what a day!
It is ending well so I'm just counting my blessings and trying to let all the bazillion emotions go.

** DD50 had surgery this morning with surgeon unsure if it could be done, but there wasn't much choice if DD50 wanted any type of normal life. The surgeon said it was successful.

** First day of school. Part of this first school day is voting for class officers and who is king/queen of the class for the parade. Apparently, some "mean boys" (the term the principal used) started snickering when DD15 got nominated as queen of the class for the parade. It embarrassed DD15 & made her cry. Her name was withdraw from the nomination. Tonight DD15 told the principal these same boys make fun of the other autistic boy in their class. This principal is fierce to protect and determined to get this type of behavior stopped. The principal hugged DD15 and held DD15 face in her hands as looked into her eyes and told DD15 to not listen to them. She explained this was DD15 school home and those mean boys was NOT going to ruin it for her. Two of DD15 teachers have reached out to me this evening showing their support for DD15 and determined to protect her.

** DS18 got hit by ANOTHER deer. While driving down the road, the deer came out of trees running full speed and slammed into the side of the new pickup. At least it didn't do as much damage as first deer, but it did break the door handle and the door won't open now. This pickup is 8 months old and this is the third accident it has been involved in.

** DH is slowing down in his walking. When we go in public places now, I need to hold his hand to keep him moving forward. He will talk to complete strangers as if they are his best friend. He goes to bed at 7pm now. Sundowners is real. Little by little he is changing almost on a daily basis. It makes me sad to be slowly losing my best friend and husband.

I have been doing really well with my eating choices and taking care of myself. My energy level has been increasing and I'm staying on top of caring for our home while juggling everything else. I don't want to get overwhelmed and lose focus on taking care of myself.

((((Cathy))))

thank you d harriet - you made me feel great about this - I found out that the biopsies before showed that I had nodules but were benign - I will have the biopsy in a couple weeks - thank you thank you thank you. I never thought much about the biopsies before (I have had 3 - first one was around 17) but no one mentioned nodules. My reg. dr. made it sound like this was different but the ent said the nodules are almost the same size.

thank you for sharing about your biopsy!!!

it is better to get it tested . I love that your d mil "continues to be a powerhouse."

poor mom threw up all over - poor thing. she was coughing and she got sick. I don't think she digested anything today. so happy she wasn't laying down. I washed her down and washed down her wheel chair- etc. She is now watching murder she wrote.
always a good one.

thinking of all of you! wishing you the best!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Mystery
, I saw your post and told myself I'd get back to it. The Daily Dozen is a sort of invention of Dr. Michael Greger, to "check off" 12 healthy daily habits that research shows can meet needs where we often fall short: your water in 5 parts, 3 servings each of grains, beans, fruits, 2 each of greens and other veg, 1 each of berries, cruciferous, flaxseed, spice, nuts and exercise. It totals 24. There are "tweaks" for folks who really like to get into the weeds of perfection, but my brain doesn't want to (smile). There's an app, some online printed forms fans have created specifically for it, but I've found ordinary printable circular month trackers with 12 spaces are easier. (the one I use wasn't easily findable anymore - it has 31 days available and no cutesy leaves within it, lol, but otherwise very like this one. I may look a little longer for mine - I didn't know it was so nice, lol.)

oh, ((blessed and dmother)).
I think the reassuring tv shows are stronger centering helps than we may realize.
lucylee was mentioning even Death Valley Days lately.

Well, I missed a lot yesterday! Happy belated birthday wishes to LadyM's ds18! And (((BIG HUGS))) to dd15 after such a miserable first day of school!
That was really nice of the principal and the teachers to contact her and show their support. And obviously she has a lot of peer support or she wouldn't have been nominated in the first place!
I'm so glad your dd's surgery went well, too.
Also... (((BIG, BIG HUGS))) to you, LadyM. I think maybe the only thing harder than losing one's husband and best friend suddenly is to lose them slowly.
You have a lot on your plate. I'm glad ds18 isn't moving out immediately.

(((Blessed))) Oh my goodness... cleaning up after a throwing up episode is just out of my skill set. I guess if I am the only person there to do it, I would have to do it, but I am in awe of people like yourself, and my ddil and other nurses and caregivers... I am just so afraid that someday I will be the only person my dmom can depend on and that I will not be adequate to the task.
I probably shouldn't say that even... but dmom herself knows I have an extremely weak stomach.

I read a FB post about McDonald's and now I can't eat there any more.

:) My current reassuring tv shows are The Virginian and Tales of Wells Fargo. I still have a slight crush on Dale Robertson and I wish my father had been more like Henry Garth. Shows like this are very calming because, generally speaking, good is rewarded and evil is punished, and everything turns out all right in the end.

(((Cathy))) and (((Nancy))) with weather -- and fire -- troubles nearby.

(((Twins))) -- hope your knee feels better soon!

DGD spent the night again last night. We slept late and then went out for breakfast -- lunch, really. She wasn't ready to go home at that time, but an hour or so later, she was, so I took her home and then I came back and thought about all the stuff I needed to do here... and then took a LONG nap. I never did any of the things I had on my list.
I did go out and trim some branches off a walnut tree. These branches were almost touching the ground, and I suspect they are in the way of the man mowing.
Also got some good news the other day -- I have a chain link fence that has been in drastic need of repair for YEARS. Ddad used to fuss about it. Of course, he never offered to pay to repair it or take it down, LOL. So it has been falling down for quite a while. Ddad has been dead 13 years. Anyway -- a cousin told me that a man who works with her dh would like to have the fencing, and he will take it down for free! He needs a large fenced in area for three Great Danes who are currently inside his house while he works during the day! I am THRILLED. This will leave a barbed wire fence around the side and front of my house, but while he is here, I am going to ask him what he will charge to take down that fence also -- IF he can find anyone who might need the wire, or if he will haul it away for me. I know I don't need a large amount of barbed wire lying around my yard -- but maybe someone will take it also.

DS reports that dgs is excited about high school -- he has made a map of the building and marked all his classes. From his English class to his science class he has to go the entire length of the building, but they have 5 minutes between classes, so maybe he will manage. I don't think I know any of his teachers, but he knows all the coaches already and he has never had a teacher he didn't like, so I am sure he'll be fine. DS has also watched some of the football practices and has been impressed with how encouraging the coaches and other players have been -- ds says it is just an entirely different culture than what he (ds) experienced when he was in high school.
It is so hard to watch dgs growing up so quickly -- but it is fun to see him doing well in new experiences, also.
Same with dgd. This will be a big year for both of them -- his first year in high school, her first year in middle school. She will meet her teachers Monday night. The first day of school for both of them will be Wednesday.
Tomorrow is another day.
