Re: Toyen Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Happy Thursday! Definitely Thanks God It's Thursday evening!
MIL was supposed to have heart surgery (pacemaker) today. SIL (no D, thank you very much) has yet to let us know how it went (6pm here). No, we can't call, because nobody bothered putting DH's name on the contacts list. Also, not a word about whether the hospital social worker was contacted so that MIL would not be released to home care, but instead to long term care. I can't intervene. I'd like to know if DH will be available over summer to do his share of watching kids when they are off school, or if I should look into hiring a sitter. Or just about anything that concerns plans, even as far as tomorrow - is DH going to be home or not? It's a good thing I already know how to stop panic attacks quickly and effectively, because it's been a while since I had so many in a single day.
Can't dwell on what I cannot control, so what can I control? Putting away today's groceries and dealing with housework!
A lunch outside in shade sounds really lovely, kittykatt!
that shows sounds really good, helia, so if we ever get Netflix (we have HBO, Disney and SkyShowTime), I'll check it out!
lauralind, Dana K. White had really good episodes on how to clean a house for guests if you can stretch it over longer period of time (as in, not coming tomorrow) - you can check out the strategies at https://www.aslobcomesclean.com/2024/11 ... or-guests/
one day very soon, Lil Bit will no longer be little, L.Ann!
kitkat, yes, I do know of Toyen, even if I probably would not recognize her works - not really into modern arts. For me, it's ancient civilizations for sculptures and architecture, Rennaisance for paintings, and impressionists!
Did you already assemble the chair, Dogged? Does it to live up to your expectations?
How is DH feeling, Bama? Have they cut him off the heavy pain meds?
TaDas
- morning madness
- snacks etc
- morning routine
- load of darks sorted and delay started
- work
- grocery run
ToDos
- put away groceries
- midday routine
- water flowerpots

That is lovely to have your whole dfamily home, Bama.
(((trissie))) Being kept dangling at the end of someone else's string is so frustrating. If you went ahead and booked the babysitter and then found that they're not needed because your DH will be home after all, could that free up time that you both could benefit from? Like more time in the garden or just relaxing, time to go and see a museum after work, etc.?
You greatly overestimate my competence and industry.
I have looked at the chair parts. I have yet to put any of them togeher.
Thursday
Gave Germane her heart pill
Cleaned up after Germane
Fed Germane
Put away dry dishes
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed some dishes
Put small slow cooker in to soak
Made a fancypants sandwich

Re: Toyen Thursday @ TDD - C&C
I have Little Bit for most of the summer. She has two four day camps that are 9:30-2:30 and 2 cooking classes from 9:30-11:30. Then she has two weeks of swim lessons in my neighborhood at the neighborhood pool. We also have the two weeks of summer vacation where my daughters will be present but with 5 kids will be its own type of crazy! So hopefully things will be busy enough. The pool will help but it doesn’t open until 4:30 while school is still in session for the older kids.
I like the Dana K White stuff, Laura. She also has books both on audio and print that lots of libraries have.

Dogged, I sent you a PM earlier this week - did you receive it? It still reads as "outbox", not "sent"

I enjoy the crazy most of the time, Trissie. DD33 bought a cheap snowcone machine that makes tiny snow cones so we will see if that works.

Re: Toyen Thursday @ TDD - C&C
We know that the children in your life will never be bored, L.Ann.
Sorry, trissie, I didn't see the mail notification.
Thursday
Gave Germane her heart pill
Cleaned up after Germane
Fed Germane
Put away dry dishes
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed some dishes
Put small slow cooker in to soak
Made a fancypants sandwich
Treats for Germane
Started putting chair together.
Got two spokes attached to the base when Germane came out of her den and started trying to lead me to the kitchen.
Followed her to the kitchen, picked up the dog food that she threw on the floor and gave her a saucer of turkey stew. Saw her throw the rutabaga on the floor while she was lapping up the broth.
Put together the rest of the base. Shook it to ensure that the wheels don’t fall off.

Re: Toyen Thursday @ TDD - C&C
I'm trying to do the next step, but in English the instructions are: Before installing (e), now screw the screw to the highest position.
In every other language, the instructions are: The product is under tension/stress, and/or the screw doesn't turn.

Put together the rest of the base. Shook it to ensure that the wheels don’t fall off.
Tried to make sense of the next step.
Gathered the pieces and tried to make sense of them. One part fits, but there is a round part whose screw cannot reach anything to screw into.
Rechecked the instructions.
Found a piece that is not in the direction and realized that they missed a step.
Germane came out and started mugging for attention.
Germane started circling on the pee pads that I was standing on, as I am using my bed as a work surface.
Got out of the way to let her pee in peace
Hauled out the big slow cooker and gave her a saucer of stew, which she ignored
Filled a fridge container with stew. Progress toward emptying out the slow cooker.
Cleaned up after dog: no, Germane is back mugging for treats.
Went to the kitchen, found that she drank the broth and threw the pieces on the floor.
Gave her a saucer full of broth, which she ignored and kept mugging for treats.
Gave her a piece of salmon.
