That's a long commute for your DH, FrenchFly, and a lot on your plate while he is away. I hope that the boys find activities more interesting than arguing with each other.

Frenchie, I hear you! but little by little, those layers will peel off and a lot of those things only need to be done once (or once in a long while), so next time you are in that area you can work on something else and make more progress!
helia, there are many Jurrasic movies. And they are all the same! Basically they only differ in the order of action sequences! There is a power couple who protect the dinosaurus, a new and more dangerous dinosaurus, a rich owner who has no idea what's going on (may or may not get killed), at least one endangered child, and a money-hungry executive who will get eaten by said new dinosaurus. But who am I to complain when the kids don't fight on who doesn't want to see what!
Dogged, and we didn't stop at the street signs - the previously unnamed footpath behind the embassy is now called Anna Politkovskaya promenade (Anna was a journalist and she was also assasinated) and a tiny also previously unnamed railway bridge in front of the embassy now carries the name of Vitalii Skakun, a 25 year old Ukrainian soldier who detonated a bridge at a crossing from Crimea to the mainland of Ukraine to slow down the Russian advance, fully knowing he would not have time to retreat. I mean... we're at the center of Europe. Wars, nations and power-hungry warlords have been rolling over our tiny country since basically stone ages - you can't break what bends and stabs you in the foot!

The book and author from Friday: Rivers of Sand by Christopher Haveman, he has written other books on the native Americans and the trail of tears and is researching another one. So much misinformation, how to discern what’s actually real or purposely fake or opinion…
I had seen/read about the events yesterday but had forgotten the actual date, we were in Pensacola, a large city for our area, and while they were there we didn’t see any and we weren’t affected in any way (some can get rough)
Beau is well, eyes still watery but not as pink as they were and he’s not scratching them anymore which is the most important. He has a pill and a cream the vet gave us to clear up the allergies. He’s never had allergies before and the Benadryl wasn’t strong enough I guess, or I didn’t give it long enough to make a difference yet.
I’m glad Germane is better, seizures are scary but good to know they are treatable.
So nice of trissies husband to give her a night of peace and quiet.
Cataract surgery - I haven’t had that yet but my optometrist tells me at some point in my life I had a blow to my head (car accident or dropped as a baby…nobody remembers) and I will have to have surgery at some point as a result, I used to be skeptical but I’ve gotten a huge floater in one eye and will require surgery for it.
Books - I’ve noted the Native American books as a good source for some point.
Love the reference to the old cleaning challenges. I don’t really want to go back to that time but having the shes get me through it was awesome and it was actually fun doing chores.
I think I’ve seen all of the Jurassic park movies except the most recent but will need to check. lol at the summary, so true!
Wondering who keeps up with all of the time changes all over the world and how to keep them all straight with everyone being world travelers these days, so confusing to me.
Love the Czech history lessons. And other countries as well!
Dd1 is here, her key fob died and she was told in her city that since the car isn’t in her name the dealership would be charged a $10,000 fine and she would have to pay $300 to get a new battery. Weird. We went to the local dealer and they installed a new battery for free. We thrifted, I found an old eye wash cup. We ate out. Came home and chilled in the hammock while our dogs played (she brought hers down with her). She then had a date w someone from high school that she never knew back then but has touched base with on the reunion page. Dh and I watched a show and went to bed.
Now convincing dh to get breakfast.

trissie Yes, with all that cleaning, I think next time I'm in the Zone I won't know what to clean because it will all look "clean enough" to me.
helia so your "own time" - 3 hours- is dedicated to laundry and groceries... I tend to think the same way, one of my habits is "time for me" and sometimes I realize at the end of the day that I had time for me that day and I used it for some cloth-mending or cleaning something. Is it a woman thing ? That when you have free time, you make use of it with more chores, and at the end we'll even feel like we won something
What is the reward, the feeling of being caught-up on tasks at last ??
About the importance of translation, in books etc. : I would say it definitely has an impact. You get to read the author's story but through the tranlator's choices. And their choices depends on their styles, tastes and such. For instance I'm reading the Lord of the Rings at bedtimes with DS10 - we've been at it for months ! - and sometimes he doesn't get the meaning of some sentences and gets discouraged or his attention goes away, just because the translator, wanting to convey a feeling of "hey this is good litterature, and in the original text there are lots of thou and thee and I can't render them in French, so I will make up for it whenever I can", chose some "elegant", fancy words to translate simple words like hills or cliffs or bushes in the "description" parts, words that sometimes I'm not even sure what they are - and I say it because I think it's a fact I know more words in French than the average French. So, yes, sometimes translation gets in the way of the enjoyment of a book.
Having a break. Then in 15 minutes (4pm) I'll bring the kids to the table tennis place, because they get craszy when staying inside long - and I want to exhaust them a bit so they can get to sleep one hour earlier tonight - I hope it works...
Then around 6pm back for some more cleaning, DS7's homework, dinner, showers, setting things up, uncurling my hair and all the Sunday night routine.

I've had an experience kind of like that with a translation. My French is not good enough to read without a struggle, so I turned to an English translation of Le Matou. In French, the protagonist Florent swears a lot, but in a varied and imaginative way. He is presented as an intelligent and imaginative young man, but uneducated. A diamond in the rough, as it were. In the English translation, every swear word was translated as an F-bomb. In English he is presented as uneducated and dull-witted. I gave up entirely trying to read it, and watched it in French when they made it into a movie. Which went pretty well, except that the turning point of the plot is when they find something in a book that gets them out from under their obligation to Ratablavasky, but to this day I don't know what it was, LOL.

Lol Dogged, the dogs had sort of a friend date you could say. Beau accepts Uri, her Australian shepherd mix, but they don’t really play together as Beau is older and just wants his ball, everything else is just noise. Thumper can’t stand Uri for some reason and his short coat bristles up along his back. He’s funny looking and Uri ignores him. We keep them mostly separated.
I’m so impressed at the multiple languages you all speak and the stories you tell.
FFB, I could still use the challenges, I just have more time to myself to tackle hot spots and more of a lack of urgency without keeping track of multiple schedules. Don’t sweat the chores, enjoy your family as much as possible, would be my takeaway from the past.
We’ve eaten, watching a Hudson and Rex, then I need to get moving.

cook broth for freezer (for next week's dinner)
deck (basic) cleanup
and the regular stuff:
Pup walk
groceries / Bakery!
Hope to deal w
winter clothes
sorting piles of socks
Starting with meds/supplements
find long leash for pup
find bag or basket for socks
basket or box for donations/give aways

Doggedly, how come I had never heard of Le Matou ! I will have a look at the book and maybe read it. I don't know much about Quebecois authors or books... Except the trilogy by Anne-Marie Sicotte about midwives in 1845 Montreal, that I enjoyed very much.
