I don't really expect any medals today. Good gracious -- this day is "not going to my advantage" in the words of dgs (to his sister when she was in an especially difficult mood).
First, I lay in bed too long, woke up a little bit sad for no apparent reason, concerned about upcoming obgyn appt because I may need to be back on the estrogen -- because it does help prevent osteoporosis, it seems, and considering my dmom's back problems and maternal grandmother's broken hip, I may have a history in family of this...

finally got up, dressed, did my Bible reading...

and then went out to spray that foam around the remaining little gaps around the heat unit.
Worker (former student) had cautioned me not to get foam in the drain pipe.
First thing I did -- tried to stuff some plastic wrap in the drain pipe to make sure it remained clear.
Drain pipe fell off.
I cannot re-attach it.

Embarrassed.
Texted worker... sigh... he said he would come by this week and take care of it, not a problem when using heat.
(And btw, I have tried for a second time to pay cousin's husband who owns the business, and he has still not given me a price, just asked if they had everything to my satisfaction.)

Walked the driveway twice.

Considering exterior shingles. Cannot find any online that I like and/or can afford.

Now, need to go do school pickup.

What sport was your dgs training for, LadyM? I can't imagine the time and money it must take to reach the level of these Olympic athletes. I don't know anyone who has ever competed (or even trained) -- but Jesse Owens, from the 1936 Olympics is from North Alabama, so that's something. :D

Twins -- we were in the low 70s yesterday! Yes, it is such a nice change! It will be cooler this weekend, but still, much above what we had just a week ago.
* Sending good wishes for all of you who are still experiencing the cold! (((HUGS)))
Tomorrow is another day.

What sport was your dgs training for, LadyM?
Mountain Biking (Cross-country)
I did not know anything about this sport until DGS18 and DS52 started doing it together. The place they live is the home of WMart that has funded/built amazing OZ Trails for riding bikes. What started off as a pleasant way to spend a couple hours a week together eventually led to DGS18 going competitive. Then it turned into working with a trainer.....then traveling to dozens of race events in the states and international. The logistics of the action behind the scenes fascinated me with the necessity of making sure the equipment (bikes, parts, etc) traveled to the race locations by hired vehicle while and the participants usually traveled by air in order to limit time away from school/job. So many factors to consider.... like the altitude of the race would affect how many hours/days they needed to arrive before the race in order for their bodies to acclimate.
I watch the Olympics and wonder about all the gazillion details of the behind-the-scenes action.

We were in the mid 80's yesterday with bright sunshine. I had to put on a summer weight short sleeve shirt for the first time this year.

I am planting something in the raised bed almost every day now. Will they all sprout and become productive plants? Doubtful, but I get great joy being outside and having my hands in the garden soil again. Cauliflower, broccoli, chives, onions, garlic, potatoes, radishes have all been planted recently. #MyHappyPlace

DD14 made it through the entire day of school today. She said there were lots of kids absent and the rest were coughing so much that it was hard to hear the teacher. Over the past 5 days of DD14 being sick, we have tried several different OTC cough meds and have a clear winner. I haven't compared ingredients to know what is different but just know this one is the only one that gives her relief from nonstop coughing. The only downside is the 4 hour limit so will need to take it again in the middle of the night for a complete night sleep. I've been told to expect the coughing phase of this virus to last up to 2 weeks.

I spent an enjoyable hour in the kitchen cooking. I made spaghetti, meatloaf and BBQ chicken. I was going to make Chicken parmesan but changed my mind.

Washer seems to be fixed. I will be doing a load at 7 p.m. to make sure. Repair guy spent just under 2 hours trying to stop the leak. He had to take it all apart 3 times. Thankfully it didn't cost anything to get this leaking dealt with other than patience.

Dh has his appointment with the nurses this Thursday at 9 a.m.

I have a lot of out-of-the-house stuff to deal with tomorrow.

Later ...

3 cheers!!! Washer didn't leak. I put it on a long cycle, so it isn't finished yet. Everything is this load is pants and socks and underthings.

Hoping blessed and her dmother had a good day.

Hurray for a non-leaking washing machine, Cathy!

So much sickness around, LadyM. It's amazing you escaped - sounds very catching if there's so much coughing.

Sorry to hear lucylee and Nancy had some kind of "down" moments today, but glad they were fleeting.

lucylee, ask dr for a really clear understanding of the risks and benefits.

Wow, Mystery, a concerning banner on front of that bus - hope everything was okay... ..

Waving to Ramblin' if she gets to check in.

DgsC and dgsJ came by and offered to help with our trash and recyclables, but we were already finished yesterday. Ds called with the same idea. It's a big pickup day tomorrow for everyone, since we didn't have a pickup during the storms last week. Ds was also on the way to bring some paving stones he wants to put down beside our side steps, but he's putting that off until tomorrow.

We'll be out tomorrow for my appt and may go by a grocery.
