Harriet, it does seem that everything comes at once, doesn't it? I definitely want to keep my Tahoe going -- it's paid for, and I know the next one is going to cost a fortune. I do plan to follow my tax man's advice, however, and buy one that is a couple years old when I do get ready to replace this one. DH just always wanted to buy a brand new vehicle, but tax man pointed out that used and "certified" at the dealership would have a good warranty and would be different from buying "someone else's problem" as dh always suspected used vehicles.

I am worn out. Dmom and I attended both funerals, without rushing around too much. Daunt went to the first one with us and we saw some of our cousins there, then we got to the second one and had plenty of time to visit with our friends. I am so glad we went to that one! This lady was 77, but had been in the nursing home for the last few years, her husband had died several years ago, and they had no children except the two step-children I've mentioned. There were VERY few people there -- maybe enough to fill three rows of the funeral home chapel, plus the family. I think she had a sister and a sister-in-law there. Only three flower arrangements, counting the blanket on the casket. It was just sad.

I came home, forgot I had to go to the grocery store so turned around and went back, (rolls and tea for tomorrow), got a pizza at the gas station for supper tonight and tomorrow, ate, and fell asleep.
Just now, realized the heat unit in the west end of my house was not working and it was HOT in that part. Called the AC man, but realized while on the phone with him that the thermostat said "replace batteries." So -- out again, and at least it is running now. I'll check to see if it is cooling in a minute. He told me to give it about ten minutes to re-set.

LadyM -- looks like my family is approaching Twins' area now. They will be home probably around 2:00 a.m. I convinced dmom that we should probably just take tomorrow off and do as ddil said, celebrate the 4th on the 5th. After three busy days, I think dmom was fine with that.

OH! My daunt said she knew the lady she talked to when the bank called. I said, "And they didn't ask you to verify your account number or anything?" Daunt said, "Wouldn't have done any good, I don't even know my account number!" LOL. So we didn't go to her bank since she seemed confident she was talking to a person she recognized.

*** Are any of you following Kelsey, who is rowing from CA to Hawaii??? She is on track to arrive tonight -- 11:00 pm HA time -- and will be setting the fastest time for men AND women, and also the youngest person, and the first American to do this! She has taken about 43-44 days to do this, in just a small rowboat. It's amazing. Look her up on Facebook, You Row Kelsey.

*** Another question -- do any of you use Consumer Cellular? I updated dmom's account today, and it would only cost $15 to add a line to her plan. That is in comparison to the $97 I am paying AT&T. I'm going to look into this more closely. Her total bill is less than $40, so if I added 15 and just split it with her, I'd still come out ahead!

Hopefully my night sleep will be better than last night. DS17 & Financee16 didn't reach their destination until 1:23am. He kept calling me with updates, so I was up for half the night with them. Her grandparents are super excited about the visit and had everything ready for their arrival. They are having Financee16 sleep in the house while DS17 is sleeping in their RV. Their ranch is near the McDonald Observatory which was built in that location because it has some of the darkest night skies in USA. If you love to be remote & darkness, then this is a perfect location. Those qualities are available to the extreme.

I've recovered from getting over heated and have a new appreciation of how quickly it can happen.

Ugh. I just remembered our town 4th July celebration happens tonight. It starts at dusk with their firework display usually lasting about an hour, but then personal fireworks displays take over and go on for hours so it will be noisy. Sam usually sleeps in DS17 bedroom, but I don't want him to be alone with all the firework noise happening. I'll put Sam with us tonight.

My group just got home! DGS said, "I'll call you in the morning." I said, "Not REAL early in the morning." He said, "I'll call you about twelve."
They were saying they didn't have any clean clothes because they needed to do laundry, so I told them I had clothes they could wear, but I didn't have any shorts for dgd -- she'll have to find something at home. LOL. It's good to know they're back safe and sound.

Have any of you tried the Creamy Coconut Dr Pepper? DH would have probably gotten sick just at the thought of it -- LOL -- he hated coconut AND Dr Pepper. But I love both, so I tried it, although I was a little scared to. It does not have a strong cream OR coconut flavor. Just a hint of difference compared to regular Dr Pepper.

Nancy, I know very little about the rules of football (soccer), as I'm not a sporty person, but having grown up in the UK I have absorbed some information (possibly by some.form.of osmosis?) so I do know a little about penalty shoot-outs.

A penalty shoot-out is a tie-breaking method to determine which team is the winner in a match where, after normal time and extra time have been played, the score is still tied. This can be because both teams have scored the same number of goals ( eg 2:2) or where no one has scored (0:0). In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at the goal from the penalty mark on the pitch, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots, which must be taken by different players. The winner is the team that makes more successful kicks, and the penalty shoot-out finishes as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are still level after five pairs of shots, the penalty shoot-out progresses into additional "sudden-death" rounds. ( This whole process is either extremely edge-of-the-seat exciting, or extremely.boring, depending on your viewpoint! )

Lucy L. DD had that cellular co. called inland cellular here and it was awful and she had to change co.
bc it was so bad. So I would ask people in your area that question not sure if it is they same one or not.
It may have improved.

I hear that dish co. is on the verge of bankruptcy. Glad I do not have that.
