Gma, sorry about the flight delay. You have a great attitude. If they promised a hotel voucher, and one wasn't sent, I would have complained. I hope you're on the flight now.
FFB, that's a cool and interesting school project! Is it for science? Or for art?
Kitty, dh is a snowboarder! He took it up when the kids were small because he found it frustrating to ski with them at their beginning levels. However, he doesn't snowboard anymore because the falls can be hard, especially as one ages. Actually, he hasn't skied for a long time either. Hope you had a good morning at church.
WTG with walking, L Ann. I might try to go out and walk a bit. It certainly is pretty out there with the snow! I don't know how slippery it is.
It is snowing here, kitkat. Maybe it's moving west toward you?

Dh is out on a 9 mile run in the snow and 8*F temp (when he started). It is now 10*F.

Dh has a big deadline tomorrow, submitting 8 papers to a conference, so he's not going to church today. I probably won't either.

Today: No church but possibly CG2 this afternoon? We'll see how people feel about driving in the snow. L and B's apartment is in the city, so it's local. . . . Other things to do: get clean sheets on the bed, make serious headway on NY cards, make progress on payroll exam prep. We're hosting dinner tonight, unless the girls and the Cs want to stay home.

Wow. 29 guests on this website. I suppose some of them are bots.

A peek at the news -- honestly, I'm struggling a bit. That's all I'll say here.

Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- s2s and self care

Later:
- strip MBR bed
- load of sheets and towels w d f pa
- remake bed with clean sheets
- clean towels in upstairs bathrooms
- bring in wood for a fire

Good morning, all. (Showwing off that I can still say Good Morning, LOL.) I am vertical and have spent half an hour cleaning up after my innocent dog who did her best. Now I'm taking a break before I work my way into her pen.

FrenchFly, that movie sounds fun. I know that I enjoyed the first one.
I have actually been chowing down on those onions at a fair pace. Yesterday I moved more onions from the string bag to the onion bin, and today I was eyeballing the onion bag and asking myself if I put what's left in containers in the fridge. That might require a partial fridge dump, but the fridge needs that anyway.
For the rain in Brittany, I invite you to use British Columbia's answer the rest of Canada: At least I don't have to shovel it!

trissie, WTG on finding good winter boots at end of season, especially with the distraction of two teenaged girls with you, LOL.

(((Gma))) How unlucky for you to be flying through that big storm that is covering most of the Eastern Seaboard. I hope that they are able to get you to Florida soon.

Thanks, kitkat. Your forecast is worse than ours. Just about 4 inches for us. They are expecting heavy snow at times, so bad for driving when it gets going. A wonderful day to have nowhere to go.

I have gotten to the end of the first page. Time to clean up the area in front of Germane's pen and into her pen.

Sunday
Treat for dog
Cleaned up after dog
Put on a pot of coffee

The Utah crowd are all good skiers and the boys snow board as well. The twins who are 7 are both on a ski team and practice twice a week. They are complaining that they haven’t had hardly any snow. I walk inside helian. I have a super small house so it takes a lot of boring loops to do a mile.

Sorry trissie - I missed you! WTG on finding nice boots so quickly!!

Dh is home and I had a good chat with him. I'm feeling better. I'm going to s2s and get going with this snowy day. There's been light but steady traffic at our bird feeder. M found a glob of frozen turkey p**p by her car yesterday, so they've survived the coldest night (so far). I haven't seen them recently; they've moved on -- or maybe not entirely. LOL!

Dogged, the girls are old enough to stroll the mall on their own, while I run my own errands :-) Re too many onions, during my cooking course we made onion bhaji ( https://www.kitchensanctuary.com/onion-bhaji/ ) and while it certainly is not the healthiest thing to cook, it was SO good! And it uses loads of onions :-) But it's fried so maybe that's not an option for you, as I recall you have pretty sensitive digestive system.
helia, your DH is one dedicated runner!
L.Ann, I guess you will be only washing the inside of your windows, right? :-)

Today is a great day to walk inside the house, L.Ann. :)
I'm curious about washing windows in the winter. You must be doing inner panes only. There's no danger of their cracking due to temperature difference?

Southern Ontario is the northern edge of that big weather system in the States, helia. The system must be moving north (or spreading) as we're forecast for snow this afternoon. The weather app said that we had windchills of -30 C when I got up, but my weather trees were not flopping around so I'm not sure what to believe.
Does your DH breath through a scarf when he is running in those temperatures?

That's a point, helia. I feel sorry for the birds in this cold. If I had to come back as an animal in NA, I would choose one that stays in the subnivean level during the winter. Or better yet, one that gets to sleep through in a burrow in the ground away from the snow. Well under the wind chill, LOL.

Gma, sorry for your trip disturbances. I hope you get a meal voucher and a safe trip.

trissie how lucky that you could find replacement boots at the first store ! Did you buy anything for the girls?

kitkat thanks for the reading advice, it seems to corroborate what I have read online. Good luck entertaining Dpup indoors ! and good luck with the snow and cold too. Baking should be a good way to counter-attack a winter storm.

L.Ann thanks for your advice. I hear what you say but I need fiction at the end of a work day. Maybe non fiction for weekends :D

Doggedly that is true, we don't need shovels :D I hope the coffee is doing its work.

helia it started with a school visit to a local show of nature photographs, animals mostly. It's mostly about art, but also being curious and patient outdoors is a challenge for him. He spent some time "chasing" birds this afternoon. I think reading the news is upsetting many of us.

We've had lunch, then I cleaned up, then the sun shone, so we went to the table tennis spot near the local arts center. THen back for snacks, then MrNG went with DS7 to the concert we had free tickets for, DS10 wanted to stay and I needed some quiet time.
I managed to get a few things done that I wanted to get done.

TADAs
up, briefly read news, quick cuop
checked books about Ann Patchett, I will have to read one
tea and breakfast and coffee
quiet conversations at breakfast with MrNG and DS10
clean pellet stove, start it
peel veggies for lunch : carrot, parsnips, turnips
check how to cook the meat I bought for the meat-eaters
baked a dessert
ate, cleaned up
table tennis with the kids
afternoon snacks, rooibos and cake
scanned my slary slips for this past year and 2024
tried decluttering my closet, found a few things to declutter from bedroom

TODOs
time in Zone (master bedroom)
vacuum both boy's bedrooms
dinner
make list for next week
set a few things up for tomorrow
relax, read ? and sleep

trissie - I think there is always a risk... but have not heard anything near us. Parts of Montreal lost power yesterday.. Some are still waiting to have it restored.
Was that the equivalent of onion rings w chickpea flour?
FFly - any time! I love sharing good books:)
Dogged stay safe in this mess
LAnn my DH walks circles inside... Usually, around dinner time while I'm trying to prep food...
helia it's been coming down and blowing since 9 a.m...

I just let Dpup out and she loved the snow! Zoomies and zoomies and grabbing a ball, tossing it - happy dog.
I had to go out to pick up random things we forgot yesterday. Thankfully, others are smarter and they stayed off the roads
Let me just say, I'm not going out again today.
I did one round of shoveling in front.

OK.
I need to:
take laundry downstairs
start first load
pa doggie treats (b4 pup finds them)

put squash in oven
set up course for pup
play
