The site has been balky while I CUOPed, so we'll see if this posts without too much trouble. OK, try one did not work; let's try again....

Had a very busy weekend. Saturday, I had book club in the morning, DC's play in the afternoon, and girls' night in the evening. Friday was also a presentation of DC's play, plus I had to go shopping for stuff for book club and girls' night. I just picked up some muffins for book club (our hostess made a fabulous strawberry/orange jam tart, which meant the muffins were unnecessary, but some did get eaten), but although I said I'd just bring garlic bread for girls' night (the main course was eggplant parmesan), I figured I should at least put in some labor on it rather than just bringing a package. So I got a nice loaf of Italian bread and picked up some fresh garlic & parsley and made the spread. I don't think it was really worth the extra labor. Alas. It still got eaten.

DC's play was a one-act, "Aria Da Capo," by Edna St. Vincent Millay. It was... different. It was not in any poetic form, so that wasn't it. Then again, these were very amateur actors; maybe it would have flowed better and/or made more sense in the hands of someone more experienced. I thought DC did well, though.

Harriet, I tried a sweet potato in the microwave the other day, and it really hit the spot. I will have to pick up more when I go shopping. Ooh -- we were given some infused olive oil for Christmas; I will have to try that in place of butter and see how it goes.

Twins, I hope the new situation with the cemetery will allow you to get things sorted to your satisfaction. I hope you find someone to take over the treasurer position quickly.

LadyM, the bathroom is (or should be) a priority around here, too. I've been putting it off long enough that DH took it upon himself to put fresh towels in. I'm not sure why I'm so reluctant to do it -- maybe because it's just a bother to change into something that I won't care if I get bleach on. It is one of the few times when my mother's habit of doing all the cleaning on Saturday morning makes some sense -- put on something ratty, get it all done, and then change.

Now that the play is over, I will get to pick up DC at a reasonable hour. I have mentioned to them that I will likely have them do the drive home. I will get DD to drive me to the drugstore, I think. Only other thing on the agenda is to possibly go down to the beach club and submit our membership dues for this year; today is the first day to do that. DH has guys' night tonight; I'm not sure what I will do about dinner -- likely pizza. Our favorite pizza spot was closed for a while due to some storm damage, but they're up and running again.

I went to the Monday morning stitching group. We had a new person show up who wanted to learn how to crochet. Happily one of the ladies was able to introduce her to how to start a granny square. (She wanted to learn that particular thing.)

Dh hasn't gone outside yet. He has a PSW coming at some point this afternoon.

There is no longer an afternoon group on Monday, but dh doesn't know that. I go out and come home at the same times because it confuses him when I don't go out. Plus maybe he enjoys a break from me.

LM / When I was in beauty school after high school I was on clean bathroom one week and I was clueless.
Came home and told mom she needed to teach my sisters how to do that.
She would clean while we were at school.
So for a few weeks you might have an alternating schedule dson one week , DD on next week, U on a third week.
Repeat that for a bit then if it does not work hire that out.
But at least the kiddos will know how to do that task.

Dson learned it at work in a fast food place, so there are other ways to learn.
An important life school.

I've gotten the trash out and rebooted the cans for trash pick up day
with stuff I've edited and weeded out of the garden beds.
I have called about ins. quote.
We have walked, saw a mom and young deer.
Earlier heard the wild turkey and saw them down the street.

Twins -- yes -- I wanted a steroid shot for the allergy symptoms -- runny nose, sneezing, coughing, headache.
My doctor's dad -- who was my doctor from age 2 till ds was in high school -- used to say, "A steroid shot doesn't CURE anything, but it makes everything feel better." It is not unusual for me to get a shot in the spring when everything starts blooming.

I told the nurse, I probably brought this on myself by trying to wean off the allergy shots and the daily antihistamine. (OTOH, I also told her I was suspicious that the Medicare card had jinxed me. )
I didn't even see the doctor, and the nurse agreed with everything ChatGPT told me last night -- saline spray, Flonase, DAILY antihistamine, and the codeine cough syrup if I have to have something to sleep.

Cathy, that's kinda nice that you go out for the afternoon group, but it's just you.

Mystery, I had trouble getting into the site on my phone, but desktop computer is working fine.

I will join y'all in bathroom cleaning. And laundry. Monday is always laundry day for me.

So, so true. LadyM, it is so hard to believe how much time has passed since you first showed a picture of ds as a toddler in the swimming pool! And now he is graduating and talking about marriage!
I think dgrands are looking forward to their new schools next year -- just across the street for dgd, in walking distance for dgs. DGS has mentioned to ds that he "might NOT" go to AU; he might stay closer to home, like his mom and I did. I know this may be something that stems from his autism, and he may change his mind a dozen times in the next four years, but I will be quite happy if he stays here in Tiny Town and drives to the nearby junior college. You know, I told ds and dmom, if dh were still living, he'd be really sad if dgs didn't follow in his footsteps for college, and it might make dgs feel too much pressure.

