It has been cloudy, windy and in the teens today. I could not bring myself to move anything, although I do need to go to the new house and vaccum later, since the carpet will be cleaned tomorrow.

Talked to the mover and it is scheduled for the 16th.

Had a dr. appt. this am. I ended up having to have blood drawn again for my A1C because of a computer problem, they ended up losing it somehow???? My blood pressure was up, still at the high end of acceptable. He told me it could be because the move.

Dh home, need to go.

Boy. I don't know if it was marvelous or not! This afternoon, we received maybe fifteen jillion phone calls and interruptions, etc. while we were trying to get to W*lmart & then before dh could get away to deliver purchases to dmil. Plus it was POURING down rain all afternoon. I don't know what I'd do if dh didn't help out with the groceries. It takes me ten times as long when I go alone.

FINALLY...
* groceries are bought & put away (thank you, dh)
* supper has been eaten
* I have talked to dmom on phone
* dniece has been put off till after her dance class, when she will return for me to proofread paper for her
* tickets have been ordered to two upcoming events (dh took care of one)
* mechanic friend has been talked to & paid
* stamps are on Christmas cards

I still need to
[ ] grade some papers
[ ] wrap ddad's present
[ ] exercise
[ ] do laundry
[ ] proofread dniece's paper

 I'm very guilty of staying on the phone too long. I wish I could break myself of that habit. I know dparents must hate to see my name on the caller ID.

(((Dee))) with ALL concerns for dgchildren

Glad to hear the book arrived, Harriet.

I just feel like I am running around with my hair on fire.
The last few weeks before a break at school are sooo chaotic. I am trying DESPERATELY to give two tests and show video of novel to two classes and EVERY DAY, it seems there is some crazy something interrupting my plans. This week, for example, I have students missing Wed. to work with Leo Club Sight Bus (partnering w/local Lions Club)... Thurs., I have students missing to go on field trip w/Beta Club... Fri., we will ALL be missing two classes to go to an intramural fundraiser ballgame... NEXT WEEK, Tues., we have an academic-sort of pep rally... Fri., semester exams begin... CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!

Glad I don't have to shovel snow. (((Elizabeth)))

Glad I don't have to go to the dentist. (((Kathryn)))

Waving to EVERYONE!!!
Tomorrow is another day.

Helped dh with the newsletters by putting the ones he did into envelopes and putting the address stickers and decorative stickers on them. He was working so fast, I could barely keep up. I tend to write personal notes to everyone (another variation of "Kathryn knows no short stories!")

I did cook dinner during that time as well. We ate out twice yesterday and are expecting to eat out tomorrow, so I squelched the temptation to eat out tonight as well.

Dh cleaned up and had his conference call. I watched the last of the 6 videos we had out from the store while printing off more newsletters. Don't know if I've done enough but I got another 17 done, plus 4 in large print version for the over 90s on our list. Updated Quicken while in front of the tv as well, and stopped the video to talk with my music friend.

She had good news today in that she doesn't have to have another kidney stone operation in the near future. She was convinced she was having surgery and now that her jaw replacement surgery (with a 3 month recovery time) is on the horizon she was trying to figure out if she had to have her other surgery before or if it could wait. The idea that she wasn't having surgery at all was not on her horizon.

Of course, the doctor said sometimes people forget the pain and aren't good about their diets so the stones grow more quickly than planned. This went right over her head. She has never believed that diet affected her stones so in the past 6 years of multiple surgeries, has never changed her diet. I reminded her that she should go online and find out what foods she should be eating. Of course, with the jaw in such bad shape, part of this is moot, since she can barely eat some of the time. But still, she should probably stop her 3 chai lattes a day habit.

I'm a bit grumpy because the call was all about her. She didn't even clue in when I said I was being referred to another dentist about my jaw. You'd think she would have something to say about that, but I honestly think she didn't comprehend what I was saying because it wasn't about her. </rant>

I'm off to bed in a few minutes. Tomorrow's another long day and I forgot to buy salad today so I don't have anything to take for my lunch at volunteering and won't have a car to get a meal, either. I guess I'll take cereal.

((Kathryn)) I can just imagine you with the phone, assuming she (of all people) heard you and would ask about your jaw! Maybe later what she heard will sink in. I'm glad for both friend and you as listener that one surgery is not happening.

