Wow! It's beautiful, L Ann. I hope you had a great time. Interesting that you have clouds today. We are sunny with clear skies. I guess all the grayness moved out overnight.
Yes - we're sunny too, kitkat! Enjoy the time outside. Do you still go on photography walks? Yes, we are the construction workers.
Sounds like a lovely day, Kitty. I see you're using the late daylight hours well!! Wow - you are having a heat wave. Enjoy the warm weather!
See you soon Doggedly!
I had not heard of her either, trissie. And that's a great SHEM! I like kitkat's comment on it - we are the construction workers.
Last night, I finished edits to the next AI Writing coursepack that LH wanted put in. We watched Fable for dd30 (dd27 is away backpacking in the N Michigan wilderness) who went to a wedding reception and took her for a walk after dinner, so I went for 2 walks yesterday. I finally finished my book! Now - what to read next?
Today, It's a holiday here, Memorial Day, but I'm already getting messages from AC re: payroll to do.

Hooray for female artists week! I don't recall ever learning about any in my one and only, required, high school art class (I spent about an hour last night reading through various internet essays on feminine Biblical images of God. )
Looks like everyone had a pretty nice Sunday.
Laurlind, it's really so much work for you to help your father! (No, I haven't started cleaning out my mother's house, except for 2 [of 45] coats and 20 pairs of shoes that don't fit anyone in the family)
MrVKM took me out for supper last night. We toasted to Mother's 102 birthday, which was Saturday but we were both tired from working in our separate yards, and put it off until Sunday. A year ago the weather was very nice. We had a pontoon ride and wiener roast, which was her request. This year the weather was very cool, cloudy, and rainy.
I think I have decided that I really hate cleaning my K. Fairly easy to determine by looking at the messes I don't clean up; then it's a huge job to clean, disinfect, tidy; but is always done before I start any cooking/ baking.
And this morning I am ready to bleach the countertops so I can make cookies before MrVKM comes. It is Memorial Day in USA, where we remember those who died in various wars and conflicts. A rural church 20 minutes away always has a nice service of remembrance, followed by a fabulous meal, so we are going there (to eat
!) There are only few in my family or his who have served, and all came home well.
Time to go find the bleach and wipe off the counters. DW is running on sanitize cycle. Thanks for the break!

Dogged, Berthe Morisot was one of the very nice surprises in the Musee d'Orsay for me. The second one was Vincent van Gogh - for me, he was kinda meh in photos, but there's that special something if you see his paintings live!
kittykatt, so you have Mr.Kittykatt underfoot today?
That's a gorgeous garden, L.Ann!
And since my not so gorgeous garden calls and it's 5:15 already (I was very late coming from work today, as I had to make up the time I spent in my therapy session today), off I go!

LAnn - I LOVE poppies... and all those flower farms... We went to a tulip farm with dkids last year... I'm hoping for a lavender farm this year...
helia - I need to push myself for my photo walks.. The truth is that my doggie walk plus gym time (plus the housework, dgkids) take most of my effort... and I simply get tired.
How old is Fable now? You have lots of Lab-experience:)
Gma - I'm messy in my kitchen, too... have the habit of pulling out several bowls, utensils... and, am VERY fussy about working on a clean surface (to the point that shopping bags aren't allowed on my counter...)- so IKWYM
That is a sweet outing with MrVKM:)
I don't think I can name a lot of female artists from the top of my head:
Frieda Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe come to mind...
trissie - I love Van Gogh....
We did a (warm) hour long walk with Ddog. Had to work a bit on her crossing over in front of me... I'm a bit frustrated that it still comes up but, I guess, I need to be more patient. She does SO much SO well...
Grabbed a cup of coffee and am using the heating pad for a bit:)

