Scalloped potatoes are in the oven. Ham "steaks" are on the counter in their vacuum sealed bag. I don't know what veg we will have with this.
I got interested in a very good movie that I have seen bits and pieces of before. Shawshank Redemption with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.
Dh has been sleeping for quite a while. If he's not up by 5, I will be waking him up.

Found Monte Don "Gardener's World" marathon shows on today. Got motivated to prune some on the North fence line.
I think I'll be digging out the rose bushes past their prime and not much fun to work around.
I can get to that later in the week I think.
It was on the Plex TV app.
Had lunch it's time to pop the flash frozen items in a bag.
It's been good to read of your goings on today.

I dug out a small plant I recognized it was in the yard.
So that's in the back bed now.
I chopped off some other too talk wild weedy - flowers.
I'll dig out the roses this week maybe one each day and can use that spot for
irises the need to be dug out and separated and not blooming well where they are in the front and I can put a few in the
back yard by the fence.

We were awakened too early this a.m. when dd27 texted (ding-ding) to let us know that she was about to board her flight to come home. I honestly think she had forgotten how early in the morning it was, and that it would really disturb us unless we'd gone to bed awfully early, which we hadn't. HRH went to find the phone, wondering if everything was all right. I answered her with halting typing, managing a "take care", and those things awakened our brains to the point we were too awake to rest but too sleepy to give up trying. Bad combination. So, yes, "sleeping" in. Sort of sleeping.
Then later it was like pulling teeth to get her to respond that she was home safe. Sigh. Finally, dsonil responded to me. I'm sure she was weary. I'd tried to call Saturday but caught her just as she was riding the subway and needed concentration to identify the right stop, so that was a bust. Saturday night I texted about following along online with a live "tour" of the theatre district to 42nd street and she did respond with a word. I guess that's all I could expect, lol. My children live in a busy universe.
Ddolder is on the long round-trip drive to return DangerBoy to univ.
Low-cost homes in the past - I get that hair-pulling unfairness-feeling. Dsonil audibly groaned when HRH said that his first home cost less than 20K. Mine cost more, but we were on a slower track with my late dh's military time. What a leg up was possible in the 1970s, and how impossible a similar boost is in the 2020s. Not within the realm. Of course, dsonil and dd27 make way more than we did at their age - the cost of living is just in a different atmosphere. By dd27's age, although "heavily budgeted", I had been able to take time off for child-rearing already. Frankly, I did it by forgoing a vehicle, so that I spent 10 to 12 hours a day as an on-foot young mother in a rural landscape. The trade-off benefitted ddolder, but not my financial upwardmobility then, or current benefits now.

Study last evening was very nice. Minister was full of interesting things to tell.

As usual. as soon as all3 litter boxes are clean. all 3 cats need to see if they are safe to use...
I just have 1 load of laundry to put away. I'm done!
Later... I officially got everything done on my very long list for today. Plus I watched part of a movie AND I watched 2 curling games.

I made veggie sloppy joes this evening, with homemade coleslaw, two kinds. HRH likes vinegar in his. We watched BBC comedy together and that was our treat. A very calm day.
Another segment of quilting finished, not too tedious. Lots of pinning to switch, but that can wait until morning. I can consider this third of the top complete until smallest bits that I might do by hand, then assembly.
We've turned the air conditioning on. I think without it, we would have been sleeping poorly this evening, because last night wasn't great, and it's not getting any cooler. Highs in mid-80s, lows in low 60s - might as well admit that it's time.
Nancy, I will do some considering, too, and hope to keep my optimism up for "something completely different".
