Hello, everyone!
FFB, how lovely to have fresh home grown potatoes. And plums as well, I see!
Trissie, I did look at Steven Spielberg for today, but time was tight this morning, and he is sooo prolific - I didn't want to have just a very long list of films that everyone would get bored reading about, and didn't have the time to just highlight my favourites. Still, as you say, there'll always be another time!
Helia, I agree with everyone else that the "weight gain" is probably water retention, and you haven't suddenly gained weight overnight. Today's menu was roast chicken, roast potatoes, gravy, tenderstem broccoli, carrots and sugar snap peas, followed by lemon curd fool with blueberries, frosted grapes and cream.
KitKat, pancakes sound delicious - I'm sure the DGkids will enjoy them.
L.Ann, Little Bit certainly has a full itinerary for next week!
Well, we did have some rain this morning, but it amounted to about 20 minutes of light drizzle -very far from the torrential downpours we had been forecast! Church was good, despite low numbers - I think many people are currently on holiday. DF E was in very good form today,.which was encouraging.
We've had lunch, Freddie has been for a walk, the laundry is folded and PA, and I'm now relaxing with Matilda on my lap.

Re: Susan Seidelman Sunday
Thanks for your kind comments about my frustrations. It's nice to have a place where I can just write out what I feel, even if it may not make sense. I'm going to go with the retained water theory and try to drink a lot of water for the next couple of days as L Ann suggested. I'm also going to track the best I can (2 upcoming restaurant meals - harder to track). Also, my lower weight yesterday was actually a drop of 0.8 lb. overnight -- so it's possible that drop wasn't real either. . . . I just feel very stuck.
That's such a great model, trissie. Also a great use of AI! Have fun at the BBQ!
FFB, dh and I have just discovered that Avignon, France, our destination in France after the hut tour, has moderate-poor air quality. Dh thinks there are fires not too far from it. LOL! I do NOT have big and powerful muscles. I did the stair climb very slowly - and it was on a machine (stair master) so probably easier than in real life. The real life trail might be steeper in spots and uneven -- BUT it will be a lot more beautiful and I'll have wonderful company along the way.
L Ann, if you figure out how to get unstuck, please let me know! You do have quite the busy week with Little Bit!
Kitty, what are frosted grapes? I hope you can relax this afternoon.
Next:
- after lunch clean up
- take phone to Verizon dealer - around the corner

- REI - rain pants?
- dinner with dh - something lo-cal
- after dinner clean up
- 8:15 family zoom call
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP
TaDas!
- up; weighed self
- coffee
- weather websites and email deletions
- ordered a new passport carrier (under clothes - I don't carry a purse in Europe and my old under clothes passport carrier isn't so convenient; new one has RFID blocking -- is that really necessary?) + ankle socks for the shoes I hope to wear when walking in the cities
- reclaimed kitchen
- s2s and self care
- made the bed
- ordered more blush - I had ordered the wrong color earlier
- church
- no coffee -- but chats afterward
- home; dh showed me his backpack packing progress + my pile; I used the scale and weighed several items -
added to my backpack pile: Teva sandals (to wear in the hut), ear plugs, pillow case, and sheet liner

