Morning all. I hope you get the painting schedule figured out kittykat. That will feel better when the house is freshly painted.

I'm glad you are coming on a nice slower season for work helian. Looks like a very enjoyable June.

Morning trissie and lann. And did I miss anyone?

Today is hmm I think it's Victoria day? May long weekend. Gets bad when you can't remember what it celebrates πŸ₯΅ Most gardens go in.. first traditional camping weekend. I'm trying to decide what to do today. I think we're going to the church this morning the guys will do some tech clean up work and I might sit and play that new keyboard some more on my own. Afterwards I'll have to see what dh has up his alley.. he was wanting to get together with ds and ddil. Ds is really wanting to focus on project today. He's being pretty independent at that which is great. I bet it's going to be beautiful.

Some whb tasks. Maybe some art since I just kinda got inspired by qt wonder if I can paint dark over top of my ugly failure canvas. I need more white before I want to use it for starting fresh πŸ˜†. Music. Yes I should take my plants outside and start hardening them. The one I bought after cause I missed it outside on the way in. Maybe I can mix up the soil. Plant bulbs and dig a few from the other bed... I can space the ones in the house and decide layout...

I meant to sleep longer again. Nope... dh did. I think I'm going to go do some journal time and routines.. maybe breakfast.. then see.

So you are off work today, lauralind?
kittykatt, what color did you chose for the exterior of the house?
oooh, have fun with your college roommate, L.Ann! Do you meet often?
helia, that's a very full week you have ahead!

Home from work. My new therapist feels I am "pretizena", which translates as "Overwhelmed, Overloaded, Burned out". Fun thing - "zena" means "woman" in Czech. So I guess I am over-woman? :-)
Aside from being a therapist, they are also a social worker, so I am keeping them, if for nothing else, than to discuss possible steps with DMIL.
DH is car-less - he noticed his car was making weird noises on his drive to his mother's last week, so he booked an apt with our shop for today. The wheel bearings are done, so they will need to be replaced, and since his car is a 4-wheeler, it's gonna be a major pain. No car for him till at least Wednesday evening. It does complicate things, but on the other hand, he is not going to be able to go to his mother's this week, so there's that?

TaDas
- morning madness
- complete morning routine before I left home
- sorted and delay-started a load of lights
- snacks
- all kids to school on time
- work
- therapy apt
- library
- pick up DBD from school
- lights flipped to dryer

ToDos
- midday routine
- 15 outside
- 30 upstairs

Oh, and I wanted to share a cool manatee story!

https://www.reddit.com/r/confession/com ... _the_last/

I have lied to my son about manatees for the last 24 years
24 years ago, my 6-year-old son got me a birthday present. It was a mug with a picture of a manatee on it. He got upset when I wasn't sufficiently thrilled with his gift. I assured him that I loved it, saying that manatees were my favorite animals in the whole wide world.

Since then, manatee themed items have been my default gift from him. Manatee shirts, manatee calendars, manatee beer steins, and so much more. 24 years of manatee items, displayed proudly in my home.

My confession is that manatees are not my favorite animal in the whole wide world. Never have been. I have nothing against them and they seem like gentle creatures, but they hold no fascination for me. I only said I loved manatees to soothe the feelings of my young son over two decades ago. Year after year, I rolled with the lie because it was harmless and I was in too deep to tell him the truth.

Now my deception has reached it's zenith. Next year I am turning 55 and he is turning 30. For Christmas, my son has booked a trip for the two of us to go to Florida to see manatees. My son is so excited for this trip and is telling everyone in our family about it. Even my ex-wife is gushing about my trip to finally see the manatees.

Of course, I am thrilled to spend time and have an adventure with my son. I am grateful for his thoughtfulness and love for his old man. We will have a lovely time together and make great memories. And I will continue the deception about the manatees... which are not my favorite animals in the whole wide world.

Hello, all. Thank you for the fun start, trissie. Who doesn't love manatees?

I'm glad that the new volunteer is working out, Kittykatt. Your lunch yesterday sounds delicious!
On the subject of your SHEM: Today IS going to be a good day. Yes, Germane pooped on the new mat that is so nice and springy, but her digestive troubles are over so it was easy to clean up. Also, a big chunk of egg and vegetable made a break for freedome from my breakfast sandwich, but it landed right on my napkin. It didn't bounce off of my chest, do a triple sowcow onto the floor and then backflip to mash itself into a mat. And finally: Germane is over her digestive troubles and is sleeping the sleep of the just in her preferred bed in the bathroom.

How wonderful that you got to see manatees, helia. :D And wonderful to have coffee to your taste.

Hi, L.Ann. Enjoy your time with Little Bit.

Kittykatt, I can imagine that the famed British weather would add some challenges to painting the outsides of houses.

Hello everyone!

Trissie, the house is going to be Magnolia again. (Probably a bit boring, but it looks clean and fresh and the colour wears well. Most of the rest of the estate is magnolia or cream, so it would look odd if we went for hot pink or purple! ) The only woodwork we have is the canopy over the front door , and that's going to be dark brown again (Iirc, the colour is called "conker". Once again, that wears very well. All the estate was originally those colours. Some people have chosen white to paint their canopies, but that tends to look grubby very quickly and I really dont want to be constantly wiping on it down!). How useful that the therapist is also a social worker. Her skills may be very helpful in the future. (My DF CW, whose DH has a terminal condition, is currently in a care home. But his condition has deteriorated to the point he needs to be in a nursing home. He now has a social worker, who has agreed he needs the level of care that only a nursing home can offer. :(

Enjoy your day off, Laura! You've got lots to choose from.

Dogged, I'm glad Germane is feeling better today.

I'm done for today. The rain stopped for long enough that I was able to walk all those clothes over to the donation bank. All the empty boxes are in the recycling bin, upstairs is clean and tidy, and Matilda is now on my lap.
