I've mostly figured out what I'm taking and have stuff pulled out. I don't like to cause extra anxiety to the dog and pull the suitcase out too early. And it's in the way too if I leave it open and not accessible if it's closed.

Dfriend A is here helping dh with the outside lights at our wall and firepit. They've been out except for one or two.

I need to run to grocery store - dh had said that he'd do it when they were done but I'm antsy because we need to take a salad tonight. First I think I'll go upstairs and putter a bit more. Perhaps they'll finish up and I won't have to go. And OTOH I might think of other needed things.

I've gotten a pile of stuff I dead headed in the back yard picked up and put where it goes.
Had my lunch.
Did some knitting looked at the weather in other areas as ours is not so extreme here.
Glad for that!

Well I was able to spend an hour outside reading my book. Wind was blowing some but the sun was warm.

I went to my class and coffee gathering and then came home and made lunch for both Sweetie and me.

Caught up with my laundry and decided to take the day off. Yesterday Sweetie’s companion came and in less than 3 hours I went to the grocery store, target, office max and the shoe store.

Came home, unloaded the groceries and put them away. Made a quick lunch and headed to the lawyers to pick up our trust to review. On the way home we stopped to get a quick dinner came home and folded more laundry…

I got things straightened up a little upstairs. Makes me feel better not to come home to a mess.

DH went to grocery for me so I have stuff for salad. We have odds and ends of veggies that need to be used that I can add.

Costumelady, I hope you do drive out for an ice cream or any other treat together. It is good for clearing the head and considering lots of possibilities.

Although ice cream didn't figure, HRH and I drove out today. We saw the new road surfacing and actually had to go in a direction different from our plans because it was still going on at the intersection. That let us see some different scenery. We had lunch at an inexpensive but comfortable place.

I decided on a final, I think, quilting finish for one of these blocks, did that, and have reached a point at which only border and 2 little motifs remain. So, I could unpin everything and set this aside to start the next section, or could border while I'm working on a smaller scale. Thinking.

Chatted with DangerBoy, who had just finished up an interview for a univ program or apprenticeship of some kind.

Next up, I'd like to strip bed and change the linens.
Also have some drip-dry laundry to put away.

Well we did talk, he feels like he has wasted his life. He did other things when everyone else went to college, he started college and had a depressive bout and dropped out and then ran away to live in Minneapolis, came home and went back to college for 2 years, pandemic happened and he dropped out again and did a deep dive down a dark rabbit hole hanging out upstairs in the dark all of the time. All 3 boys moved home then. Got him to help me tutor and then later got him to be a substitute teacher which he loved. Went back and got his education bachelors on line and got hired as a long term full time sub making first year teacher wage in November. But his pay was not the full year pay as he started in late November. I was wanting to buy a flippable house for him but he didn't want that and found this land he really wanted. We are going to buy the land because we think it is a great investment. We will hold on to it for several years and see where things go. He is in just a very negative mindset, thinks education is in the toilet, feels we will go into another Great Depression, says how the government just wants poor people to die, can't afford to get an apartment and save to build but he doesn't want to live in my craft room. We do still call it the craft room on Alexa and I really should change it to his name. Do I want them to move out and become independent? Of course I do but I am very glad we had a place for them to come. They both have now graduated and we just need to find them a job and a girlfriend.

Did not take that aride but we will be out an about all day tomorrow and have theater tomorrow night.

Can't believe some of you have plants you can deadhead already. I don't even think I know how to deadhead. I am hoping to carry 3 12 foot boards in my convertible and 5 pots and 5 things of dirt and 5 cinder blocks - we can borrow our neighbor's truck but he has a short bed and I think if the boards sit down the middle with the top down and lean across the back and we put on red flag and take the back roads home and not the highway we should be fine. I also want to plant some seeds tomorrow and prep my garden beds. I hope we still have a wheelbarrow. It said to pull dried plants, dump them all into a wheelbarrow and add fresh potting soil and stir it up and refill and to start with rocks. I did so when I dump I will take out some big handfuls of rocks and then it said I could mix them in. I may go ahead and plant in the ground 2 of the roses, or maybe just let them grow in pots this year. If I do put them in the ground (I have 5), I can cover them with something if it gets cold. We are taking my car in for a break check, we have grocery shopping to do, I want to go to farmer's market, and we need to make Kombucha. We go see a show tomorrow night too.

I love coming here and reading your doings and thoughts. I feel honored to be a part of this special SHE village.

