Mystery, your attention to making your card file work for you more efficiently is inspiring. GOOD JOB. It's true there's no perfection to be found for us, but it's always worthwhile to tweak those dailies, weeklies, etc.
LadyM, thanks for the wave to us.
Pots - Yes, a nail would do it. I have a walnut set (meaning metal squeeze cracking tool and a few picks that look like dental instruments) and I'm thinking one of those deadly looking picks would manage to start a small, but pretty definite drainage hole.
One of my DPCs done. A promise they'd get back to me... .. we'll see, I suppose.
Texted ds a brief question about whether his family will be around this weekend, not traveling, and they will. Texted back to him , no reason, with musical notes. This means I'm on schedule with cooking, without telling him. He knows. I know he knows. He knows I know he knows. lol
Fielded a nice call from dgirlcousinS. Laughed and laughed. She is a funny one and we enjoy each other. She's letting me know that a second of her grands will be joining his older brother at univ. where DangerBoy is also a student. The campus so big, though, that already we know they never see each other - our two already there even have similar majors in College of Engineering, but no classes together. This younger one headed there has a School of Medicine direction in mind, so I have no idea they'll ever run into each other. Might as well be in different towns.

I have been outside after doing dishes and fighting yarn patterns.
Got the board and saw horse back the way it needs to be.
We have less rain now, the wind has eased up.

Re: Thursday Enthusiastic Thumbs Up PWYC
Well, how appropriate that this would be Plant a Flower Day -- my Sunday School text thread started the morning with one lady giving away some sort of potato vine -- and some roses if people want to dig them up. Since I have black thumbs
I'm ignoring all of this. I do wish I had gotten potting soil yesterday at Wmart, because I do want to see if the flower seeds (that I've had forever) will sprout. I also need to remember to do some bulbs in the fall, Mystery -- I want to dig up my daffodils that no longer bloom and maybe start some more there, and I'd love to have some tulips mixed in with them.
I didn't get the potting soil because I knew I needed some sort of drainage in the pots but didn't think I had anything to use -- but them last night, I remembered I still have some of the 'egg' size rock that might work -- what do y'all think, would that create some drainage for these plastic pots?
Nancy, it was sooo windy here last night and now it is cold! (Not really -- it's 54 degrees, but since it will be below freezing Monday and Tuesday nights, I should not complain about this!) But I had to put on a sweatshirt over my t-shirt since my heat hasn't kicked on yet. I'm glad we're not looking for snow, Cathy! However, the major weatherman in the state had photos on his Facebook page of the Blizzard of 93, which began on this date, so we're not all clear yet. (Dmom will have some days that she can wear the sweatshirt I got her for her birthday!)
Twins, dmom was working on her taxes this morning too. I thought she wanted me to help clean out a closet, but when I called she said no, it could wait, she needed to get this stuff done. I was glad because I did NOT wake up enthusiastic about the day. It took me FOREVER to get myself out of bed and into the shower. (I skipped my bedtime shower last night.)
I did complete the vacuuming in the main area of the house yesterday, and did the baseboards in the computer room.
I still have one very small load of laundry to do, and I need to vacuum bedroom and bathroom.
Right now I'm watching AU and TN -- Twins and Rose might be interested, but right now AU is winning 39-33 early in the second half.

Re: Thursday Enthusiastic Thumbs Up PWYC
Oops... dh and I both ended up having afternoon naps. Thankfully dh turned the stove on to help reheat last night's leftovers. I turned on the dishwasher before I went to join dh. So, dishes and dinner are both looked after.
Dh started his increased dosage of his water pill this morning. He's not a happy man today He snapped at me and I immediately told him he wasn't to talk to me like that. The he said he was upset because he's having a rough day due to the increased dosage. The unpleasantness started and finished in less than a minute.
Dh also spent a lot of time in bed a actually sleeping last night and today.
He was going to go for a chest xray today but we both agreed he could save that for tomorrow.

