As always, I enjoy everyones input on any given subject. My db was diagnosed with diabetes at 15. He had a lot of trouble with it over the years but since he went on the pump about 8 years ago, he has it under control. I never for even one nanosecond worried about getting diabetes. I guess in my mind, I was protected from that evil due to my brother having it. I know, that does sound crazy. When I was diagnosed 3 years ago come February, everyone that knows me could not believe it. I was not and had never been overweight. The only answer the dr. can give me is that diabetes is an autoimmune disease and if you have one autoimmune disease, you are apt to acquire a second one. I have been on meds for thyroid replacement since May 1977. At that time I was treated with radioactive iodine, which permanently knocks out your thyroid gland function. It took me the better part of a year to finally accept the diabetes and to believe that it was indeed here to stay. I distinctly remember the summer of 2008, when our own dNancy told us about the scary, life threatening ordeal that she had just been through. I just felt terrible that she had been diagnosed with diabetes. I have always hated and still do hate to hear when anyone is diagnosed with it. Little did I know that less than 6 months later, I would be joining dNancy in the daily battle, that is diabetes. I know that sounds dramatic but every single thing you eat or do affects your diabetes, in a good or bad way. What you eat, how much sleep you get, how much exercise you get, stress level, etc. In the end, it is what it is and you learn to deal with it.
I hauled 2 sets of plastic shelves that I use in the garage over to the new house. Then I brought another load. I just have some loose odds and ends in the garage to load up and bring home, the next time I go over there. There are some flat, too big boxes over there that I had intended to leave in case whoever buys it, needs boxes. I am thinking about just hauling them to recycling because it looks cluttery. We will be glad when we can devote 100% of our time to this house.
