dh was there with me then.
DS doesn't have anything but electric heat either. He has gas logs, but they have not been used in over 11 years! My dmom has gas logs, and I guess if it comes to it, we can try to get out there and stay at her house.
I have considered getting gas logs here in this house -- but again, I'm just really nervous about gas. I already have natural gas running to the house, powering my heat pump -- but the heat pump itself is electric and no gas actually comes into the house.

lucylee, of those alternatives, going to your dmother's house sounds helpful to consider. It's just you at yours - you don't have pets with you - so perhaps not such a lift to pick up and go to her. Also, she would then have you with her if she needed good decision making.

The trip was okay - not too much white-knuckling in the traffic, but some, sigh.
The appt was a little more stressful for me than I'd thought it would be. Thankfully all my vitals were good, to start us off well, but I haven't seen this dr in a year and he's not so sure my meds don't need to be tweaked. In the end, looking at alternatives and examining me, he didn't change anything but is holding out the option. Always something that makes you feel less certain, I guess. You think you feel well, but do you? lol.

HRH kept the dr laughing and the mood light. Dr kept agreeing that HRH was right about several things re: not being worried about me. ( a mixed blessing for the woman who has to live with the man afterward ).

DgsJ texted as we drove home, showing off a photo of a green sprout in the science experiment, also root system, so success for project.

Back home, we passed ds on the road as he went to pick up dgsW, so we knew he was on the way. We hurried to get the recyclables and trash gathered as he'd suggested and did get that done just before they walked in the door.

They didn't need a new lamp for the well house, just adjusted the one that is there and made sure it's working right.
Had a nice visit - unbelievably, our green-eyed boy dgsW has an event for incoming freshmen at high school this evening. Ugh.

Finally, I got my only substantial mean since breakfast, and realized it had been a long enough, hard enough day that I needed a nap! HRH didn't bother with one.
