The table is all put together, and standing on the floor. The choice to assemble the heavy parts was inspired. Instead of lifting 30 lbs and trying to flip it and set it gently down, I did a controlled fall from the bed. I will, of course, have to change the duvet cover when my joints are back on speaking terms with me, but it's worth it. In the meantime, I am enjoying a break to eat breakfast.

I have Three Bags Full on request from the library, helia, but it's going to be a wait for it. That's why I went ahead and tried another book from the same author, and I can confirm that this book is also fun.
helia, my solution is usually to bring a ridiculous amount of extra clothing and other things with me, so no helpful packing hints from this quarter. ;)

Your lunch sounds mouthwatering, Kittykatt. :)
LOL, I'm happy to share info about the table. Okey, you know those big office desks that are L-shaped? I achieved that function with available materials. What would be the main part of the desk is a 4-foot wire shelving unit on wheels, perpendicular to the wall with its back against Germane's pen. I set the shelves so that the bottom one can be a foot rest and holds the printer, the computer, a box that functions as a paper organizer, etc. The L part is my original table, against the wall. That table is nice and stable, and has a flip top and adjustable legs so that it can smaller to take less space or full, to give more work surface. It has always been persnickety to fold/unfold and to move legs around. The new table will fit my needs better. Because the top is in 3 parts, I have the option of folding both leaves down and just having a narrow strip against the wall, or to fold out one leaf which will take up a bit less space than my current configuration, which is better for me. The supports glide like a dream, so it's going to be much easier to change the configuration to suit my needs of the moment. The disadvantages of the new table don't really affect me: because the supports are hollow metal and on wheels, it's quite top heavy. The safety warnings say not leave young children alone with the table. I can see why, but can you imagine a young family buying this table and then reading that? The other warning is not to let the table top get wet, and to wipe it off immediately if it does. Again, I can see why: the table top is particle board. It is a cheaper table than the one I currently use, but it meets my needs better and I can work around its shortcomings.
The one thing that it has made me rethink is that I don't want to get rid of my stable table completely. Instead, I'll clear out the stuff under the kitchen pass through and move the old table under it. The height difference will be enough that I can use it as a console table, and if I need a stable surface I can fold it out. I won't be able to access it while the big laundry rack is up, but that's the trade off of living in a small space.

It is wise to have a backup plan, L.Ann.

Joining our reading club:)
Back from a lot of running around... Finally, Air Quality is at Low Risk - I will open windows!
Went to a local market with DDIL , Dson and DGkids. Prior to that, I walked to the bakery, and the Italian shop with the best pizza dough, sauce and fresh pasta. (Did I mention, I'll have DGkids next week for Grammy camp ... 2 - 3 /day.)
On our way home, I picked up my hold from the library.

Had a crazy adventure during our walk with DDog: a lady brought her dog up close while she was doing her business...
When I said she'd react, she told me that was OK. Of course, she reacted. I was shaking by the time we were done... We were on a busy street - I was concerned about cars if either dog moved off the sidewalk. I just don't understand people.

FFly - yes, Whistler is the latest by Ann Patchett.
trissie
nice to see you back:)
You asked: the fires are quite far up north...
Dogged I hope the table is safe for you!
Kittykatt WTG on Freddie's nails!
(I'd find that challenging)
LAnn sounds like you really thought about everything with that menu...
helia when is your next trip?

No Bama , Gma sighting?
Did I miss anyone?

I need to head downstairs - just waiting for the heating pad to work...

put away random piles of clean laundry

WTG on getting all of those errands done, kitkat.
That must have been so frustrating, with all of the training that you do, to have a stupid owner bring her dog so close. I'm glad that no one was hurt.

I have not been productive since the table accomplishment. I really should get into the shower and reboot.

Doggedly, congrats on putting the table together!
helia, pakcing to go anywhere is always quite a challenge. Almost a reason I consider staying home.
kittykatt, I may think about going to the library ans seeing what they ahve by Jane Austen.
kitkat, better air quality is good.
l.ann, you put together interesting menus
trissie, welcome back to the home/ work ratrace. Congrats on getting new IKEA beds.

