Re: Starfish Sunday
Hearing about starfish always reminds me of the Madeline L'Engle book (I believe) The Arm of the Starfish, which I should read again, since I realize I can't remember much about it except that it was a really good read when I was young.
I have to admit that yesterday, the subject made me think of something much less studious, Lucille Ball's imitation of a sea lion, lol. Not flattering of course, to either one, but a funny bit - I think someone called that "trained seal", which we learned yesterday would have been inaccurate!
Anyway, Kittykatt, you have been doing a great job of sharing such interesting topics.
I was stumbling this morning trying to share about a variety of facets of the day in PWYC, lol. FrenchFlybebe popped in to puzzle over where I was going with that, lol. Finally got that to make sense.
trissie, I think our dhs would enjoy a conversation with each other. My dh is a senior online gaming appreciator.
FrenchFlybebe, I also end up being the one who doesn't "get it" when others enjoy drinking at events. Sharing a focaccia sounds lovely.
kitkat, we have waffled between downpours and drizzles here. I'm running out and moving my planter-pots that I can, trying to keep some tender annuals from getting clobbered.

L.Ann, I will have to try those lettuce wraps! What kind of lettuse do you use for them?
Frenchie, I tried to look into it and apparently there's a French brand "Tourtel Twist" that offers a wide selection of non-alcoholic flavoured beers. Here, this started as an initiative of beer companies over 10 years ago, when they noticed that beer consumption went down and women were not buying beer, so they started offering beer mixes. Added some non-alcoholic one and voila, the sales went up big time. It's for drivers, but it's also very popular with everybody who is outside in hot weather, as the bitter-ish taste, outweighted by the fruit flavour, is very refreshing and far less sweet then conventional soda. Regarding the focaccia, you can add just about anything - but if you are using harder vegetables (like even the onions), roasting them lightly in olive oil will prevent them from being uncooked due to the short baking time of the focaccia.
what kind of class, kitkat? Sports, or crafts?
harriet, for a moment there I was like "is senior online gaming appreciator an actual profession? What do they do?"
Contrary to popular belief, people who make computer games for living don't play them much! They might have started the job because they enjoyed the gaming experience, but the novelty wears out once you start noticing the bugs or making notes about what you could implement. Kinda like why I can't watch legal dramas without screaming "that's NOT how it works!" or "great job destroying the credibility of your case!"

Re: Starfish Sunday
I want some of those muffins, kitkat! Like FFB, I love rhubarb! We're weather twins today - it's gray, cool-ish, and we're going to get MORE rain this afternoon. High of 20.5C is forecast. Enjoy the class and walking with the dpup.
How are your home grown strawberries, FFB? I love good strawberries. We are visiting the south of France this August. LOL! We know it will be hot; it's just how travels lined up with the family trip to the Alps. It was either August or not at all.
That's annoying, Kitty, that your neighborhood is blocked in by the run. I always wonder about access to emergency health care, like ambulances, when I hear that happens. Maybe it's over by now and open again. Did you have a big Sunday lunch?
That sounds like a really wonderful evening with friends, trissie. Enjoy gardening today. Ugh on the upcoming busy week.
LOL Harriet at your thoughts on yesterday's subject!
Last night, it was really nice to have dinner and then sit and chat with friends. I didn't get to spiffing the bathroom, but it wasn't too bad as I'd spiffed it on Tuesday before we hosted MM. The food was good as was the conversation, the most important things. Dh and I cleaned up everything afterward. I spent the evening looking at hotels/ bnbs in Detroit. We're thinking of going on a small weekend getaway next weekend. This will help dh not feel tempted to run the half marathon.
Today, It is gray and still wet. It drizzled all day yesterday. It looks like we're forecast to get rain this afternoon - but no precipitation is falling right now. Dh is off on a 3 mile run despite his sore knee.
But 3 miles for him is a concession to his knee; it was 12 mile runs the last 2 Sundays - though he would be tapering at this point anyway if he were still running the half marathon next weekend.
Today, there are only 2 scheduled events on my calendar: church is at 10 a.m. and we have a family zoom call at 8:15 pm. Sunday dinner is not happening bc we're planning on a Memorial Day dinner together tomorrow night. I hope to make progress on payroll this afternoon: course overviews and vocab lists, updating the exam record, and doing my own curriculum review. Laundry would be good but not sure it will happen. Also progress on brain dump items would be good as well.

Re: Starfish Sunday
Hello, all. You have got me craving strawberry rhubarb! I think that I have a bit left in my jar of strawberry rhubarb jam. I'm not sure that it's enough to cover a piece of toast, but it will cover part of it.
I am up and dressed and wrestling with the FedEx website, as they are playing games with my delivery. So this is Day 2 of up early and dressed, waiting for a delivery that is unlikely to happen. I will try to learn my lesson from yesterday and make better use of my time waiting.
Sunday
Got up early to wait for delivery
Spiffed self
Gave dog her heart pill with treat.
Cleaned up after dog

Muffins. Yum...
Wow busy morning. I guess I'm one step later today. Ack I was just going to say I need to take the frost covers off the perrenials... I covered those but they are probably ok... forgot to bring in the sensitive tomato
plants... ack..
One is a little wilty. It will probably recover just set back a bit. Watering the frost off the leaves before it melts off usually helps but I think I was an hour late.
Church in a couple hours. Then not sure what we'll do. I think there's one more band tonight. Maybe some more yard stuff? Maybe nothing? Maybe dh will till again if it's not raining later.

lauralind, kinda hard to imagine somebody has frost when I am literally melting! (I had to go to the uninsulated attic. It was not nice!)
