Happy Thursday!

I am alive and kicking. Never made it here yesterday because I was at work till 5:30 and since DH had to come home early anyway, I went to IKEA and to buy myself some summer shoes. It royally s***s that a simple trip to the mall requires special planning (I've been trying to get to IKEA for over a month now), but life is what it is.
Also, the keyboard has some issues and misses about half of what I write (cable broken, I think), so I will just post my list and come back on my laptop later!

trissie - IKWYM about planning a trip to IKEA taking a month... Seems like everything I plan is taking that long... which is pretty ridiculous during retirement, right? But, my people have needs and I can't say no as I am just grateful that I am still able to help.
Did you get pretty shoes or comfy shoes?

Kittykatt - hope the paint job is uneventful and you'll be pleased with the results.
LAnn - LMK what you think of the book. A challenge is always good! I switched to reading glasses at night (daytime I wear progressive) I find that made a big difference.

I'm sorry about the keyboard issues, Trissie, that sounds very frustrating. WTG getting new summer shoes!

KitKat, so far so good with the painting. N is very conscientious and a skilled worker. (I think the tea and coffee and walnut cake I'm feeding him may help too! )

N has finished for the day and left. He's made very good progress, all the cladding (except for the north facing side wall which is very high and will be done tomorrow when I brings the roof ladder) and the downpipes are white and sparkling again after being wiped down. The front of the house has been prepped and had two coats. The back and small return wall have been prepped and had one coat. The north wall was, as I suspected, the worst and needed a good cleaning with fungicide to get rid of the green, and another treatment where some bits had peeled, so now needs to dry out overnight, and will be ready for painting tomorrow. If there's two of them working tomorrow, then I can see that all being well, they may finish. If it's just one, then it will almost stretch into another day. I'm just grateful we finally have the dry weather we need!

kittykatt, would they be working over the weekend, or would the job stretch into next week?
kitkat, all I wear are comfy shoes these days! I do have a couple pairs of stiletto heels, but usually only wear them for more important meetings in the office (like, I change when I get in the office - cobble stone and stilletos don't work well together). I bought a pair of black flats and two pairs of flat sandals - a white and a beige one. I may actually have a similar (or maybe the same) beige one, but it's a style that's very comfy (thick stretchy bands forming the top of the sandals, so it's easy to slip on and fits even tired swallen feet at the end of a hot day) so I can always just stash them away till my current pair wears out!

DH came home and instead of ordering a new keybord hooked up an old one that was in the spare parts box. Well, cheap and quick solution!

We went to the art garden. It was nice. The weather is cooler and Little Bit played in the playground. Then we walked and looked for fairy houses and visited the kid’s science section in the museum.

Trissie, if they don't finish tomorrow then I'm not sure yet whether they'll want to come and finish on Saturday, or whether they'll prefer to leave it until after the weekend. It's the Whitsun bank holiday on Monday, so it might mean they wouldn't come back until Tuesday. But I'm not sure if they'll want to leave it that long! I'm easy either way, but I do know that DF PM is booked for next week with them, and her job will take at least 3 days, possibly four (she has a lot of gloss paint to do, which takes more time, plus a door that needs partially remaking and a gutter that needs replacing!)

Helia, thank you, you're very kind. I just want to make sure that people doing work for me feel appreciated.

KitKat, WTG with the decluttering!

I got the fridge cleaned before the grocery delivery, so everything that needs to be kept cold could go straight inside. I made chicken soup for supper, and Fred is now purring on my lap