My brother left this morning. It's been such a full week. And there's much to do - he did things I could not, but there are many "leftovers" withing my skillset. I took the day off, and had a short Sunday afternoon nap.
My son and his family woke me; Grandson is 1 of 5 students renting an 1880s house in Duluth. He needs some furniture.... So he came to see what interested him. There are a couple things at my house he wants to look at as well. Then he will choose.
Monday I need to be doing a few things for dfBS.
one of my best friends notified me this morning that her mother died last night - funeral is Friday (I was planning to go to my cabin, then a quilt auction - but plans have to change. :( No wonder I don't do well with planning a real vacation...) This death is a relief for the family - Alzheimers deterioration for several months, but I guess the last couple days were prolonged difficult respiratory plus she had fallen and broken a hip so there was pain with movement.

Well, I might check out that Leonie Swann book, Doggedly. Or the first one. I see that Agnes Sharp is a trilogy. WTG on getting the table put together!!
Gma, I do dream of a staycation some day! I will need a vacation from my vacation when we get back. However, real vacations are very important to dh, and I do enjoy getting to see interesting places (and also dh's family - this trip is also to visit family), so I can't complain too much! We'll also take time to chill and hang out in coffee shops or parks. Getting out the door is the hardest part. I'm sorry about your friend's mother. That sounds like a difficult end.
Kitkat, dh and I are discussing leaving the windows open tonight, as we typically do. Our AQI is around 100 -- not the best but OK enough, we think. Ugh - that is a clueless dog owner. I'm glad no one got hurt. I haven't seen Bama for a while. I was thinking about her today and wondering how her dh is doing.
Kitty, your Sunday lunch menu never disappoints! So amazing! Glad Freddie's nails are done. Bribing him is a smart ploy!
And. . . did DD33 like the shakshuka with lentils, L Ann?

I'm heading to bed. Tomorrow will be a full day.

Next:
- update MFP
- get ready for bed

Not done - it's OK.
- make bed
- payroll: exam prep - 1 exam ready for review (LH's class) - wip
- graduation card + check for AR ready for the mail
- make a master list of todos before we leave on vacation - may do next week; it would be overwhelming today
- make a packing list - it's a complicated trip: hiking in high Alps (up to 33255 meters) - cold and need certain gear; Avignon and Barcelona - hot, city wear, evening outfits, comfy walking shoes and swimwear? - do later

TaDas!
- up; weighed self - still high
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website + AQI websites
- finished unpacking bag (from weekend trip)
- s2s and self care
- 10-12 church and chats afterward
- home; changed into exercise clothes
- lunch
- kitchen cleaned up
- gathered stuff
- took one of my diamox pills -- to test it for side effects; none other than needing to go to the bathroom more often. . . Though when I take it in the mountains, it will be accumulating in my system
- coffee shop; met up with dh, dd30, M, and dd28! It was a coffee shop party!
- made lists for the week
- payroll: prepped tutorial - minus reading comprehension Qs
- payroll: prepped AAS D8
- gym: stair master -- but only for 19 minutes because they were closing. I was able to get in 53 floors. . . I did it a little faster
- home; helped dh get dinner: scrambled eggs and toast; we ate baby carrots and hummus as a veggie appetizer
- dinner with dh - on the patio; we decided the air quality was good enough (low 100s)
- after dinner clean up
- payroll: printed out a couple things
- updated WW
- duolingo

Misc tidying
Violated Safety Rule # 2 and washed the new table
Showered/washed hair
Treats/food for Germane
Probiotic for Germane

I'm slowing down. I need to change the duvet cover for my comforter after lying furniture across the bed, I'd like to cook some pasta for supper and I really should wash some dishes before bed. I probably won't get much more than that done.

I actually don't own a fly swatter, Gma. I live on the 4th floor, so I don't often see a swattable fly in the apartment. I guess I'll have to go to the dollar store and see if they have a flyswatter in stock. I am normally pretty tolerant of other life forms, but Flybert is like a toddler constantly tugging at you and going "Mom! Mom! MOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