Rose -- I am impressed with your step count so early in the day!

afternoon a busy day so just a quick checkin

LadyM… I taught my son how to clean his bathroom when he was 12. We worked side by side 3times before he had to do it on his own. I posted a list on the bathroom door with everything that needed to be done. He had to clean his shower, sink and commode and sweep/vacuum the floor and then mop it.

Once he was on his own I checked how he did. I gave him 3 tries to do it right. After that if it wasn’t done he couldn’t spend time with his friends at the skating rink on the weekend.

He only missed once

Twins… I am less than a mile from Sweetie when I go to class and I have his phone set up so he can call if he needs me. With the new meds he is now getting up, showering, doing his personal and getting dressed correctly.

When I stay for my class I’m only gone an hour and if I stay for either coffee or now drumming I’m gone less than two hours.

Sweetie is now walking independently two blocks several times a day… takes him abt 10 minutes and he always has his AirTag with him.

I do have a companion with him on Tue and Thur. so I can be gone for 4 hours. I usually run errands, go to my drumming class at the city’s community center or just find something I want to do.

These days I have to take his BP and BS, make his three meals, make sure he gets his meds and oversee his evening routine.

Don’t know how long this will last but I’m enjoying this freedom for as long as I can

Yes, I feel more secure because of Nancy's ddoggo. Wisdom and preparedness.

LadyM, what a milestone for ds17 and for you as parents, as well. And yet, you still do have one in school. I remember when ddnow27 graduated from high school, looking back on my years as a school parent and counting how many there had been from ddolder's first day to dd27's last, and just being amazed at time, as you say. I believe, dear, that you have me beat

I'm so glad the sweet potato idea was helpful, Mystery. It fills a niche for me so many times when I want something but not too much, want to be smart about it but comforted still.

drumroll... .. I'm having a good day.
One clue - I'm home much earlier than expected because no time-consuming med that makes me sick. Now I will start a daily liquid med to drink that tastes bad, they say, but hey, I can take a bad taste. It's a step forward into self-sufficiency. Also, my blood work can be done just minutes away now, and sent on to the doctors there. Short trips. Will post a little more in J and C.

Cheery visit with my dr as she prepares to relocate. She showed us her photos of recent trip to potentially choose a house where it is genuinely hard to find houses... .. like even ... .. built. She says her dh is looking forward to living in rustic surroundings, roughing it, lol. (He is just as urban as she, but they will thrive, I'm sure.) She has chosen a new dr for me and also showed us her photo - she picked an experienced woman, which is nice to hear.

HRH just wanted to stop for takeout on the way home and call it a day.
So, maybe tomorrow or the next day when he gets antsy, I'll suggest the garden center or home imp again. Today we are sort of "done". Traffic was nerve-wracking.

"Growth" shows an ugly face on this trip, as usual. My great uncle's home, barn and silo, where my ddad worked and lived as a young man for about a year, and where dear cousins were reared, has been torn down into rubble.

Oh, and about gardening, she did see on tattletaling scan that my lungs are not as clear as she wants, or as I might think. Sigh. So, gardening has been a double-edged sword of good physical activity but some warnings. She's not alarmed and puts it down to what poor
(lucylee) is experiencing. But, she has decreed that I now WILL wear a mask outdoors at all times for 3 months.

Made the bed.
I rolled up the hose and moved the 2nd lawn chair and side table in prep. for mowing.
Came inside and did a bit of knitting chillaxing b/c it was too wet to mow.
I had a feeling of angst looked outside and storm clouds are coming in
might have lightening so changed my mind on mowing for now.

After my lunch ...
Bread dough got mixed up and it's raising now.
Did up those dishes.
Walked to both corners to get my step count up that helped.
Stairs to basement are next.

Home from workout and I ran errands after. I had to go to city treasurer's office because I, as treasurer, forgot to pay our stormwater bill on time. After there, I voted in the local primary so that's done. Two things off my list. Tomorrow I have body work at ten, then dh and I are going together for pedicures. Totally new experience for him. I'll also take care of going to HOA post office then.

Ds is coming for supper this evening.

(((RRose))) I'm also taking my freedom where I can get it, one day at a time. Sometimes an hour to myself can be such a treat.

As far as housekeeping and teens... I will be forever grateful that my current dh was taught how to do everything inside and outside of a house to prepare him for living on his own when he was a teen. Even now (when he remembers) the bathroom gets a once over every Wednesday and Saturday. I have NEVER had to clean his whiskers out of a sink after he shaves or trims his mustache. He knows how to sweep and mop. The past 2 years have been harder as he has been somewhat forgetful of things and/or in too much pain to be able to do much. I do thank him when he does anything in or out of the house now. On the other hand, I have to help him get up from some chairs now and he also needs help getting pants on and off.
