some goals - my wish list.
This year I want to learn again/ get more consistant on maintainance tasks/ routines.
More "ready for its purpose" areas in the house/ clutter clearance.
Dare I mention useful useable cupboards?
Much needed house repair / building maintainance jobs done
Branch into new friendship areas. Put out some feelers. be willing to be in touch with new contacts
Be creative more often.

Builder is here with his young teen dd as apprentice. Unloading new cement boards for replacement.
bed sheets are changed
load of washing... almost ready for the line.
didn't post - washing is out now. Birds (theres a new lot of babies being fed around here) told not to carp on my washing. dishes are done. I hadn't done them last night. inc bbq lunch things there was not a drainer full.
house report - old boards were pulled off by hand and broken easily. down pipe broken/adrift too. One more thing. I'm guessing there will be more of those.
Making some more cold water for builders. hot today. Its all in full sun. One side will have a little shade later.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

State of the Union here:

I'm either getting better at hiding unfinished projects or I'm making progress because my piles of papers during my seasonal dash and stashes were smaller than in the past. Yet, I don't feel at all competent so there is a disconnect there.

Being home more in 2011 means that the house is running more smoothly than it use to as far as looking good.

Having finished my courses in 2011 means I don't have as many deadlines as before, which is nice. Unfortunately, I'm not preaching as often either (haven't preached since September, nothing on the horizon and I miss it.)

Forward looking:

Routines need to be expanded to include paperwork. Housework is under control, but there are some gaping holes in my record keeping (too dastardly to even mention here.)

We need to better implement our retirement/financial plan and that includes, as a top priority, getting wills.

I need to continue to focus on health. Starting treatment for the jaw is one step in that direction, continuing my exercising is another. I'd like to start yoga since that holds the promise of both helping my jaw and increasing my physical flexibility and strength. As for weight, I lost 15 pounds in 2011. At a minimum, I'd like to do the same in 2012. Ideally, I'd like to lose 25 pounds and make it to my goal weight and that is not an over-reaching goal, 1 pound every 2 weeks achieves that goal. (Which means I'd better lose a pound this upcoming week or risk falling behind!)

I'd like to increase my emotional flexibility and strength and intend to do that by continuing my faith journey. I see my continuing education as a way to increase my mental flexibility and strength.

I finished reading my book so can put that downstairs. I'm hoping to get my bookshelf organized this week or next - cataloging the books I've read and organizing the ones I have yet to read. With 29 days on the ship, many of them sea-days, I'll have a chance to do some reading over the next two months but need to get in the habit of reading when I'm home as well.

The garbage and recycle is out at the road. The fridge is tidied, dangerous leftovers tossed and the dishwasher is running.

I did my reading on the couch behind dh (who was watching a movie on the tv.) That was the only place with a comfortable chair and light (the living room and family room open onto each other and the light in the family room would have been behind the tv so I left it off, so as to not disturb dh.)

After I finished the book, dozed until dh finished his movie. He got up from his chair, turned off everything, checked the kitchen for me, went upstairs to our bedroom, came back to the kitchen and was starting the basement when I called out him. Even so, he still couldn't see me even though I told him I was in plain view. If he can't find me, lying on the couch, no wonder he can never find his sunglasses!

Despite the dozing, I'm thinking of going to bed now since enough of today's chores are done. There's still some stuff to do, but it will wait.

I've done my exercise, had a nap, spiffed up the kitchen after cooking my egg for dinner. H. is doing his own egg scramble w/ egg beaters & little smokies now.

Dd called with an update for my granny duty the first half of the week.
I rested my back instead of doing yard work today and it was a good call on my part I think.

House looks pretty good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lynlee :) ! Hope you had a wonderful day.

Other than a still stuffy nose, I'm feeling much better today. Have not needed a nap the last two days, a sure sign that I'm improving. Have been picking up & putting away & keeping up with daily chores without feeling tired. After doing a load or two of laundry each day I'm caught up except for pet bedding.

Goals for the year? I've been thinking about that. Cleaning out closets & finishing the attic project I started last year are at the top of the list.

Indi, you're not feeling well? Hope you feel so much better tomorrow. Praying for you. (((Hugs))).

Had hoped to cuop here but only managed a day or two this last week. Will dive back in to village happenings tomorrow -- or maybe just slowly wade back in :P. The focus for tomorrow will be starting to pack up the Christmas decorations, alternating with mail & other misc paperwork.

Have a nice evening, everyone.

So glad to hear your good report, Dove. Also glad you'll be diving/wading with us more now! Keep recuperating, the attic project will be fulfilling.

Norma, I hope dh recuperates soon, too - that's rough that you had to forgo The Cowinkies evening.

Dd13 also finished a book this evening. She had enjoyed it.

Keep those birds toeing the line, Lynlee. Ya gotta watch them. Want to check out the link and will in the a.m. Looks like an optimistic sidetracker like many of us.

I'm heading to bed early, too. Long day. Sending prayer for Indiana for breathing, oxygen saturation, energy. See ya in the a.m.

(Indiana) sincerely hoping you will make a turn for the better and begin healing. We miss you.

I was trying to get some stuff done this afternoon, but low BS made me stop and eat and rest a bit. No wonder I have trouble dieting.

But I made a nice dinner, did dishes, got laundry going. I did manage to get whole closet cleaned out (except I need to go through clothes again). But I made great progress, shelves and bins tidied and looking good, shoes organized and back in their clear boxes, missing work shoe found, 1 pair thrown out, 2 pairs in bag for g-w. I was able to run sweeper in there. Been a while since it's looked this good.

Took light quilt off bed, put the down blanket on. I haven't been warm enough at night. Was dragging my feet doing this as DH is always too warm under the down, but he even said his warmth has been borderline. My down is not a comforter, it is blanket weight, just right for us.

Lynlee, the bird/wash thing reminded me of my childhood where a neighbor had raspberry bushes and birds would drop them on our wash line. I hope everybody who isn't feeling well gets better, all DH's of course included.

Its over 100F here38C thats inside. Workers have gone for lunch. red and hot.
I need find a cooler spot. and lunch for me.
also need try car repair places for some idea on repair costs.

Harriet - the secret of that link is in doing something - and having the luxury of a little time while avoiding 1 thing doing another, then to do the prev avoided thing while avoiding something else that l*st deem a higher priority.
Interesting - but I tend not be caught in that loop atm at least.
Or maybe I just don't recognize it.

washing is in/away bar the fitted protector I had to spot reclean. ???

.K lunch - then I'm going for a drive by some repair shops now workers are back there. ok - I've procrastinated that today. Will I get it done. Just a matter of when?
If I love this laptop I'll shut it off - let it cool down.
I'll do that.

ps - thank you all for the birthday wishes. I really appreciate it.
Just begin.
