Good morning
Kittykatt
Thanks for the start and for a name I had heard before! I like her art:)
Thanks for your kind words yesterday:) As much as I like boxers, my pup is a Labrador

... a bouncy one. (As they all seem to be before the age of 3)
Sunscreen became a necessity... Even I put some on before our walks.
LAnn how much fun can you have on a Saturday morning?
Dogged - happy that the chair worked out!
Gma - It's a big job - and, definitely an emotional one. I had such a hard time when Dmom passed away that I did nothing for a year and a half (with her room). What helped me was that we needed to set up a playroom for my first grandchild. It sped things up.
It also seemed like the right designation for that space. If you can get help with it, take advantage of it.
You are an amazing friend!((()))
I did not get back after I got my little one:)
Today, I have our morning walk. My DGD is coming over for me to do her hair b/4 the party. Then we go:)
In the afternoon, I hope to get things done.
Have a wonderful day Everyone:) I'll be back.

Good morning!
Tried to cuops, nodding in agreement that my dh must have younger sibling syndrome, as well as my older brothers, so maybe it’s just a male thing lol. Who knows.
I’m still going through mom’s things, right now I’m stuck on an electric can opener and some small items, sell on local auction or donate? I do make it hard on myself.
Lots of hormones in the house with the girls home, they’re getting snarky so I had to go to bed early. I’m used to my quiet time now and holding conversations with people who act grown but still want me to take them to get glasses and pay for it, as well as grocery shop…well, you can imagine it can be …. (whatever adjective you fill in will probably work here).
QUESTION: Went to doctor yesterday, bp was 140/80 and she wants me on meds…should I take them or continue weight loss and exercise to lower it first? The numbers are usually in that range when I check at home, some lower, some a little higher, not sure that is concerning as the new recs are 130/90 … It’s already come down some… and my vitamin d is low so got a rx for that. Debating what to do as I am horrible at remembering to take meds anyway, I skip vitamins regularly bc I get busy and forget.
Baby bites today:
Bible
Planner
Pets
Dust vacuum mop
Porch water plants and sweep
Put sheets on bed, wash blanket
Pick blueberries
Read lit given by dr on diet
Water
Exercise, walk

In from water 85% of my babies. the rest have been watered more recently and will live until I can get back to them.
Bama, you are right at the border. The older guidelines were to treat at 140/90. One high reading at the dr office is not sufficient to treat. It sounds like you can take BP at home - so do that daily. It varies throughout the day, so for a couple days, check at various times, then choose what is the lowest time of the day to take it regularly - daily or several times a week. Record the dates and times for 2 weeks and return to your doctor with the data. Then see what the recommendation is.
Need to get dressed to go see people and enjoy the reunion.... I'm already 15 minutes late, but it's 10 minutes away, and the schedule is sort of flexible.

Hello, L Ann, Gma, Bama and KitKat!
I'm glad the hazardous waste drop off wasn't too tedious, L.Ann.
Gma, thank you for sharing your research on both "John H's"! Both great men in very different ways.
KitKat, I'm sure DGD will look beautiful for the party with her hair done by Grandma!
Bama, re the blood pressure - Gma is, of course, the expert, but I have a few tips on how to take it, mostly from my own experience. (I have that white coat syndrome, so it's always through the roof at the doctor's, so we all rely on home readings).First of all, you need to be uninterrupted, as talking can give a higher reading. So it's best to do it when you're on your own, or ask everyone else not to disturb you for the next 30 minutes or so. Next,.you need to go to the bathroom - a full bladder can also give a higher reading (sorry if TMI!) You need to sit with your legs uncrossed (crossed legs can give a higher reading!), ensure the cuff fits properly on your arm, and your arm is supported on cushions/ pillows so it's the same level as your heart. I know this all sounds a bit of a faff, but if you keep everything the same each time, then you get a much more accurate idea of exactly what is going on. Oh, and it's quite normal for BP to vary throughout the day - for me it's often lower in the evening. Finally, please dont forget you've had a lot of stress recently, and stress can raise BP! On a less serious note, I would be inclined to just donate the items, as online auctions are a *lot* of work (BTDT) and you really don't need more sources of stress on your life right now.
I've done a little more, but I really need to bake before the sun gets round to the kitchen!

