Hello again! I called the bank and closed the account. I will deposit the money in the account I am using now. I needed more info for the visa than I have with me, so will get that tonight. Tonight, I was going to put away some things so they do not get misplaced when the maids come Wed, but I have to fill out some info for the financial advisor instead. It will require a trip through my files. I have no idea what I am having for dinner, but I do know I will cook and freeze some rice to have on hand. I guess it will probably be cereal. Boring, but it works. I know what I am eating Tuesday, Wednesday, and probably Friday.

LOL, Emptynester, are you trying to brace yourself for the calls from darling in-laws? dd32 uses all Phineas and Ferb (smart children's cartoon with many jokes for the adults watching, too) ringtones and I have one assigned to me. I'm going to have to ask her sometime which one! I hope mine is a happy tune, not something about the mad scientist bad-guy! The little boys laugh whenever her phone rings - they know it's their Daddy when they hear the platypus sound.

The most irritating ringtone I've heard was one dd13's friend's mother uses for her children. It's the "Mom, Ma, Ma-Ma, Mom, Ma, Ma-Ma" nag from that awful Family Guy advertisement. Ugh. That's how she feels when her children call??? Maybe so! LOL I noticed that dstepson has gone over to a loud "ringing phone" sound. How retro, a ringing phone! He says he likes it because nobody else uses it and he can always distinguish his phone! Felt so sorry for the lady in church whose phone began to sound off loudly during prayer. I went to her afterward and told her to remember she is far from the first person that happened to.

OKay, thank you - I will dutifully try to understand what you said! Somehow I don't think I'm going to be that bright with mine!

Btw, OKay reminds me - an Amazon Prime one-month trial comes with the purchase. Did not know that until today. So now I can get the books I won't need faster than I could back when I needed them. Dee and Emptynester, I assume you will get that if you purchase, too.

Ds26 came by today and was astonished I'd bought something new. (He thinks I am unalterably stuck in a time warp, and compared to him I am.) He fears that if Kindles/Nooks become commonplace in middle school they will be used mostly for games and it will be counter-productive. I had to tell him that next year the students are to bring laptops - there was an article in the paper about the school board's decision.

I just called the government, got the final number I owe them and got the cheque into its envelope along with a cover letter.

We are off to the mail box now.

I've also finished the bookkeeping up until the end of December. I'll enter January and February when I get back from our walk.

Dh is running two processor-heavy transformations right now and his Macbook got too noisy to talk over. I suggested he put a heat-sink under them - our frying pan. I figured it would dissipate the heat. With 20 seconds the fan went from 6000 rpm to 4000 rpm. The pan heats up and the fan speeds up but now he's swapping two frying pans, cooling the alternate one in the fridge. He posted about it on Google+ and already two others have reposted it. He's thrilled.

Last week I closed an account after the bank sent a letter explaining that dormant accounts were going to be charged ten a month this account was "supposed" to be one of the free 55+ accounts go figure!

Groceries bought and put away. A.m. routine finished. Kids welcomed home. Email input to teaching team chair composed and sent out.

I'm hoping dh got my email and will pick me up before running. I'd like to join him. Ds won't be back with the car for another 20 minutes. He is at his clarinet lesson.

I need to start another lol and finish my l**t for the week. there are some things I'm afraid I'll forget.

Schools here provide laptops for the kids to use.

--Ah, dh just called. I'm going to go change.

Hi from the Kindle. Just proving to myself that I can post this way when needed. Tiring though. Oh there it turned over sideways and my hands don't have to be tiny anymore. Still, where is the apostrophe for the ...oh it put it in without me. Trying a smilie : !: okay that cant be done. No apostrophe that time.

Jan and Feb done (no bank to reconcile as the statement for Jan isn't here yet.)

The mail yielded the government forms I needed but I've already sent the payment.

That's twice today that dh handling a task has meant I've made my life difficult. I let him put out the garbage and he failed to put out the compost. The bin is chock full and now will rot in the garage for 8 weeks because it was last picked up 2 weeks ago. And had I taken the mail from the mail box, I would have seen the government letters and asked for my letter back from the postmistress so I could move the cheque over to the government form (which included the right address.)

Anyway, what is done is done.

He's off putting the cheques that arrived last week in the bank account. Hopefully that will go fine. He'll call when he's leaving that village so I can start my dinner in the microwave.

We'll have a rushed dinner because he has a conference call tonight.

Harriet Congrats on mastering the Kindle so quickly.I'm much slower with new things than you are so am very impressed with you - especially given all the distractions in your household.

Actually, I was more impressed with the frying pan.

I can't figure out how to highlight text to bold, italicize or use color. Takes quite a while to accomplish a post. I was thinking the Kindle could take the place of the laptop for dd next year, thereby saving her some weight and space in the bookbag, but I don't see how she could type as quickly, which might make a huge difference to her.

helia, each child has a supplied laptop? Wow, that's dollars for sure. No, this article says students would be encouraged to bring theirs from home, so I don't see how there could be much fairness here for those who don't have the resources.

HRH has a friend who supposedly was coming by but it's fallen dark and he is not here yet. Sigh. I had things I could have accomplished... This friend is in the big city until Fri attending a seminar. So he could be by any/all evenings and all day Fri. Could potentially be difficult.

I need to go outside and complete a few more outdoor chores. Things in the car to bring in, and henhouse to close up.

Harriet, no, not a laptop for every child. It sounds like the laptops are on carts that can be taken to a classroom so each student in that room can have a laptop to work on. I don't believe there are enough for every classroom to have laptops at the same time, however. I'm not sure exactly how many there are in each school, actually. . . .

Supper is almost ready! Red beans and sausage, rice, corn bread and. . . edamame. . . How's that for a cultural melange? LOL! Edamame could be international, though. .
