Oh, Harriet! I'm sorry I didn't get in before you went to bed --

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Maybe my late wishes will just help you celebrate a little longer.
DGD and I have had a pretty good day. She helped me get the garbage together and take it to the road, AND we decluttered one part of the cabinet where coloring books/etc are stored. Threw out a pretty good pile of papers and misc stuff there. (Kept too much, but I was letting her decide what to keep and what to throw away.) We still need to go through the coloring books, which date back to ds's childhood.
I have noticed that she and dgs are getting a little bit better about putting dirty dishes in the sink and trash in the trash can. JUST a LITTLE bit, but progress is progress, right?
We have laughed about a little child in church -- probably two years old, maybe less than that -- the grandson of some dear friends. When the second hymn ended, he cried out, "YAY!!!" and clapped his hands! Everyone laughed and the pastor agreed that was a very fitting response! DGD thought it was hilarious and she has replayed the sermon on YouTube, just to listen to him.
OTOH, it was our music director/youth minister's last Sunday, and after dgs presented her with a gift from the church (and walked away, oblivious to the fact that she was reaching out to hug him

) then dgd burst into tears and cried all morning. She isn't even in the youth class yet! I don't know why she has gotten so emotional lately -- except, she did start her period today, so that is probably it.
She is showered and in bed now...
the kitchen is S/S...
there are clean clothes for her tomorrow...
I have filled out my planner, printed my checklist for June, and written ds a check for the rent from our renter...
and I have talked to ds, who got home some time ago. Wednesday he has to leave at 2:00 a.m. and will be gone
seven days. At least one of the dgrands will be with me every night except Tuesday this week, until Tuesday next week. DDIL is taking dgd to the eye doctor Wed. morning and she will drop off dgs at football practice. I will have to pick him up at 10:00 a.m.
Thursday I will take dgd to "Camp Hope," which is sponsored by Hospice. It is a one day event with lots of activities, which is supposed to help children (ages 5-12, I think) deal with their emotions after losing a loved one. I worry that it may be too sad, but she and dgs both agreed that the fun outweighs the sad. This is dgd's third year to go, and I asked her if she wanted to go again, since dgs was too old to attend. She immediately said YES, she wanted to go MORE since he would not be there to "annoy" her! I also made sure she knew that dsisil would not be helping this year and she said she didn't mind that either. So I guess it is a good thing (the camp, I mean). Dsisil used to work for Hospice and she introduced them to Camp Hope the first year after dh passed away. They have some overall theme for each year -- the first year it was baseball, last year a luau, and this year it is golf -- "Teeing off for Thirty." It is this Hospice's 30th anniversary in Next Town. They'll get a t-shirt, all kinds of crafts, and the cattlemen's association grills hamburgers and hotdogs. Some years they have a petting zoo. Last year, dgd won a balloon animal that was as big as she was! Each child has a "buddy" (an adult or older teen) that accompanies them through all the activities and helps them with anything they need -- and she and dgs have never been in the same groups anyway so I don't know why she doesn't want him around. SMH. She is just at that stage that most of the time, she really doesn't want him on the same planet with her.
Well, I better sign off -- she'll be waking me up early tomorrow.