Re: Susan Seidelman Sunday
Today I started a battle with software. I bought a new package of McAfee as my old subscription had expired, and McAfee really, really wants to force auto renewal so that they can charge you 3 times the price that BestBuy charges. I am trying to decide whether to ramp up the fight to fight it out with McAfee customer service, or to just shrug off the initial modest purchase price and go with BitDefender instead. So that's been my day so far.
I'm glad that you got a relaxing day yesterday too. You don't get many of them!
We still have last year's sad stored potatoes in the stores, so I envy you your own home grown potatoes. I'll bet that they taste wonderful!
You make a good point about the threat that the fires pose in Europe, kitkat. I hope that our dfs all stay safe.
That brings me to the end of Page 1, so I should walk away from both computers and get something to eat. Germane did emerge long enough to get her heart pill and peanut butter earlier, so she can also have breakfast if she feels like it.
Sunday
Put on a pot of coffee
Heart pill for dog
Fired up the Windows laptop, which has been shut down since the antivirus expired
Brought up the new antivirus licence that I bought.
Activated it: this really is the last time that Iβm going to use McAfee. Itβs forcing me to agree to auto renewal in order to activate the package that I have already bought for less than β of the price of the renewal.
Started uninstalling McAfee so that I can do a clean install
Computer froze
Linux computer is slow
Booted both computers
Uninstalled McAfee
Booted computer
Checked that McAfee is uninstalled
Started looking for the download to reinstall it
Opened password manager to log into McAfee
McAfee is forcing a password change
Changed password
Logged it in password manager that is tied to McAfee subscription
Opened my permanent password manager
Logged the password change there
Turned off the autorenewal so that I donβt forget and get charged a whopping renewal charge instead of buying antivirus when this expires
Went around and around in circles until it became clear that McAfee changed my expiry date for the new subscription that I just paid for, to the end of today.
Tried to turn auto-renewal back on in order to get the software installed: McAfee wants to charge me $129 to turn it back on, on top of the $33 package price that I already paid for the year.
At this point, Iβm so mad that Iβm prepared to throw away the $33 I already paid, and buy BitDefender for $33. Iβll still be better off than dealing with McAfee. Iβll be sorry to let go of TrueKey, which is tied to the McAfee subscription
Checked out BitDefender on BestBuy. Got stuck between two options that look identical and are the same price, but one is at its normal price and the other is 50% off. Went back and forth trying to work out the difference. Finally opened two tabs and proofread them one word at a time. Finally spotted that one is a digital download and the other is the physical package.
Checked the auto renew function with BitDefender. They are going in that direction too, but their customer support confirms that you still get your protection if you turn off auto renewal.
Went to McAfee customer support bot and it confirms that they should not have expired my product, and gave me instructions on dealing with the customer support dept to get it corrected.
I had to think about this, trissie, because I had a very relaxed day yesterday. But I realized that I washed my hair before going to bed, so I don't have to spend today dodging that one, LOL.trissie wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2026 4:06 am b]Dogged[/b], so what nice things did you do for future-you that you can reap today?![]()

Not this time, FrenchFly. I just woke up in the night and got my two cents in before I went back to sleep, LOL. It's a way for me to participate while our EuroSHEs are active.FrenchFlybebe wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2026 6:10 am Doggedly I'm not sure about the time difference but maybe you've made a start on your Sunday's list of ta-das before bed ?

Re: Susan Seidelman Sunday
Okey, I'm sitting down for breakfast.
Things to focus on:
I want to sit outside and read for a bit, and I have to bring in the laundry before the rain starts.
That means that I have to deal with the small drying rack, that is blocking my access to the patio door.

Re: Susan Seidelman Sunday
Back from the Verizon store - with a new phone! It was very quick and easy. I should do this more often. And the new phone is nice!
It's been 6.5 years since I got one, apparently.
And my new walking shoes are quite comfortable! Yay!
It's so hard isn't it, L Ann.
I wonder which antivirus software you'll go with, Doggedly. Does Germane have an opinion? I have Norton, which seems fine.
I think I'm going to find out which coffee shop dh is at and join him. I have some payroll I'd like to get done.
Next:
- find out where dh is
- join dh
- payroll: edits for AIR Exam
Later:
- work on my lists
- walk - test my new walking shoes which I forgot to do earlier
- make a detailed packing list
- payroll: prep tutorial for M
- payroll: S7 COs X4
- payroll: edits to AIR exam
- payroll: practice test activities for AAS
- payroll: prep AAS D11
- update gradelink
- WF - I need more fresh blueberries for my yogurt?
- REI - rain pants?
- dinner with dh - something lo-cal
- after dinner clean up
- 8:15 family zoom call
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP
TaDas!
- up; weighed self
- coffee
- weather websites and email deletions
- ordered a new passport carrier (under clothes - I don't carry a purse in Europe and my old under clothes passport carrier isn't so convenient; new one has RFID blocking -- is that really necessary?) + ankle socks for the shoes I hope to wear when walking in the cities
- reclaimed kitchen
- s2s and self care
- made the bed
- ordered more blush - I had ordered the wrong color earlier
- church
- no coffee -- but chats afterward
- home; dh showed me his backpack packing progress + my pile; I used the scale and weighed several items -
added to my backpack pile: Teva sandals (to wear in the hut), ear plugs, pillow case, and sheet liner
- lunch
- after lunch clean up
- take phone to Verizon dealer - around the corner

Re: Susan Seidelman Sunday
If anyone can vanquish McAffee and beat it into submission, that person is you, Dogged!
Helia, frosted grapes are just regular green grapes, dipped in egg white and then dipped in caster sugar ,.and left to dry on baking parchment. Once dry, the sugar sparkles, hence "frosted".
I'm nearly done for the day. I've had some more time in my garden, some lap time with Jude, and all the cats have been fed (our gang and Mica). Next,.I need to tick off what I've done, and then to write my list for the week.
