At another stopping place. Dh got home with groceries so I helped unload and put away, and ds wanted the shower curtain so he could shower, so he was to put it back up but I couldn't start any laundry until he finished in the shower. And I couldn't swish or swipe that bathroom or bring down the towels because he's in there. It's hard to try to get things done with them underfoot so I need to relax and get my blood pressure down!

Laundry is going with the comforter for the guest bedroom. (I need to close that door so the ddogs aren't in there sleeping today.)

Another round of 25 minutes:
-swish and swipe kids bathroom
-bring down upstairs laundry
-put away a large basket of laundry
-make my bed
-swifter kitchen floor

Oh, my Kathryn, what heart breaking situations your poor ds had to deal with last night.

When my dd1 first started out as a nurse, she worked the floor. 2 tragedies stand out. The first one a mother was drunk, run a stop sign onto the highway and was hit by a semi. Her 3 children died and she didn't. She was one of dd1 patients. Another tragedy, right before Christmas a mother and her 3 sons were just travelling through the area. The oldest son was driving and fell asleep. The 3 boys died and the poor mother wished she would have. After both situations, dd1 came over after work for some TLC from momma. I always just felt sick about it and so helpless.

Sorry for bringing up something so sad. My dd2 can not stand to hear bad news about anyone or anything. When she was little she would say turn off the scary show. It was the news. She would rather stick her head in the sand, than to accept that daily we hear bad news.

aflyer, you are so right. Bad news is always sobering and humbling and really puts everything into perspective.

((Kathryn's DS)) ((Lilac's DD)) Such hard things to bear. Losing a child has got to be one of the hardest things to live through. One of our friends lost his 18yo ds 6? years ago. Dh met him about 2 weeks afterward, and over time, he has become a part of one of our small group Bible studies, partially through the questions and thoughts the pain led him to. Dh used to meet with him weekly (dh has a decent counseling bent to him, some informal training - he's much better at that sort of interaction than I am, honestly), but it is more like every other week now. Anyway, seeing him and his wife go through that, I think you never get over it. I can't imagine losing all 3 of mine at once.

Moving slowly but done:
- updated calendar; after a pretty quiet fall, dh is traveling a lot the next 2 months.
- rotated laundry, which needs to be done again
- finalized menu plan and groc. list
- emptied dw

Next:
-brush and floss
-update laundry
-reload dw
-go to the groc. store.

Great opening, Twins Mom.

helia, So glad they are back in lay. What characteristics will dd study and how will she quantify differences?

I've wanted to come in and post, in fact have written a J&C and may post it. Just a really hard day here. Successes around the house with cleaning, etc., but my nerves are about shot, throat horse.

Hello dear ladies,

It was a busy time at work and wasn't able to get here since Thursday.

New Year's Eve was super busy with people shopping for party foods and clothing and then a lot of the food stamp cards were reloaded on Saturday so we had tons of people in the store. Two ladies got into a scuffle at the check-out and both had to be escorted out of the store.

There was a young woman who left her infant child alone in her car as she shopped--think police were called on that. And another lady was told to leave several times, she was selling puppies out in front of the store. She would leave but then kept coming back.

I worked for 5 days on a heaping basket of returned clothes that need new tickets put on or needed to be repackaged. I would get it down by the end of my shift and it would be heaped back up again when I came in the next afternoon.

It is sunny but cool here. Temp is in the 40's and there is a wind with it. DH is doing some outside work and came back in to get a knit cap for his head. He hardly ever wears a hat so he looked quite different with it.

I did my dailies with Charles Dickens today   I've downloaded "Tales of two cities" as an audio book on my iphone and listened to it while I cleaned.

Time it takes to clean house. I couldn't clean my house in an hour. I might get my dailies done on some days in an hour. My dailies consist of dishes, table, counters, microwave, stove, scoop cat litter. Clean bathroom, sweep and damp mop non carpet floors, do laundry, dust some areas, clean my desk off. The floors took a while to do today since I didn't get to do them over the weekend. My desk is a great catch all, people put things there that they want me to see or save for them and I don't always get to clean it off every day.

I don't have the time to devote 4 or 6 hours on one day to heavy cleaning per week so I break it up into weekly things that I try to do a little each day. Things like decluttering, vacuuming, a dusting project, etc. I wish my house was cleaner but it is the best I can do right now.

Going to do some computer work this afternoon, budget for the month and have to get things going for taxes too.

Have a great NORMAL day all!

I can't possibly clean my house in an hour. It takes me just about an hour to vacuum the floors of the main living area -- kitchen/den/dining, laundry room, computer room, guest bath, our bath, our bedroom. That leaves out two extra bedrooms, bath, and study.
I guess I usually do stop and do some surface vacuuming while I'm at it -- book shelves or window blinds or something -- but NOT a full "focus" cleaning in any room. This time estimate does NOT count "detailed" cleaning AT ALL.

I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. When I'm in school, teaching, I'm too exhausted to clean...
and when I'm off work, apparently I'm too lazy.
Tomorrow is another day.

I took a nap since my back was really hurting. Dh has done three of the things on the list he asked for this morning (one of those was going to the grocery store!) Need to work a few more rounds since I am getting stuff done today. Might try for a round upstairs in craft room since I never got there the other day.

-reboot laundry
-get the comforter back on the guest room bed
-refill meds containers for week
-refrigerator clean/purge
-ask dh to move his car and sweep out garage