I'm here late - but I'm here! I slept almost 10 hours last night. I was tired.
Now I know the origin of the term "john" for toilet, Gma. I'm surprised how early flush toilets were invented. Thank you for the interesting info! Have fun at the reunion.
WTG getting rid of the hazardous waste, L Ann! Your dinner sounds delicious. Dh has made bang bang chicken before. It was SO yummy!
Sorry about the snarkiness, Bama. Maybe they've gotten it out of their system and today they'll be more pleasant. Growing up can be a long process as kids navigate independence.
Have fun at the party with DGD, kitkat! How did you do her hair?
Sounds like a productive morning, Kitty! Yes, that SHEM is a nice way of thinking.
Dh and I got here without incident last night, though a little later than expected. It's a very nice apartment hotel in a historic building in downtown Detroit. It's quite pricey, but many of the places here are. For a weekend, its fine. I packed coffee stuff, snacks, and fruit so we can be in control of our food a bit more. We had a scrumptious meal at a Cuban restaurant and then walked around a bit. There's a car race happening here, so we wandered over and looked at the track - some city streets blocked off. Lots of car displays too. I'm not into cars, but dh finds them interesting.
Today: It is 11 a.m. and I am just finishing my coffee. I got up quite late, like 9:45 after a nice long sleep. I've just been sitting here looking up stuff on my laptop - I'm not sure where an hour went. When dh and I finally get going, we will go to a state park nearby that is an island in the Detroit River. Canada is on the other side.
Dinner tonight is at an Asian fusion restaurant.
Looking at tomorrow: In the morning we might visit an old Catholic church across the street from us. A family friend of dh's lives in Detroit and attends that church! Her grandfather and dh's father worked together together with Amdahl on the first IBM computers. Dh's father is the one who argued for 8 bit computer architecture as opposed to 6 bit. (If you're curious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrit_Blaauw) I think we are hosting CG2 in the afternoon as it seems that AA can't.
We are also hosting Sunday dinner; M has a friend staying with her (in our house - in ds' old room) this weekend, so it might be dinner for 9 people. OR they may decide to go out. We shall see how tomorrow shapes up. We also have a family zoom call at 8:15, so tomorrow will be one of those hyper-scheduled Sundays.

Morning all. I'm glad so far that I don't have snarky daughters. My own is too far away to become snarky and ddil is too sweet and learning confidence to be snarky. She's very outspoken when she's comfortable but very self conscious. Absolutely precious girls they both are. And a mama heart is thrilled if they lived a little closer I think they would be best friends

. So far anyway.
We slept in. 630. Guess we needed it. And then promptly went out and poured water on the baby perrenial plants. - 3c again this morning. Tomorrow is supposed to again. But then I think it's supposed to get better. I think I might do the pots today but be prepared to bring them in for the night. I'm already trying to resist going and getting new bleeding heart. Hopefully the bee balm will be ok too. They did not agree with last weekend frost. But I spent enough already and I still need soil...
It's almost 8 already. Breakfast. Some inside work. Plant some herb seeds in pots. And my exploding coleus. Then go get some soil. Dh is going to church at 1 to set up sound stuff again. Maybe I will go play that new keyboard. And then the kids are coming for supper.
Oh and I should get the tile entry corner redone. Ds did start his online summer math. Foundations and precalc 10. I think he's going to excel at their teaching style. Need to dig the desk out of dd room and make him a desktop space.
Full day of probably more than I can do.
Start laundry
Shower
S&s both baths
Tidy Master bedroom and laundry room
Tidy kitchen all the way
Make something for breakfast
Sweep everywhere and spot mop
