Oh no helia! Lyme disease is nasty! Hope you have it under control.
Beer crepes, trissie? Never done that. I've used sparkling water/club soda...

We have ticks everywhere now... My youngest DGD had one on her head when she was just a few months old! Thankfully, DD caught it on time.
The others had a few last summer, along with my DDIL...
We all carry a removal tool with us...

Back from gym...
I might need to heat that shoulder... later.
Now:
off to laundry
vacuum
outside to see what I can do with frozen hose

Bama, you were up early. I hope the weather gets warmer soon for you.

trissie when MrNG cooks crepes, he uses beer, and the crepes are light and fluffy. I would say it's safe to use regular beerfor crepes, all the alcohol evaporates while cooking.

kitkat I hope you find time to relax. Ticks are here too, but mostly in the summer. We don't go on family walks without a remover.

helia another "social" evening for you, I hope you can get some time for knitting !

I did get 30 minutes of book reading while MrNG played Mario Kart with the kids. He's now taking them outdoors to play table tennis at the nearby music school / theatre / cultural center. The house will be quiet until the rain starts or the night falls.
Not sure how to truly relax - sometimes getting some more cleaning done and things ready for the week, makes me feel more at peace at the end of the Sunday.

TADAs
slept late :D
all of us fed
lunch half ready for oven
veggies ready, two small cakes ready
enjoyed good food
MrNG and I cleaned up
a break with a book
spent time online for secondhand ski gear - need to spend more time and also check the kids closets before buying
finish morning routine stuff
prep an index card to monitor my daily routines for February

TODOs
some cooking ahead for payroll lunches
decide if grownups need ski gear and which, , cleaning, vacuuming,
dinner prep
showers and things ready,
bedtimes routine
weekly planning and list
download 2025 pictures from our phones onto a computer and hard drive
plan fun things ?

Hello everyone!

Trissie, all this talk of crêpes is making me hungry for them! But I think I'm going to have to wait until Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake Day!

Bama, so far we've been fortunate with our feline gang. Freddie was the most difficult to litter train as a kitten (the Girls all came ready trained and reliable). I'm not sure whether it's a boy thing or whether it's just Freddie!

How lovely to hear birdsong, Helia!

FFB, we have ticks too, most in summer. I have a couple of removers, and dont walk in long grass unless I'm well covered.

KitKat, I hope the shoulder feels better soon.

L.Ann, I'm glad you were still able to meet up with your friends despite the cold.

We had a lovely service to celebrate Candlemas, with a procession with everyone carrying their lit candles. Afterwards, DF E was in very good form. Today's lunch menu was a beef casserole, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, followed by profiteroles. I've put up my supplements for the week, weighed out the Girls' dried food and folded laundry and PA. Now I'm fulfilling my appointment with the sofa! It's raining again, so no outside jobs for me today.

kitkat, so is there a designated tick remover in your household or can everybody do it? :-)
Frenchie, non-alcoholic beer is what I have on hand (I think DH might have drunk the normal one? He might pop one open if working outside on hot days, but we're really not a beer household), so that's what I will use for cooking! I hear you on getting more peace from attacking the tasks that need doing, but don't you sometimes resent that there is no time left for your hobbies? I know I do :-(
you're an inspiration with all the walking AND keeping up with friends, L.Ann!
kittykatt, every day is a good day for pancakes! :-)

kitkat, I got the iconic bullseye rash and got the correct antibiotics asap - in September. As far as I'm concerned, I'm done with it. I didn't even know I had a tick. I suspect I got it on my trip to Maine; when the doc saw the bullseye and heard me mention a trip to Maine, he didn't ask any more questions or even request a blood test. He just prescribed the specific antibiotics.
trissie, how did the beer pancakes turn out? Never heard of that - but it makes sense as a rising agent. :)
You deserve a day off with no jobs, Kitty. Enjoy the sofa!
Nice you could have breakfast with a friend, L Ann.
How did you end up relaxing, FFB? Glad you got time to read.

Next:
- back exercises
- go for a walk
- gather things and join dh at a coffee shop

Later:
- make the bed
- walk
- NY cards progress
- payroll: edits to BR Exam Answer Key
- writing time
- new lists for the month and week
- 6 - ? host dinner for up to 8 people: M is making a beef stew, rice, bread, cheese
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update health apps
- read for fun

TaDas!
- up; weighed self - very very high after a disciplined day of eating and exercise. :?
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website
- reclaimed kitchen

Hello, all. I kind of faded away yesterday. I plan to give my db call this afternoon, so will probably vanish for a few hours again.

Thank you for another sporty start, Kittykatt.

trissie, I was not disappointed to not have a Canadian mentioned. In fact, when I saw Thursday's offering, I was quietly muttering "Thank goodness we missed Ryan Wedding Wednesday!" LOL.

Bama, I feel especially sorry for people and animals who are not accustomed to the cold when they get walloped with it. It's fine for me to complain about the cold from inside my apartment and my short walk down a shovelled and treated walkway to my car with its working heater and snow tires. I do understand that it's very different for people living in areas where they don't normally have to prepare for this.

kitkat, January did just stretch on and on, didn't it? No wonder you felt that February must have started already yesterday.

helia, have they eradicated the lyme disease from your body, or is this something that you will have to manage?

I'm at the end of Page 1. Time to spiff myself, bag up the garbage and call db.

Sunday
Put away dry laundry
Put away dry dishes/cutlery
PC acting up. Booted it.
Breakfast for Germane, which she ignored
Made breakfast
Shared some of the vegetables with Germane, which she graciously accepted

L.Ann a friend for breakfast is a good way to spend a cold Sunday morning. Thanks for sharing your menus for the week, it's inspiring as always :)

kittykatt do you make the profiteroles yourself ?

Hi Doggedly, have a good phone call with your DB !
trissie wrote:I hear you on getting more peace from attacking the tasks that need doing, but don't you sometimes resent that there is no time left for your hobbies? I know I do :-(
trissie so true ! That is my current issue, I want to make space for hobbies. One of the habits I'm tracking daily is "time for me". I read at bedtime, I read one or two hours on weekends, but that's not enough. I do exercise (another habit I'm tracking) but it's more a to-do than a hobby, even if it helps with how I feel mentally.
A goal for February during my tiny "time for me" slots, instead of reading, is to make lists of things I would like to do during those time slots :) . Tiny projects that would matter to me. I don't have any knitting or crocheting project. When I have some project underway I manage to make time for it, and other people dont interrupt me as much. But right now with payroll and home tasks and such, and MrNG not being able to do as much with the kids as he used to before starting his training, I don't make projects - as if I had lost interest in them (It's kind of worrying to me, I used to enjoy creative stuff).

Boys are in bed, reading, we will soon switch off the lights upstairs. I need to write my to-do list for the week. A few more tasks, then bed.

TADAs
slept late :D
all of us fed
lunch half ready for oven
veggies ready, two small cakes ready

finish morning routine stuff
prep an index card to monitor my daily routines for February
cleabing, vacuuming
dinner, MrNG cleaned up
showers, bedtime stories

TODOs
weekly planning and list
download 2025 pictures from our phones onto a computer and hard drive ?
plan fun things ?
read, and sleep
