Hello, all. It is a bright grey day here today...so, winter, LOL. It is up around freezing, so a good day to bring Germane outside. I can't go out between two and five, in case the new ISP sends a tech, though I don't think that they are going to. I think that they are going to do their part remotely, but can't be sure so staying in. I'll see if Germane would like to go out for a carry later on.

I'm like you, Kittykatt. I can't remember getting the measles vaccination specifically, and my family moved so much it's possible that we slipped through the cracks, but because it was public policy and done through schools, it's very likely that I have had it.

It took me by surprise that all three holidays came on the same day this year too, helia. I just happened to see it on Facebook, so thought I'd share here. :D
WTG on getting your NY cards done!

(((L.Ann and DD33))) I sincerely hope that your DD33 is never exposed to measles by people who have chosen not to vaccinate.

Thank you for that, CathyS. I wasn't aware.

Have a wonderful birthday dinner, trissie!

Stay safe, kitkat. On the radio, they were talking about checking the sump pumps in Southern Ontario, as a sudden melt over frozen ground means that water will run along the top and flood instead of sinking into the ground. We're that bit colder where they are still talking about snow for us.

That is quite the tightrope to walk, but you got this Bama! This is just not the weekend bring in outsiders and you have very practical reasons why. And if she insists on bringing a friend this weekend, then we are delighted to see her but we will put off car shopping for another time and if she reaches the end of her paid car rental then she is an adult and will have some decisions to make.

I am at the end of Page 1, and had better head to the shower. I don't want to be in it, if the ISP actually sends a tech during their service window of two to five.

Tuesday
Breakfast for dog. She did a lot of will she won’t she but ate it in the end.
Made my usual breakfast of vegetables and rice. Dog begged hard for pieces of carrot from my dish.
Cut up Apoquel for pill organizer
Apoquel and new container of dog food for Germane: rejected

Hello, everyone!

WTG finishing the cards, Helia!

Enjoy your birthday dinner, Trissie -you deserve some time to celebrate you. :D

L.Ann, I do hope DD manages to stay away from any exposure. One of my friends has to take immunosuppressants, so she is also vulnerable.

Cathy, thank you for reminding us it's also also WI day. My Dnextdoorneighbour C is a member,.and enjoys the meetings, the talks, and especially the lunches!

KitKat, I hope you stay safe and warm.in the storm.

Bama, I'm sorry about the difficulties with DD's attitude. It's possible you had measles.when you were young, but were asymptomatic - apparently this is rare (it's usually a nasty illness!), but it can happen.

Dogged, I think it's highly likely you either had the vaccination or you caught measles, as it's so very infectious. I discovered yesterday that our government launched a campaign at the end of January to vaccinate as many people as possible whose vaccination status is "unknown". I'm fairly sure this is in response to the outbreak in London. Apparently if you've already been vaccinated or exposed, you can still have the MMR, and it means that any side effects from the vaccine are likely to be less. My personal feelings are that I had the vaccine as a small child, but in the current climate I can't see anyone letting me do the blood test as it takes time and money and isn't strictly necessary. So if I can't find any original paper records I'll just take the jab and get it done with. But I am going to query why those other vaccinations are missing from my record, as I do have physical proof of them (a small scar for each).

Today has been cold with some sun, and above all, dry! DF CW is off work this week, so I helped her in her garden this morning, and we also had a good chat. There was also time for me to tidy my garden and quickly give the lawn a light strim to tidy it up after the winter, before lunch. This afternoon was housework. Now DH has gone to choral society, and I'm procrastinating sorting through that box file, which will hopefully have the documents I'm looking for.

Thank you for agreeing with me, Dogged. My family thinks I’m mean. Whatever. :P

Kudos for food eaten, Germane. Now work up that appetite for seconds. Umm enjoy your winter I guess… it’s already spring here, it will be close to 80* this weekend ugh. (26 Celsius)

Kittykatt, stay safe from those germs. Dh has had shingles before and I definitely don’t want that. Sounds horrible.

Done:
Weigh
Breakfast - coffee and yogurt logged
Clean floor in living room
Gave cats some canned food so they stop following me
Scooped bathroom litter
Wiped down bathroom
Dogs out, in, fed
Wfd? Pancakes and bacon probably, maybe scrambled eggs
Emails
Pet chores
Changed pads under litter boxes yuck
Fold and leave on bed dh’s clothes
Re washing shirt that still had soap on it
Drying chair cover
Water in progress πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ’§
Set out stuff to make pancakes later
Tossed old lunch meat
Fed Lola outside cat who was staring at me from the steps
Set birdseed outside so I can refill feeders when I walk
Listening to book club while charging phone as I fold clothes

Gather up cat food and turkey feed and set outside so I can feed them while out
Heading out for a walk

I am all clean and sparkly and ready for what comes next. I have checked the ISP's web site to see if there are updates/additional instructions and there are not, so I will wait until the end of the activation window (5:00 pm) and then install the equipment and test it. Yes, this means that Doggedly gets to play with gadgets.

L.Ann, my bathroom walls are looking at yours and saying that they could use some attention too, LOL.

Kittykatt, I wish that we had vaccination records like our dogs and cats do. Every visit to the vet gives you the list of vaccinations and when they need to be renewed printed right on the receipt. Wouldn't that be handy?
I think that a day where you got to work in TWO gardens is automatically a good day. :D

Bama, that is why we need one another. To confirm our sanity, LOL.
Wow, 80 degrees. I can't even imagine it. Here, we are satisfied for winter to continue. What we really need in a spring is days above freezing and nights below. It melts the snow a little at a time and gives the ground a chance to start thawing out, so that it can act as a sponge. It gives the plants a head start, and minimizes flooding. It is also necessary for a good sugaring off (maple syrup harvest.)
Enjoy your walk!

Kitkat, we're forecast to get a lot of rain tomorrow morning. Maybe it will become snow when it hits you?
Have fun with gadgets, Doggedly.
Ooh, two gardens for Kitty! And a nice visit with your friend - it all sounds nice.
Enjoy your birthday dinner out, trissie!
Enjoy your walk, Bama. Did you say it is 80*F where you are?
Wow, L Ann, that must be concerning re: lack of immunity to measles. I've never heard of vaccines not working in that way. I hope the Dr. was quick and easy.

They call monthly and I try to answer their Qs re: work schedules and other randome topics for everyone in this house, including M, to the best of my ability.

Next:
- return call re: census bureau
- payroll: make new session exam checklist

- garbage and recycling gathered and to the curb
- duolingo
- update health apps: WW, MFP, Finch
- read for fun
- writing time?
- put up weekly list here

Just a mole check, helian on one mole I was concerned about. It is fine. I heard a podcast from Hopkins at some point during covid where they talked about getting the measles vaccine but not titering that you have had it. They think that some part of your immune system will still recognize the disease and be able to handle the exposure. Hopefully we don’t have to test out that theory.
