Someone hit a BEAR a few miles from me last week! We had a bear somewhere in the county last year too. It's not unheard of, but it is certainly unusual. I have never seen one, of course. I'd like to see one -- but not too close up! People say we have mountain lions, but I've never seen one of them,either.
I do see deer fairly often here close to my house.
CostumeLady, it certainly seems that you would be the obvious choice for the children's department. I don't know what goes on sometimes in these committee meetings.

Twins -- I think I know where you are talking about on the river. I've never been there on a boat (it was always my dad's dream to take a trip up the TN River to Knoxville for a ballgame, but we never did that.) But I have driven through as you go across the state line from AL to TN into Chattanooga, and I always say that is the prettiest spot I've ever seen on the river, with the mountains surrounding it.
DH's ancestors came from North Georgia through that part of the state, and I told dh, if I had been the mother on that trip, I would have said STOP when we got to the river, and said this is IT. We are going no further. This is perfect.
My birthday was somewhat disheartening by our football team losing big time to our biggest county rival. We lost 48-18. Then yesterday, I had that fiasco with dmom's Corvette, and that was troublesome. (See my last entry yesterday if you have not read it yet.) However, the dgrands were good and we had a nice time playing jeopardy last night.
They went home fairly early today.
I made the mistake of telling my dsisil that dmom's "handyman/yard man" wants the Corvette and is willing to pay all he can and work off the rest of it. Dsisil says that is NOT a good idea at all. Dmom is going to call her friend who owns the Chevrolet dealership in Next Town, and see what a good, reasonable price would be -- so MAYBE she will not just let this guy take advantage of her. She is pretty soft-hearted. But I am definitely ready for her to sell it. That ship has sailed, as far as ME wanting a sports car. I am not about to take on the upkeep and cost of a 26 year old Corvette. I have learned my lesson.
I've got to go get in the shower, wash my hair, and shave my legs. And put on self-tanner. It is still in the 90s here and I am not wearing jeans to the ballgame tomorrow night! Everytime I've been out this weekend, I have just felt like I was dripping in sweat!