Twins Mom, I suppose they have to keep following up, but somehow I feel you won't have to worry about this much longer. I'm sorry to hear about a new med - won't he/she consider letting you try further with diet?

Lilac, how in the world do they explain that? LOL. Well, I suppose your veins have nothing else to do. Didn't you have to fast again?

lucylee, although I was happy, as minutes clicked by and dusk would not be held back, I began to realize FedEx and my Christmas Card order were not going to be a part of my day. HRH kept my spirits up by saying he thinks they work until 7 sometimes, and it gets dark early now. But no. Another check online and the status was changed. If ever anyone orders Christmas cards, order them in October, because November is too late. Happy for you already seeing stamps on yours. Yes, I shop much more efficiently with a husband.

I got in 30 mins of exercise. Evening Daily Card is done.

LOL Harriet at Delivery Nazi!

I arrived home to find delivery on our porch of 2 brand new tires DH ordered online. Got a good tire, good price, and will take it to local place for installation.

Kathryn, I hope the new dentist can do something helpful for your jaw.

On the subject of cholesterol medicines, something alarming I just heard. Friend who was at recent Christmas party with DH and I were speaking of her DH's recent diagnosis of Lou Gherigs Disease (sp? and can't remember right name for it)...she did some investigating on internet to find people who are taking cholesterol med (not sure which one or all of them) are coming down with this disease in record numbers and some are looking into this... Red Yeast Rice, Omega 3, and Niacin worked to bring down DH's to acceptable range... me, I'd be a vegetarian before I'd go on them.

Sunny reports her DH had surgery to correct nose bones, cartilege; I haven't heard how he did as we had to hang up.

I have earphones for both my phones and when I'm on too long (sometimes it's totally my fault) I just keep on working.

(Dee).

Done this afternoon: Gift to post office, 3 bank stops, trip to tag office, 2 bags of grapefruit delivered to tenants, wash brought in from outside, I juiced all the rest of the grapefruit picked so far and got about 4 gallons, kitchen cleaned up from all that.

Too much work done. I'm exhausted and going off to bed momentarily.

I still need to
[ ] grade some papers
[x] wrap ddad's present
[ ] exercise
[ ] do laundry
[x] proofread dniece's paper

I don't know how much more of these things will get done. Maybe if I exercise, I can get a burst of energy to carry me through a set of papers. I'm not going to worry about laundry. Dniece's paper was fine, I only caught a few typos.

Oh my goodness. Harmony, that is ALL I need to hear now. Ddad is on L*pitor, I believe, so now along with this constant worry of leukemia in the future, I have to worry about Lou Gehrig's disease??? I am just going to forget you ever said that, and I am definitely not going to tell ddad. He is hypochondriac enough as it is. Seriously, though, that IS something to be concerned about. I can't imagine many diseases that would be worse than Lou Gehrig's disease. Well, anything that incapacitates a person would be equally bad. That is one of my biggest fears. Second is having one of my parents or dh, ds, ddil, etc... become incapacitated.
Well, I won't think about that tonight. I'll think about that tomorrow, at Tara.

I get a lot done while I'm on the phone, too, Harmony. That's about the ONLY way I ever manage to do any ironing. I don't have earphones, though, so I get a crick in my neck from holding the phone between my ear & shoulder.

(((Mr. Sunny))) Sending lots of "get well soon" wishes.

(((Kathryn))) for having to deal with self-centered friend.
Tomorrow is another day.

On second thought, I don't believe exercise or anything else is going to happen around here tonight. I am too tired to do anything except stare at this computer, apparently. I better get ready for bed. I'm too tired to change clothes. (Don't worry -- I will change clothes... It's just going to take a LOT of energy.)
Tomorrow is another day.

I had fun shopping for the gift exchange today. Doc. updated my Rx for test strips so I got those today. We did a store run for a few things I got bags so I can get going on bagging up the leaves here in the front yard.

The Church Christmas party for the ladies was tonight I went had fun. I made up a crab dip recipe that was yummy! The ornament exchange was nice, I won a prize and can use it for my diab. stuff in my purse. They tweaked the menu from desserts to add protein dishes too.
