Handy beats any fancy features in a vacuum. I treated myself to a combo vacuum/floor washer because that seemed so handy for a pet owner with hardwood floors. It was on a great sale that brought it down into my price range. I should have downloaded the owners manual and read it before buying it, as it has a million bits that have to be taken apart and cleaned and then set out to dry in my very limited space. And it has to be done after every use. So needless to day, it never gets used.
Stick vacuums don't work out very well for me as I have a crowded apartment with stuff to clean under in every direction. I'm embarrassed to say that what works great for me is the Swiffer. It gets under everything, and I can put reusable covers on to wipe down the walls.

Library and bakery sounds like a nice outing with the girls, kitkat. :)

trissie, you make me think of Cinderella separating the grains that her stepmother threw on the floor, to have an excuse to keep her from the ball. You don't have any friendly mice that can help you out, do you? ;)

Art garden sounds fun too, L.Ann.

Wednesday

Breakfast: tested out the tomato-based yogurt dip on naan bread and cucumber: success
Put away dry laundry
Put away dry dishes

poor Germane, and poor Doggedly too! some days are better, and some worse, than others.
trissie, I remember the days of sending just 1 off to camp and how much work it was to get ready. It's probably good that the twins want to start establishing their own identities such as going to camp different weeks.
kittykatt, Mica is blessed to have you looking out for her welfare.
hi to laurlind, kitkat, l.ann.
harriet was here too - was that yesterday?

I did get up very early this morning, and made a breakfast casserole with hashbrowns for my "kids" who drove 90 minutes to get to a zoo today. I thought about going back to bed when they left, but after I did the dishes, I took out 1 drawer at mother's house. 2 1/2 hours later, I wasn't done, but I had reached my limit, and decided to stop.
Besides, I had an appointment at the funeral home, to pick up ashes and death certificates.
Then I went to dfBS house, got her husband's ashes and military flag, and now they are all together at the chaplain's office at the college where they will have their final resting place in a wall, after her funeral.
then to the bank with death certificate. Apparently her brother has hired an attorney to do the work needed. He will find out how much I have saved over time! Before she died, she got a bill for something I couldn't do. I think it was $160 an hour for a simple name change on a form naming the administrator after she dies. Of course, he had to drive 15 miles each way to visit her in the hospital to verify that she was alert and oriented, and really understood what she meant to do. That's important too, and something I did with her regularly to make sure that she understood the ramifications of her decisions. Or sometimes she just didn't want to know.
I've got an hour before the "kids" come back. I feel like June Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver, a TV show in America in the late 1950s, early 60s

I see that L.Ann is making short work of her list. :)

You are so right, Gma. Germane is better today. I was able to take her out for a nice leisurely walk, which we have just come back from. And speaking of one day being better than another, I'm glad that they got your drain fixed.

Yes, I too am so glad that all the drains got cleared and the sewer line is working well.
And I am happy to hear that Germane had a good day - really goo if she actually went for a walk instead of a carry!
I went for a mile walk and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the prairie.
I offered the girls each a doll from my mother's collection. They were delighted! So am I - My sister said she counted 60+ when she was here in June. One of the boys has a girlfriend. He took one also, for her ♥
Tomorrow morning is blueberry pancakes. The "kids" bought some thin sliced turkey bacon. And there's a bag of mini breakfast sausages in the freezer that my brother bought. The vegetarian said she doesn't need any, but if I wake up early, I will go check the Food Co-op to see if they have anything suitable. I don't like either of the meat choices, and just the pancakes are plenty good enough for me.
And early to bed tonight, after a week of not quite enough sleep each night. (tired enough to be rambling... even tho it's before midnight)
g'night.
