Re: Housekeeping Olympics - Saturday February 7, 2026
Good morning! Here I am at my usual late morning.
Yesterday's errands did not go quite as well as hoped. By the time DD had finished her statement and had lunch, it was time for DC and I to go. That went well. We picked up bubble tea on the way home; we probably should have done that later, as even though I took DD to the library straight after, she was not able to get her documents faxed. The clerk tried multiple times but could not get through. I should have realized that plenty of folks would be wanting to get stuff in by the end of the day on Friday. The clerk did know, however, an email address to which scanned documents could be sent. So we went home and did that, but I wasn't able to get them all scanned by 5:00. The paperwork didn't specify 5 PM as a deadline, though, so we should be okay.
LadyM, I hope your DD feels better soon. Are you able to tag-team acetaminophen and ibuprofen? That's worked best for me in the past, although I can no longer do it myself, as I can no longer have NSAIDs.
I am mostly just watching today. Like the other day, curling (sorry about your bread, blessed!) followed by women's hockey. I need to get off my seat and do something -- maybe start some wash before lunch. We are scheduled for the livestream today, so that will break up the afternoon.
Have a great day, everyone!

Yes, that's what I've been offering her. Although she is reluctant to take any medication. I put the pill on the night stand next to her with her water bottle & thermometer and give encouragement to take the pill and/or watch her fever to make sure it doesn't skyrocket. I check in with her every couple of hours. It does seem like she might have turned a corner and is feeling a little better. Her fever is down to 99.8 with no meds. She ate some chicken noodle soup after not eating anything for 24 hours. 16 hours ago she couldn't keep water down so this is a huge positive improvement. Are you able to tag-team acetaminophen and ibuprofen?
I text DS17 and had him stop by grocery store and get more chicken noodle soup. I'm not sure that is the best thing to eat in this situation, but it seems to be working okay so far.

I did a long-distance ski run around town and picked up an inflatable e-collar (turns out wrong size), put gas in the car and washed it, and picked up meds at vet. They let me go back and see Ruby again and she's much better today. She wagged her tail and got up in the crate to see me and get some ear rubs. What a sweetie.
Back home, I've ordered e collars from another store for pick up, the one I bought is wrong size and that store, which is closer, didn't have the next size up. Gave her the Gabapentin that I just picked up. Perhaps with trazadone and gabapentin added in she'll relax and stop the grooming. The order for pick up at pet store won't be available for a bit, if it takes too long I'll just go looking for it.
Dh is almost comatose from lack of sleep with her at his feet restless all night.
We're all doing a lot of caretaking these days with husbands, and now for me, the ddog. It's a mental burden. My heart feels sick with worry.
And I can't finish any one thing. Dropped writing this when dMillie offered to walk with me, so we took a lap around the block. I need to start a chart of when she's getting medication so I don't over/under dose her. And need to do a.m. routine. I suspect dh is still planning for us to go tonight. He's watching the Olympics.

I napped before nine after getting up half past four it was needed.
Got the kit. dining & hall swept & mopped, that's my main task today.
Found cheese & cracker snacks so that will help.
I have some ideas for lunch today too.
Fog is a bit better rain was in our forecast but was a no show.
We have walked.
I did scrub on the tub more to do in the bathrooms but that
might have to wait.

Ddog is on the bed. Oops, since I wrote this she's gone out again. I'm second guessing myself right now about the e collar.

Re: Housekeeping Olympics - Saturday February 7, 2026
Hi!
We have been watching various Olympic events this morning/afternoon. Having a very unstructured day. with no appointments or visitors. Just dh and I having a pajama day. I FINALLY weaved in the ends on a blanket I "finished" in January of 2020. To be honest it wasn't all of the ends just one long piece and 5 or 6 little stubby bits. Now I am trying to fix a worn out slice of a hole in a king size flannelette sheet. I just don't want to make this sheet too much smaller. Dh piped up to tell me there is some trim on his favourite blanket that needs to be reattached to the corner of the blanket. Maybe at some point this weekend.

Re: Housekeeping Olympics - Saturday February 7, 2026
dd younger called us - oh my her face is so swollen - she has a genetic immune problem where she becomes suddenly allergic to any thing. She has no idea why - but it wasn't an epi pen moment. she says she feels fine but her face is large and in charge. she couldn't open her eyes yesterday morning.
when her lips swell then she has a problem. no swollen lips yay
cleaned out the fridge - yay - I have to do it once a week otherwise it becomes bad.
dh's need to finish his routine started to frustrate me - I had the sink filled with jars etc to empty and wash - his dishes brushes was underneath; hence he got frustrated after he ate his lunch. his need to have a routine is normally endearing but today his paths crossed with my want to finish the fridge that I was working on.
he saw boxes in front - and the groceries and it overwhelmed him. I ordered potting soil. our nursery should start getting seeds etc. soon.
