Re: Ski Mountaineering Saturday @ TDD C&C
That area of France, Broceliand, sounds interesting, FFB. Someday I'd like to visit. Enjoy your day with the boys. It's nice to have a family movie evening to look forward to. I think dh's family went to the Alps on vacation every summer because his parents grew up doing the same - and maybe because the Netherlands is not the most interesting vacation spot if you live there.
Glad you're OK in the storm, Kitty. Enjoy your day at home.
Thank you for sharing Gma! Those are good thoughts on deep sadness, vulnerability, and loving one's neighbor.
trissie, I didn't know that the scout march was a protest action vs. Soviet occupation! How far will they go? They must be bundled up for the cold.
Doggedly, I heard snippets of Carney's speech and thought he was intelligent and right on the money (idiom).
Have fun reading during the practice, L Ann.
We have sunshine today - to go with our current temperature of -11F (-23.9C). Fortunately, there's no wind so no windchill temp. Our snow forecast for tomorrow has jumped up to 4.2 inches. Nothing like other parts of the country are expecting; we're almost too far north for this storm.
A few birds have been visiting our feeder; they're all puffed up and dh says he can see their breath. A female cardinal, a nuthatch, several house finches.
I'm up, weighed in, and have had my coffee. I think I'll go to the gym for a short jog this morning. I noticed the weekly free 5K has been cancelled.
Today: We have CG1 at 5:30ish. Other than that, my day is free. I'm not going to cook for the group as I cooked the main last time and bought rotisserie chickens for the main the time before that; I'll have dh pick up something to contribute this time.

I’m still trying to wake up so will be more chatty later.
Safe travels, Gma!
Stay warm, everyone. The cold won’t reach here until Monday and even then just slightly below freezing so no prep needed. We already have covers on outside faucets, covers for plants just need to be put on.
Trying to convince dh to go out and get breakfast. Bbl with my list.
Enjoy your day.
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥

Re: Ski Mountaineering Saturday @ TDD C&C
Good morning / good afternoon, Trissie, L Ann , Helia, KitKat and Bama!
Trissie, I never knew that the scout hike was originally a protest. I hope DS and DBD have a good time.
L.Ann, I hope you find somewhere warm during DD's practice!
Helia, I envy you the sunshine, but definitely.not the temperatures!
I think the wind part of the storm has passed, and it's now 9C / 48F and, as ever, raining.
I have to keep reminding myself to be grateful it's RAIN and not SNOW, or, even worse, ICE!
Enjoy time with DGD, KitKat!
I hope you can get the house to yourself, Bama.
DH has gone to a fundraiser organised by his DF A's GF, so I've had a quiet morning, and spent probably too much time looking at the fabric I've put in my online basket. My plan is to sew some tablecloths for the kitchen table, once the decluttering and deep cleaning is done. I'm also looking for some new tea towels. I've already tried the bricks and mortar stores, but their offerings are either very cheap and nasty and likely to fall apart after a couple of uses, or extremely superior quality with a price tag to match. There don't seem to be any mid range ones any more. So I've turned my search online, and put a few possibles in my eBay basket. And found a wooden storage box that will fit under the spare room bed.
Time to really get going with the kitchen!

Re: Ski Mountaineering Saturday @ TDD C&C
Safe travels Gma!
trissie, MrNG is staying indoors, but he gets to travel through a nice area. I did like the Canadian PM's speech too. Well said and well thought.
L.Ann you got me searching for firecracker sauce. Never had it, now I want to try it.
helia enjoy the sun before the snow !
kittykatt I feel the same as you regarding prices at fabric stores. Better choices online. I had a smiliar project of sewing tablecloths for us. The ones we have are old, discoloured and/or dirty beyond washing.
kitkat what books is it that you're reading ?
Bama I hope you're awake now. And fed
The kids had sports, I fed them - we had initially planned a picnic outdoors, but there was really no way, the rain was too heavy. We had sandwiches inside, and crisps, our usual menu for picnics. Then the haircut appt, for both. A trip to the library where DS10 wanted to see a show of animal photographs, and there was sun for maybe half an hour so that was fine. Now DS10 is playing with DNeighbour R--, 11yo, and they're noisy and all, but at least they ar enot sitting in front of screens, so I will endure it a bit longer.
TADAs
up, read news, tea
toast and cheese
quickly cleaned the pellet stove
wake up the kids : noise, then bigger noise.. or music ?
load pellets into pellet stove
everyone ready by 9.40
sports for all - at the same place, due to the heavy rains athletics are indoors too
trip to bakery, not the one I love, too rainy for that walk
all back home, ate "picnic"
haircuts for both kids
trip to library to see animal photographs
back home, homework with DS7, not finished
DNeighbour R-- joined the agitation and noise
both trash bags outside
a lol in
cooked some veggies and wholewheat pasta for lunchboxes
lol dripping on the patio
some cleaning in LR - not finished !
TODO
tea break
label and freeze lunch boxes
continue cleaning LR