Hi, all. It is Day 4 of up early and dressed and waiting for FedEx who claim that they will deliver my parcel today. We'll see. They claim it will be before 12:30, which would be good as I have to take Germane to the groomer midafternoon. My df messaged me to see if I would like to meet for dinner tonight, but I had to put her off to later in the week as she eats early and Germane will probably be getting out of the groomer at that time. We'll get together on Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to it. I don't see enough of her these days.
Kittykatt, in my imagination we are at the same latitude, but you remind me how much further north you are. Our sunset is about 8:30.
Enjoy your bank holiday!
Hello, L.Ann. Those flowers are gorgeous. And $5 for 25 stalks seems like a realy bargain.
Enjoy the sun, kitkat. It's overcast and forecast to rain here. We'll take it. We're not on fire and it's not flooding anybody's basement.
helia, I can recommend Everything Is Tuberculosis by John Green. I have that on short term loan from the library, so when they take that back I'll go on to Villain Hitting for Vicious Little Nobodies by Lily Wong. I can let you know if that is as good as it sounds.
Marinated salad and smoked ribs sounds delicious! My breakfast was cucumber and cilantro on naan bread and I was pretty happy with that.
Your dinner out with Mr. VKM sounds very nice, Gma. I hope that kitchen cleaning goes well.
trissie, you brought back a funny memory. I am not at all knowledgeable aout art, and I went to a Van Gogh exhibit with my df and her dh. I commented that part of one painting didn't look like it belonged there, and the dh jeered at me that I don't know anything about art. We went a little further and saw the plaque for the painting. It said that Van Gogh rolled it up and sent it to his brother while it was still wet and smeared the side.
Germane is still asleep so I think that I will do a walkabout to see if my parcel is lurking anywhere in the building.

kitkat, the female painters are not that well known, but worth exploring! both poppies and lavendar are so cool in the field!
helia, is there something like the right to disconnect in the USA? Of course, with you being in education, you would probably not use it even if you had it, after all, it's a right, not an obligation.
gma, I am actually listening to a French audiobook - a murder mystery taking place in rennaissance Florence in the painters' circles and it includes the real people from that time, so I learned about a Sister Plautilla Nelli (1524–1588), who was a self-taught nun-artist and the first ever known female Renaissance painter of Florence. She was a nun of the Dominican convent of St. Catherine of Siena located in Piazza San Marco, Florence, and was heavily influenced by the teachings of Savonarola and by the artwork of Fra Bartolomeo. Who would have thought!

Dogged, four days of waiting for Fedex? That's really long!
L.Ann, my kitchen is generally clean when I leave it - and a disaster when I return there, because there's other people who believe that the dishwasher bites off hands or something and the trashcan hold a terrible monster!
Onto my last set!

Oh trissie, I'll have to remember that the dw bites off hands, and a monster lives in the garbage can - is that so the monster can eat the garbage and it doesn't have to be take outside to the bin for the wastehaulers - and be more careful about my cleaning habits!
MrVKM came with me to a Memorial day service at rural church. They used to have a great and full meal of scalloped potatoes with ham, but now, due to lack of volunteers, they served sandwiches (choice of beef, ham, turkey) chips and pickles, with (store-bought) pies. I enticed him with the scalloped potatoes, and he was a good sport when we found out it was sandwiches. It's very difficult to get volunteers these days.
We stopped at my Mom's house, I fixed (by pushing a button) the GFCI plug in that had popped, for the 2nd time in 2 rainfalls. I'll put it on the "brother list" for when he comes later in the summer. He siad he would come and pull up the stinging nettles that are growing along my neighbor's fence (neighbor doesn't take care of my side, even tho when previous neighbor put it in, the agreement was both sides would be cared for by them. They don't live there any more... But what should I expect - current people don't care for their side of the fence either, which is why the weeds grow under and onto my side!)
Today started out cool, and was cool in the shade during the outdoor service, but has heated up nicely. Major TADA is ordered Dinner Theater tickets to Guys and Dolls for when Dsis3 comes in June.
My next TODOs include
Put on work clothes
go buy basil, parsley plants, and tomatoes if I can find some.
Plant them, along with a few marigolds left from my front yard flowers.