Re: Thursday Enthusiastic Thumbs Up PWYC
Home from workout and picked up at drugstore. Decided not to go to UPS store today, since I'd have to basically pass the house to get there. I'll go out in the a.m. for that. I need to walk the ddog soon. Dh is out, he left while dcleaning lady was here and I don't think he's been back.
Good workout - skipped anything that would stress right knee, which has been sore for awhile. Primarily up and down steps. Not horrible pain, but consistent. So did a lot of abs, upper body, and cardio. I am tired. I used to think that when I was with the trainer who owns it I got an easier workout, but I'm not sure now. That's who I was with today.
I've resolved travel plans - leaving here on Saturday the 21st to drive to D.C. I'll take two days to get there, and I used points for Sunday and Monday nights there. I'll be going to the DAR library. Then on the afternoon of the 24th I'll drive to Richmond and have 3.5 days to research there - I'll leave for home on Saturday afternoon and take one or two days to drive home.
Glad to have that off my mind but need to change hotel in Richmond and start a list of stuff to do before I leave, and stuff to research while I'm at both places.
Back much later, of course I didn't post this because dh came in. He's eaten and headed out to bowl tonight.
I'm going back upstairs to take another look at dd's tax return. I think I'm good with it. And I need to move on.
Lucylee, is this the SEC tournament already? And I'm with you, my enthusiasm was off this morning knowing I needed to clean up for dcleaning lady and look at dd's tax return.

Yes, SEC tournament. Tennessee is now leading by 8 — two minutes left in the game.
— TN won.

Re: Thursday Enthusiastic Thumbs Up PWYC
blessed, I hope the appt goes well and you actually get a lot more done today. I tend to get one thing done (and not much more) on any day in which that one thing is an appt away.
lucylee we approach here the date, tomorrow, on which in two different years I watched a foot of snow fall. So I am hopeful of course, but believing nothing. ON THE OTHER HAND, our low last night was 70. I kid you not. Yet today we dipped into 40s. ??? If I'm confused, the budding trees must be befuddled for sure. I wish I could believe that the snakes are still confused enough to be hibernating. (But dgdC pointed out a wasp to me yesterday.)
rocks for drainage spacing - I've read somewhere that the size (ratio?) of rocks-to-pot should allow at least 4 rocks to nestle in one layer. Now, was that for drainage for a particular plant? Hmmm... .. I think I have usually communed with the plant and tried to get its opinion... ..
My kitchen work is done and appliances put away, counters neat again. The bottom drawer of the fridge is sheltering a pie that must chill and set. Beside it the topping that I want to be chilled when I put it on tomorrow, so everything is the same temp when they touch.
Yes, this different vanilla extract is as aromatic as can be - Twins', I think we both had a romantic aroma in our kitchens today, lol. (remembering Elly Mae Clampett using vanilla behind her ears as her only perfume)

Re: Thursday Enthusiastic Thumbs Up PWYC
I love it, Harriet! I'd forgotten!
All it took was me sitting back down here and looking at the tax return again and I figured out I had made an error on a schedule - couldn't read my writing or maybe wrote it down wrong. So I texted dd that's good to go. She will be pleased with these refunds. She had way too much withholding for NY.
Yes, we have this cooler weather also. I decided not to go to the plant nursery for ferns today. They will take better care of them there than I would if the ferns were on my front porch. I well remember the big 1993 snow when dkids were 9 months old. We were so lucky, power stayed on and we could ride it out. A lot of our mountain was without power.remembering Elly Mae Clampett using vanilla behind her ears as her only perfume

I got my new tops had washed & driped dried enough to go in the dryer.
It feels great to get those items done and dishes put away too.

Made myself a sandwich for dinner.
I laid on the bed for a bit to rest my back ddoggo was so excited for "play time"! LOL!
I talked with my dsis while I did that.
Tried to watch the book TV one C-span if was so captivating NOT that I napped In front of the t.v. on centennial history stuff today.
Flood watch has been posted on fb for our area b/c of atomspheric river.

Re: Thursday Enthusiastic Thumbs Up PWYC
I had to run the dishwasher twice today. The soap tray lid didn't open the first time. I hope it works this time around.
Dh is doing his night meds.
I have deep cleaned 2 litter boxes. Just 1 more to go.