We did a few errands this afternoon. When we arrived back home the interior of our home was 87F. I enjoyed the outside temp being warm, but 87F is too warm to be comfortable inside the house. The a/c units were immediately turned on. I suspect the a/c units will now remain on until November.

I have a new-to-me daily favorite food. Avocado toast. I experimented in how to keep the sliced avocado from turning brown and to remain ready & easy to use. I thinly slice 50g of avocado onto parchment paper and freeze it. Preparing the avocado toast takes less than 5 minutes now. Avocado toast is the last thing I eat in the day because I enjoy the anticipation.

I have two sleeping grandchildren under my roof tonight. DGS on the couch, dgd in my bed, and they both look so sweet. It will be a different story tomorrow when she starts snapping at him for everything he says. However, tomorrow is a mixed bag. She is going to our pastor's house at 10:00 a.m., and I think the pastor is taking them to an Easter egg hunt. So dgs and I will be alone till around 3:00 pm. THEN, the pastor told me she has to go to a 50th anniversary party/vow renewal, and I am h e s i t a n t l y thinking the right thing to do would be to offer to let her grandson stay with us till she gets through with that. This child is 7 or 8 years old, and he and dgd play together very well, but he is extremely ADHD, and I suspect part of the reason the pastor wants dgd over there every time he visits is because dgd helps entertain him. So he will probably make me crazy if I have him over here tomorrow afternoon, but it is probably the right thing to do.

We got home from dgd's ballgame around 9:30, I guess (which we lost, but we did look a little better than we did last night, which we also lost.) I made dgd take a shower and she fell asleep pretty quickly. I washed a load of clothes so she would have something to wear tomorrow and now I am going to take my shower and try to get some sleep.

(((CostumeLady))) I think that is a great gift you're giving him for the future, if it turns out later that he does build on the lot you're buying. Who knows what the future may hold. We were very fortunate that we built on family land. And btw -- my dh lived with his parents until he was 28 and saved saved saved so we were able to build our house about six years after we married. (We also were blessed to be able to live rent free in a house my inlaws owned and had used for rental property until we married. Soon after we moved out, my dbil and his wife moved in. My inlaws were very, very good to us. Dfil passed away 14 years ago today.)

Skippable rant, but Harriet may find this interesting, because of your background with the newspaper.
A lady in town writes a column about interesting people, historical interests, etc. and she is on part three of a four part series about the high school principal who was there when dh and I were in school. He was also a coach, back in my mother's school years.
DS keeps up a football history page on Facebook, and he does not put his name on it -- it is just ___ County Football History.
In parts one and two, this lady used photos from this FB page, and credited the page, "courtesy of ...." but she never contacted anyone to ask permission to use the pictures. DS and I think she could have messaged the page (many people do) even if she had no idea who was the administrator of it.
THIS WEEK, she has copied verbatim half a dozen paragraphs, telling ALL about his coaching career and things I'm pretty sure she had NO IDEA about, even saying, "up until his death, 22 years ago today, May 5, 2002." (emphasis added by me)
Right -- she printed it on MARCH 18, 2026. NOT 22 years ago, and not even the correct month.

Oh. My. Goodness. I want to write a letter to the paper and say it is very important, even as adults, to cite one's sources and proofread!!!
And what makes this even more infuriating is that she has a small cult following in this town that thinks she is just the most wonderful writer since... I don't know... Shakespeare???
Another part of me wants to call the newspaper and volunteer my services as a proofreader!

But my question is -- this IS rude, isn't it? Using someone else's research and writing skills to just copy and paste and put your name on it?

LucyLee, you are quite right, and one should *always* quote one's sources (unless it's something that doesn't have an obvious source, like a very old letter where you can't read the signature!)

Lady M, lemon juice will help stop avocado turning brown - I love avocado toast!

CL, I'm sorry your DS is having such a hard time. Land is always a good investment.

Harriet, I'm learning more about quilting every day, and it's fascinating!

Twins, I'm embarrassed to admit, it's only this year I've realised that the sun doesn't rise and set in exactly the same place every day - looking at some photos I took of the sunrise last April, it appears to be coming up from behind different trees than it is right now in March. (Of course we've had so much rain this winter, that I haven't been able to watch a sun rise! )

Yesterday was full and busy, but did involve a trip to the garden centre, so, as today is going to be another warm sunny day, I should have fun planting the pansies and hellebores I bought there!
